Metroid Prime 3: Corruption

I'm trying to find a way to get to the landing site on East Elysia, but it won't let me. I think I need either Spider Ball or Seeker Missile, anyone know where those are?

What do you guys think about the battle with Rundas? I felt it was way to easy with Hypermode even in higher difficulty settings. He should have been near the end I think. Other then that, whats your favorite Hunter in this game?

I kinda liked Ghor. I thought it was funny how his voice(Which was great BTW) and personality change when he gets into his mech, and was overall, a great character. Too bad he was kinda easy.

But still, Weavel > all.

I'm staying out of reading this thread. But the game so far is leaps and bounds above Metroid Prime 2. Almost as good as Metroid Prime (Prime beats it due to atmosphere so far)

I'm quite disapointed with the hypermode grapple. It's really disapointing, the hyperball is the best one because it's so unique.

I wish the ships features could be used more. The missles and grapple are not even used over 3 times in the game each.

Being leaps and bounds above Prime 2 isn't saying much.

I agree that Prime 2 wasn't the greatest, but it's by no means the bad game everyone makes it out to be. I just personally didn't begin to enjoy it until Sanctuary Fortress, when I felt it finally picked up speed. The other two Primes had better pacing, and were less dreary.

Spolier alert, etc :

Sort of like the Echoes Visor from (guess where?), or the Beam Combos from the first two Prime games? In my opinion, this Prime game did the best job at using power-ups. For example, the Grapple Beam was upgraded so the Power Bomb wasn't needed, and the Hyper Missile took the place of the Super one.

Until Phaaze however, the Hyper Missle and Grapple weren't really needed; they were just used once or twice to clear obstructions from your path (even then, I agree, the Hyper Grapple was nearly useless). However, all the Visors were used well this time IMO; the X-Ray Visor was great for finding weak points on tough enemies, the Ship Visor let you save and attack stuff (it is possible in an open area, which is why the missile expansions for the ship exist), and the Scan Visor was always pretty cool.

So yes, I think there are only about 2 or 3 uses for the missles that you must use, but they can also help you out in the game if you so choose. Also, I count 3 obligatory uses for the Ship Grapple, and two optional ones :P I didn't like they Hyper Ball too much though; for me, it didn't really see much use until Phaaze, like the Grapple.

yeah, i found that i could use the ship missile to kill that one berserker knight you fight early in bryyo, it was pretty awesome.

i just discovered how to kill metroid hatchers easier! use the x-ray visor and you'll see a weak spot, just shoot at it with the nova beam and you will literally beat it in 3 seconds flat.

speaking of phazon upgrades, none of them were too useful except for destroying the phazon cores of each leviathan and in some instances. i haven't used the hyper grapple yet, but i used the hyper missile to defeat some armored pirates quickly. hyper ball is cool but i just havent seen myself using it at all, hypermode itself is all i really need. all of the upgrades are useful except for the hyper ones, basically.

i don't understand what's so bad about echoes, though. i personally loved it. the graphics were superior to prime's, the enemies and environments were a lot more realistic this time (i always felt tallon iv having a desert-ish region, an icy area and a rainforest area a little odd), and the puzzles made a lot more sense. i agree that the dark world was kinda boring, but it was made up for with awesome dark world boss fights (quadraxis, chykka, amorbis, etc). it was a fantastic game, not as good as prime or prime 3 but it's definitely not the bad game you guys make it seem to be.

  • The opening seemed to be trying hard to create some epic space opera feel with the galactic federation people and voice acting and whatnot. It's not necessarily a bad thing, but it seems somewhat out of place in a series that emphasizes isolation.

This is my only concern with the game. They give you way too much outside help. Even in Metroid Fusion, you were being told to do stuff, but no one was like oh, here, take this upgrade that I will make appear for you. Every thing else is good though. SkyTown makes you feel sad for all the robots. And Bryyo's history is amazing.

More spoilers abound, duh :

That's what I meant with the X-Ray Visor :P It also works with Commando Pirates (headshot!), and something on Phaaze I think, but that's all I can remember at this point.

I agree with this 100%. I felt like half the stuff the Aurora units told you should have been provided via the hint system, which I turned off for a reason. The help they give you made the game far too easy IMO. Also, I agree with the SkyTown lore! I actually stopped shooting all those worker robots after I heard their history and stuff! All of the scans were great though, and kept my interest.

I hated how the GF always seemed to be holding Samus's hand all the way through...they helped you too much IMO. I don't even think you can turn off the AU transmissions like you could turn off the hint system in the other two Primes, which totally sucks.

Also, was anyone else somewhat disappointed by the huge lack of non-lore SP terminals to scan? I loved those in MP1 and 2...mostly because they gave you some more insight as to what the Space Pirates were currently doing and what their plans were. Made me think what it'd be like to be in their shoes.

well i just beat corruption and was wondering if echos is worth getting. The first Metriod Prime was like my favorite game and i was so psyched when i heard they were making echos but then i fell in love with kotor and kind've forgot about metriod but after this game i'm in love all over again and was wandering if i should get echos or not, a lot of these posts make it sound bad.

Edit: This game was awesome the first Ridley fight was just epic.

Echoes is the worst on the adventure part, Dark Aether isn't the same as more original worlds to explore. Boss battle wise, it was the most intense. I just feel Prime 3 skimped on them for some reason. I only died against Mogenar, and that's only because I overused Hypermode. Echoes is very slow, but the epic boss battles are worth it, if you are a Metroid fan.

Although it is my least favorite Prime, Echoes is by no means a bad game, and is definetly worth purchasing. It easily has the best soundtrack of the three Primes, and has amazing environments and settings. The portal hopping and beam ammo gets a bit annoying, but when you look past that, you have one solid game. Heck, I know a few people that actually like the portal hopping and beam ammo.

i would think thats because they were under dark samus' influence. they were basically bent on anything dark samus was bent on, so of course the only terminals they created were to praise DS and talk about the progress of her taking over the universe. but there were the terminals in the metroid room on pirate homeworld that talked about metroid project "dread". i think there were a few other terminals like that on the planet.

I guess I'm nearing completion, I just have to say that none of the boss battles have been frustrating or even difficult at that. Gandrayda was probably the hardest and that is saying something. Ridley was disappointingly easy. I'm having fun in the game, but I feel its missing something to be truly great. But I have been let down by so called great games that everyone hails as awesome but not me (looking at you Halo). Oh well at least its fun.

Play it on hypermode difficulty next, i don't know if your playing on normal but when i did it was so easy i got disappointed but then i started playing hypermode and it was a blast the enemys actually force you to dodge around their shots and the bosses are more fun to, especially omega Ridley.
Edit: yeah people were way to excited about Halo 2 and it wasn't even that good.

I just finished and holy crap wow best game on Wii right now.

I was afraid it'd be too shooter-y but that didn't really happen. The story I found good and the voice acting was better than I expected. Not as good as Prime (better atmosphere and levels in Prime) but way better than Prime 2. I thought having the Galactic Federation so heavily involved with the game would kill the atmosphere, but it didn't hurt much.

My only complaints are that the upgrades really were pretty uninteresting... The weather pack thingy and Nova beam were huge let-downs especially. Also, why did Samus not talk? She isn't Link or Mario. She's talked before in Zero Mission and Fusion. Everybody's talking to her and she's silent?

That aside, it's still an A game. The lore was amazing. Loved scanning those. They really gave you an idea of the planets' histories.

Well, in those games shes not actually talking, ever. All of the time its what shes thinking inside her head. Just her thoughts, and nothing more. I personally loved this game and getting a lot of those credits was fun. I'm surprised no one has said this but does anyone have Friend Vouchers they'd like to share? I have quite a few so anything is good, I need to get some of the bonus unlockables. Also, I'm gonna try for a Hypermode difficulty run through without the use of except when necessary like the Leviathan bosses and obstructions. Also on a final note, anyone get the crap scared out of them on the G.F.S. Valhalla? Doing it at night was creepy to say the least.

Am I the only one who actually liked echoes?...

The atmosphere was good, Agon wastes was good at giving you that feeling of desolation, Torvus bog wasn't that great, but provided a fair challenge, and Sanctuary fortress was amazing. The dark/light aspect made the game have both a good story and pose a decent challenge as well. The main boss battles were positively epic, especcially Quadraxis and Emperor Ing. The ammo system gave a more realistic feel and forced you to be strategic in your usage of the beams.

On top of that, it looked good too. I know people say Prime 1 had a good atmosphere, but I think Echoes is too underrated. I just feel that it only seems bad because the other 2 overshadow it.

Yes it was just her thoughts, but she already have a personality given to her by the text. I don't see why they couldn't have made her actually interact with the people talking to her.

The only thing Echoes did right was boss design IMO. I hated the dark/light world thing and the story just seemed like filler.

Yeah, I hated going on the Valhalla. I skipped through most of it whenever I had to go back to drop off more energy cells, I went into morph ball mode to be harder to hit. Dead people everywhere was pretty cool though.
