Alright, so both me and PurpleWeezing here some guy talking about an NU tourney, and I thought....why dont I join? I have a good fun NU team, I'll give it a go. So first round, i'm against this guy named PurpleWeezing....wait I know him he used to own me half the time on the UU ladder (damn stall teams)! Maybe ill get him back for that with this match...or maybe not...

Since we are both commenting on the match, I'll reveal both teams now. If you dont want to see, close your eyes or suck it up!

Rules: Evasion Clause, Freeze Clause, OHKO Clause, Sleep Clause, Soul Dew Clause, Species Clause, Timed Battle

PurpleWeezing sent out Pinsir (lvl 100 Pinsir ?).
HeYsUp sent out Piloswine (lvl 100 Piloswine ?).
dpiconani221.gif
vs
dpiconani127.gif

Ok, a Pinsir lead. Im assuming he has CC, so he will attack me before using SR, and Piloswine survives this easily. Avalanche OHKOes Pinsir (even with its good defense) after using CC. My team would love being able to switch and out without taking 25% each time :(.

Heh, I read his NU-RMT so I know that he'll most likely set up SR, as Piloswine can't really harm Pinsir. I'll use the turn to set up SR as well here.

Pinsir used Stealth Rock.
Pointed stones float in the air around the foe's team!
Piloswine used Avalanche.
Pinsir lost 38% of its health.
---
dpiconani221.gif
vs
dpiconani127.gif

Well....I guess he knows the importance of having SR on the field. No matter, now he will probably attack me, but im not sure he wants to use CC now, because Avalanche OHKOes him. This is my chance to use SR and then finish him off.

I don't want to use Close Combat now, as with the drop the match up looks way worse. X-Scizzor + Close Combat means a kill as well, so I'll just go with X-Scizzor for now.

Pinsir used X-Scissor.
A critical hit!
Piloswine lost 89% of its health.
Piloswine used Stealth Rock.
Pointed stones float in the air around the foe's team!
Piloswine's leftovers restored its health a little!
Piloswine restored 6% of its health.

PurpleWeezing: sry

dpiconani127.gif

You betta be sorry! That was probably the most timely crit, even though it doesnt seem like it -_-, let me explain. With Piloswine as my main check to Pinsir, usually 1v1ing it, gone. That leaves me only one option: to sacrifice another Pokemon to take it out. Relicanth it is, wont take much from X-Scissor.

And I get lucky. Let's go for another X-Scizzor, this should kill him =)

HeYsUp switched in Relicanth (lvl 100 Relicanth ?).
Pointed stones dug into Relicanth.
Relicanth lost 12% of its health.
Pinsir used X-Scissor.
Relicanth lost 27% of its health.

Relicanth restored 6% of its health.

dpiconani127.gif

Eh, did more than I thought, but I can still live and KO him with Head Smash. Especially since he doesnt seem to carry CC. With Pinsir gone Flareon should finally be able to come out and rip things to shreds.

Oof, Relicanth. I don't have a real switch in for that thing, especially if it's the RP variant. So what I do here is obvious - Close Combat!

Pinsir used Close Combat.
It's super effective!
Relicanth lost 58% of its health.
Pinsir's defence was lowered.
Pinsir's special defence was lowered.

Ugh.....he does have CC. Things are looking grim here. Now I lose Relicanth, my physical hit taker and sleep absorber. Well at least Flareon can probably deal with his team now.

He's down to low health - and that's good, very good. Now Floatzel has a good chance to sweep, with his main counter gone. So what I do is obvious - Floatzel, go for the kill!

Floatzel used Waterfall.
Relicanth lost 24% of its health.
HeYsUp's Relicanth fainted.

Or not, Flareon is practically useless so far, which is terrible for my team being so reliant on Flareons job; being taking out the opponents walls.
Snover can probably force him out, so ill predict his switch to a grass resist and use leech seed.

Snover? I just remember that he had Leadswine and ScarfGlaceon in his team. Well, I guess it's time to go for Skuntank, who has Poison Jab for pesky Grass types.

PurpleWeezing switched in Skuntank (lvl 100 Skuntank ?).
Pointed stones dug into Skuntank.
Skuntank lost 12% of its health.
Snover used Leech Seed.

Whoa, long log heh. This is pretty good news, well the best thing to happen so far ^_^. He likely has a poison move, or a fire move, or both. Im going to scout which move he decides to use. Too bad Relicanth is gone :(

Leech Seed, this was ... predictable? Well, I'll just go for the Poison Jab, assuming he's going to Protect anyway.

Poison Jab. hmm...that means he does not have a fire move. I'll take this opportunity to sac Piloswine send out my late game sweeper, who has quite a bit of Physical bulk as well. Peace Piloswine, way to get crit!

He'll switch out, that's obvious. Piloswine is pretty bulky and may stand a Jab, so I'll play it the safe route and go with Crunch!

The smart thing for him to do is sac the skunk. Not many Pokemon can take two Blizzards. Well in any event, Blizzard will hurt whatever it hits.

Fuck. My 2 ice-resists are Relicanth and Floatzel (as this team was thrown together in 5 mins). I remember that this thing is scarfed and that it has Blizzard, so I'm screwed.

PurpleWeezing: this is scarfed iirc
PurpleWeezing: so screw it

Thought so...but now..shit. Is he Rock Polish or Sleep Talk...hmm.. Sleep Talk will just flat out KO me with Head SMash, but Rock Polish I can hurt with Blizzard pretty badly, and then sacrfice Snover. In any event I dont want to risk Glaceon falling, so Snover, your time has come!

RP-Relicanth with Shuca Berry (i didn't find a better solution to Tauros...) Time to boost!

HeYsUp switched in Snover (lvl 100 Snover ?).

Damn it! Rock Polish will just murder my team, im ready to say gg, but then I remember that one of my team members can take a Head Smash and possibly live, its not over yet!

Snover means that he's ready to sac something, which means that he's weak to RP-Reli or that he wants to revenge kill it easier by adding up some Hail damage. I'll keep on spamming Head Smashes.

Medicham can PROBABLY take him out from here. Well I hope. I use a Fake Out + BP variant, so lets give it a shot..it SHOULD KO with Hail damage factored in. Or gg...

Oof, Medicham. Probably a scarfed one. Meh, the hail damage did what it was supposed to, I think I could need Reli later for spamming Head Smashes. Sandslash it is.

PurpleWeezing switched in Sandslash (lvl 100 Sandslash ?).

Cool, he switched out. I need to get Glaceon back in, but Earthquake will put me too low...since he seems to hate SR as much as I do, hopefully he will use RS and give me a free switch in. Here goes nothing...

Seems like I just wasted an opportunity to win the match. Fuck it. I'm pretty angry at myself for being a dumbass, so this turn proves the fact that I am one. I simply wanted to go for the SE damage, even though EQ would've been so much better in this situation... x_X

Free enough ^_^, time to let loose Blizzard. Relicanth is weak enoguh to be easily KOed by Blizzard, so not much on his team can take it. Time to put this game to an end.

Screw it. Glaceon is at 27% right now which means that it's not killed by SR the next time it switches in. Now I gotta sac something. Relicanth it is, as I'll need Sandslash to have something to switch into Medicham. I need my hidden Shiftry to sweep him later. And I need Floatzel to take Glaceon's Blizzard and to take the last 2% out of his Glaceon. Everything's cool for me right now =)

I need this thing either weakened, or KOed, then I have an easy sweep....except I still dont know what his last Pokemon is. I use Fake out to either hit Floatzel, or weaken Sandslash enough for me to KO.

Time to bring in Sandslash once again I guess, Floatzel is my key to victory. Sandslash hopefully takes everything he throws at me, otherwise it'll get close once again.

OH boy. This is when I look up to the hax gods and say, "WHY DID YOU LET MY PILOSWINE GET CRIT!?". Piloswine and Snover are usually my checks to Scarf (I assume) grass types. The best thing I can do is use Bullet Punch and hope to crit, or hope he is weak enough to OHKO...not likely. Things look grim, even if Glaceon is faster then Shiftry, Floatzel can survive a Blizzard, as it only does 60% iirc.

Mine is a specially based LO-variant with EBall, Dark Pulse, HP [Fighting] and Explosion. I go with Dark Pulse for the kill here, hoping that his Bullet Punch won't do enough. I'm still sure that I win.

Not right now PurpleWeezing, maybe later....oh uh..right back to the battle.

That crit saved my ass from what looked to be game over. I guess what goes around comes around :), that or the Hax gods are real. Although, its far from over, he stil has Floatzel which could easily KO Medicham with Waterfall, and Glaceon with Aqua Jet. The best I can do is weaken Floatzel to the point of Blizzard having 100% KO chance.

GG PurpleWeezing! Really a fun and nearly hax free (1 crit each side) match, NU is very quick paced and fun metagame. Again a great match.

I need Aqua Jet, seriously. As well as Sucker Punch on Shiftry. Well, I had fun in my first NU battle, it was close and little haxx made it even closer, so I won't complain, I just say gg and build a really good NU team =)

HeYsUp Props:
-Glaceon as always, for sweeping late game.
-Medicham for keeping me from having my ass handed to me all game.
-Piloswine for taking a crit to the face, and still getting SR up.
-PurpleWeezing for a great battle!

HeYsUp slops:
-Well this is just to do with PW's team, but Flareon was useless as hell.
-Crits on both sides were perfectly timed to be very important.
-Relicanth weakness

HeYsUp's MVP:
dpiconani308.gif

Medicham @ Life Orb
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
Ability: Pure Power
EVs: 252 Atk/252 Spd/4 Def
-Fake Out
-Bullet Punch
-Brick Break
-Zen Headbutt

Medicham saved my ass more times than I could count, even though Glaceon won me the match, Medicham kept me from being swept at least 3 times.

PurpleWeezing's Props:
- Pinsir for setting up SR and for taking out his main physical wall, Relicanth.
- His Medicham for being a stupid bastard!
- Me, for building a semi-decent team in less than 10 minutes!
- Relicanth, for giving him headaches, even though I lost him due to my own dumbiness.
- HeYSuP for being a cool guy and for a funny battle.

PurpleWeezing's Slops:
- Shiftry for getting critted. Shiftry you stupid dumbass, why don't you have battle armor?!?
- The fragility of my Ice resists ._.
- Dumb haxx as always ;)
- Sandslash for doing nothing but getting misplayed by myself.

PurpleWeezing's MVP:
dpiconani127.gif

Pinsir @ Lum Berry
Jolly nature (+ Spd, - SAtk)
Ability: Hyper Cutter
4 HP/252 Atk/252 Spd
- Stealth Rock
- X-Scizzor
- Close Combat
- Stone Edge

You can't expect much more of a mon. Setting up SR that nearly killed his Glaceon, getting rid of his main physical wall and of his lead. Pinsir just fucking worked.

Great warstory, especially for the first (iirc) NU warstory here. It can definitely help newer NU battlers (like me) learn about the metagame more.

Edit: Who the hell rated this one star?

I remember that Pinsir...

Anyway, this warstory gets immediate props for including Skuntank, and secondary props for being between two good battlers. Unfortunately, there was a bit too much sacrificing and very important hax for me to fully enjoy it. Still, it pretty much reflected on NU accurately atm, so bleh. I gave it a 3; not great. I know it's exciting to face a really good battler but that doesn't mean it has to be warstoried lol.

great story! the tension at the end was great. i also would love to add, more people need to post their tech movesets at the end of stories 8) thanks for the medicham!

Wow, been waiting for someone to write a NU warstory. Great battle, I liked the timing of the crits on both sides :P made the battle more interesting.

As it has been said before me, it is nice to see an NU Warstory here. As well a story from HeYsUp is always worth the time to read.

I'm just wondering, is this what NU is going to end up shaping up to be? If so it seems to me to be like Little Cup, with more sacs and less revenge killing. Almost as if status effects are not worth the set to set up and it a better option to go for fast hard hitters (Pinsir, Floatzel). Or maybe even a bit like Ubers, with more pokemon to worry about, given the fast strong hitters and sacrificial nature. (though status does play a lot more in ubers..)

I am premature in this judgment I'm sure, having very little to base my assumption on, so this is simply a first glance. The NU Tier definitely piques my interest, and I look forward to learning more about its inner workings.

Hey guys thanks for the Feedback!

This warstory was not to demenstrate "our pwnage super awesome skillz" (maybe a little), it was for sheer entertainment value because a) minor hax was even on both sides, and added a little excitement, b) was a close, and fun NU match. There wasnt any "oh wow he is so good moments" (on either side), if thats what you look for in a warstory.

Anyways, thanks for the Feedback, and i'm glad some people liked the MVP section.

Just from looking at the story, I can tell that even 1 crit, or 1 on each side, can be crucial. If you wanted a hax-free clause, this would be the place to have it.

I enjoyed it, regardless if there was some hax here and there (ironically, the hax was distributed evenly). Always good to see someone using Medicham effectively, it's one of my favorite Pokemon, and is easily my favorite Fighting-type x3

Nice job, loving the format + dual commentary as well. I need to make a warstory with the latter one of these days ;___;

Thanks guys. NU is a bit of an unstable (yet surprisingly fun) state right now, I actually enjoy it as a break from the stall in UU -_-.

The only thing that bothered me was when you claimed that the crit against Piloswine was so game-breaking. I'm just estimating, but could Piloswine really live through an X-Scissor and then a Close Combat? I haven't run calcs, but Close Combat should do roughly the same as a crit X-Scissor, and that was nearly a OHKO.

The Pokemon that were used were amazing. Excellent battle, overall. The only thing I didn't like was the Flareon sacrifice but the rest of the battle was splendid. Great job you two. (NU FTW!)
