I'm double posting to let everyone know of something very important:

If anyone wants to make other Vivillon cosmetic Vivillon formes with our current sprites I would appreciate it : )

Fancy and Pokeball versions were already made since they were "necessary"

umm...I'm a bit new here, and I wanted to find a way to share these, but I made these alternate Vivillons a while ago since we're discussing them. They're absolutely not perfect, don't have backs yet, and will require some QC; but I love the work you guys have been doing and I respect the people who work so hard to make these!

I noticed a few Pokemon were missing their shiny forms...

Shiny Hoopa Unbound made from TrainerSplash & aXl Hoopa
Shiny Gourgeist (All sizes) Made from RedRooster/PoM/Wobblebuns original sprite. (I really don't know who to credit for this one XD)
I also have noticed that the link for Fairy Arceus is dead, I have one with shiny front and back if you need it.

Just finished a shiny sprite for Wobblebuns Mega Diancie, I think it needs some QC, but that is the best I got =/

Edit2: So apparently this post was unnecessary. Pokemon Showdown already had these sprites, the sprite sheet on the first page just wasn't updated.

On a completely different note, I believe shiny Mega Pidgeot is still missing. Well not any more!

Don't know if anyone's still checking this forum, but I was grabbing these sprites for a project and I saw there were a few missing: Shiny M-Metagross, M-Metagross back and shiny back, and shiny M-Sharpedo back.
So I went ahead and made those. I hope that's OK.

Noivern's shiny sprites seemed a bit outdated, so I went ahead and updated them:

hi guys, i made an updated list of the sprites from this project. the only things i qc'd were the cosplay pikachu forms and reducing the colours in some of the unfinalized sprites before.
however, the animated sprites list doesn't have much in it yet because many of the static sprites were updated some time ago. i'm thinking of helping with finishing some of the animated sprites once i finish more stuff in the Sun/Moon sprite project

Never posted on Smogon before but if mods deem that my sprites meet the quality standards I could for sure make some of the missing backsprites and post them here. If they get rejected I will still post them on my DA for those who might need at least some form of a backsprite.

You need to be approved first.

I don't know if that means anything more than wait for a mod to look at it, but that's what I'm doing. Making and waiting. The sprites aren't particularly difficult to make even if they get deleted it isn't a big loss.

Question, how would one ask to try to join and contribute to this? I heard you needed Vivillon backsprites of all patterns, and, well, not to throw a third candidate onto the pile, but I do have a personal project of mine that's already finished all the sprites front and back, normal and shiny for all the vivillon forms, so theyd at least all match together nicely too. Im just not the greatest spriter and they were admittedly heavily edited (the wing edges at least, the bodies I did myself) from a self proclaimed free to use resource here: https://www.deviantart.com/dreadwing93/art/666-Vivillon-Sprites-710504373

Benefits to you guys:
1) They all match eachother and are a nice looking set
2) They look decent and vibrant (to me)
3) Every sprite is finished, front/back shiny etc
4) They are all 14 colors or less, every single one, which I know is important from reading this thread
5) they are fullbody back and front

Cons:
1) I did start with those above sprites, but you can see on their page they said they are free to use for whatever, not to mention said person has even made a website to make your vivillon pattern here: http://cutievirus.com/vivillon/ BUT it's really just the wing edges and basic pattern shape, I recolored/reshaded slightly edited the wings and totally remade the bodies myself
2) I am not the greatest spriter anyway, probably might need a qc pass/not sure if there up to you guys standards/this was just a personal thing I did for myself, but if there's a need for it here, then might as well offer?

feel free to say no thanks, just thought id throw it out there since there seemed to be a need for a task that was probably kinda daunting

*EDIT* I also tried to take a stab at making more backsprite patterns to try and match the other vivillon backsprite that's already been made earlier in this thread, so there's that as well, I used a lot more brighter/vivid colors out of personal preference though, again, not the greatest spriter, it's probably a bit messy, but I think alright for a first attempt at it

This might not be the right place, but are you aware that this site https://japeal.com/pkm/ specifically credits your project as using your guy's sprites, but has a patreon where this specific app is donated to? They are making a minimum of $903 a month based these sprites https://www.patreon.com/fusiongen.

I looked here to see if you only allowed non-profit for these sprites, and it seems that's the case.

Patreon requires a lot of information to report a copyright notice, so it might be up to individual artists to report it.

Not only that, the Gen 8 sprites are locked unless you become a patron (aka donate) so not only are they stealing content, they're specifically making you pay to see the content they stole.

The guy has a Patreon.
It's not like he's making Pokémon sprites from that…
…I can't speak for the other fusions.
But he does splice them himself and put them into the new Pokémon fusion splicer, which has color palettes coded in. It is a lot of work, if you pay attention to the details.
So it's not the sprites that you're paying for. It's the work.

For those unaware of japeal, the first thing that pops up when you make any fusion is this:

Now granted, the site does give credit to the sprite projects here, but isn't profiting off of sprites he didn't even make through a bot that just splices apart different pieces of sprites, that he didn't make, some sort of infringement of fair use? Granted the same could be said for the official sprites but point of matter here is they they're using you guys' sprites and making money off of them :T

Here's an idea nobody's going to like but I'll say it anyway:
Why not invite them to just joint the sprite project and turn it into a group gig and completely open it so nobody has to pay for anything, and all of the work gets done. Insofar as Pokémon sprites are involved, that is.
And AquaticPanic I think he did splice the sprites himself, unless he used the Gen 1-5 sprite splices from Spriters-Resource.com (but he would still need to have obtained splices of the other sprites, which takes a bit of work. Again, he's not charging for sprites, but for splices.

I like the fusion tool, but it seems more appropriate to carry out as a team effort than as something run by one guy who profits off of it.
This may also by my personal aversion to monetization of… anything, really.

If he said "Please support my coding endeavors here's my patreon", it wouldn't be as bad. If you were specifically supporting a coder and any projects he makes, be them fandom related or not I'd be on board, like minecraft modders have patreons. However, it's specifically for this app and gating access behind patreon on tiers (mind you, some of them go up to $100 a month!) I think is pretty terrible. Since the appeal comes from fusing together sprites, I'd fight he is charging for sprites. If his project wouldn't be successful without the sprites, then they are a part of the product.

And yeah, it looks like he does dbz ones too and cites a different project, but I couldn't really get a handle on their layout to see about their fair use.

As someone who's not contributed to the project, I don't think I can in good faith email him about alternatives solutions, so this is why I brought the discussion here.

their fusion generator is considered a parody, so copyright laws are different for them. it's considered fair use. their page also states it's a form of parody so no worries, everything is legal. and the paid content is just for early access anyway. they release the stuff for free eventually

update time. since gen7 and gen8 are done, i'll contribute to this project now. i'll avoid remaking any of the sprites as much as i can; gonna stick to qc and edits since a lot of the sprites here are already great as they are, just need some polishing. i'll only make a new sprite if i think it's needed.
i'll also gradually replace the imgur links on the spreadsheet with smogon links as i go through more updates
