What is the most powerful Pokémon canonically?

This is a question that has been asked many many times. But no definitive answer has been given. Most people assume Arceus because they are the god of the Pokémon universe, others say mewtwo, some even say mew. I personally believe it is Ultra Necrozma but that’s beside the point. In this thread I hope to achieve a final conclusion to this age old question as well as make a final list of all legendaries and mythicals based on power. Using the following data we shall reach a final consensus. These are in order of importance, so if one Pokémon has better stats but isn’t as powerful lore wise it will rank lower than one with SLIGHTLY worse stats but is more powerful lore wise.
  • Strength in lore
  • In game stats
  • Inspirations (ex. Arceus is a light deity and based off of something from alchemy idk)
  • Outside information (TCG, Pokémon spin-offs etc.)
I will be making a list as we go along, so we should probably start with the most powerful and least powerful and go on from there.

Why would gardevoir be the strongest? Just because she can make black holes doesn’t mean she can survive being hit by something from a god

You're just not open to the opportunities fam. Gardevoir is objectively the strongest Pokemon in-canon, and because you're a leftist legendary apologiser you refuse to open your mind to the cold, hard facts

Dialga, obviously. It has the power to control time.
Good point, I think both palkia and dialga might be in the top three. Giratina though...... he’s kinda weak lore wise. At least in my opinion, because sure he has complete control over the distortion realm but that’s about it.

HOW DARE YOU?! A POX, A POX ON ALL YOUR BRAINCELLS!!!
Ehem, anyways, if we’re including non legendaries then tyranitar is literally unable to be damaged by any attacks according to the Pokédex at least

something about how Lanturn is the strongest because you can see its light at the top of the ocean which would take 100,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 times the amount of energy in the observable universe

This thread happened before and it was established that Lanturn is the strongest pokemon.
The thing is though that in a world where there are dragons and fairies, magic obviously exists. So just because something is unnatural in our world doesn’t mean it would be in the Pokémon world

Also just because Lanturn has near infinite power, doesn’t mean it can harness it
Also the Pokédex said vullaby can’t fly but it can learn fly so the Pokédex isn’t always reliable

Yeah, but Lanturn isn't magic (Junichi Masuda just called me and told me)

OK listen buddy, it CAN harness the power because it releases it which is why you can seeit on the surface of the water.

#2 you just said that macgargo is hotter than the sun which is a POKEDEX entry so make up your mind!! you can't have it both ways.!

By that logic you can't argue anything based on power because we don't know what is unnatural or not. Is it natural to live on the sun or to explore black holes or to travel through time?

Based on the OP you believe Ultra Necrozma is the strongest pokemon when all it does is absorb and unleash light. You know what other pokemon has canonically done that? Lanturn. If you don't believe Lanturn is strong you know, then Ultra Necrozma should be scaled to Lanturn because they have the exact same light-based powers.

Did I say margcargo was powerful? No. Sorry if I was unclear though. I was just saying that the Pokédex is unreliable and gave an example. Also if lanturn os so powerful how come it is so easy to beat?

But we’ve seen the results of ultra necrozmas power! It absorbed ALL of the natural light from an entire dimension. That includes every star, every nebula, anything that gives off light. Lanturn is just bright and we haven’t seen anything that can prove it’s power

Neil, you can't trust all the information out there on bulbapedia. The time squad has been running a campaign of disinformation to make people think that lame Pokemon like lanturn and magcargo are powerful. Lying is standard operating procedure to protect the true most powerful pokemon.

That's not fair either come on the Necrozma you hype up so much died to a level 1 Rattatta:

You have gotten the USUM lore wrong. The ultra space dimension didn't have any light in the first place, Ultra Necrozma was the one who was producing light for all the dimensions until people overabused it as a light source and caused it to become regular Necrozma who couldn't store any light. Meanwhile Lanturn's power is limitless and there has never been a Lanturn who has run out of light. Ultra Necrozma is worse than Lanturn at producing light and if Lanturn was in Ultra Space then USUM would have never happened.

So you will truly go?
Our Ultra Megalopolis was once a world filled with light... Necrozma was called the Blinding One, and it gave us all the energy we needed.
And in fact, we were not the only ones who basked in its light. It traveled even to the distant world of Alola by passing through the Ultra Wormholes!
But...our ancestors grew too greedy, and they caused Necrozma to lose a part of its body. And this in turn made Necrozma run wild... Help it if you can. We beg you...
Be careful, people of Alola... Necrozma is really strong.
There's nothing that we here can do... We can no longer control it with our technology, and we certainly have no hope of defeating it in battle ourselves...
The light of Necrozma once filled our world. And it did not shine upon us alone. It gave energy to many, throughout Ultra Space.
Yeah, Necrozma is amazing! That's why...if you could just help it calm down... I bet it would share its light with everybody again, like it used to. Please... You've got to help it!

EDIT: Even Alola's light comes from light Necrozma leaked out:
"Alola overflows with the light that was released by the Blinding One... I find myself rather envious."

So this is Tapu Village! We will need to investigate it quite thoroughly. According to the records we have left to us, it seems that this is where Necrozma battled against the tapu when it came to Alola long ago, hungering for its light.
It may be the case that the power which came pouring out of the Ultra Wormhole at that time is what changes Pokemon's regular moves into Z-Moves. Such theories have been suggested...
Our ancestors were greedy, and they sought to control all of Necrozma's light... But what was the result of all that? They only hurt Necrozma, making it lose a part of itself and causing it to run wild and steal all the light it could find!
That's why we have Necrozma cooped up in the Megalo Tower our great ancestors built. It contains Necrozma in its rage.[VAR 0114(0037)]
But that facility has reached its limit... And Necrozma hungers for light... That is why we came to Alola in hopes of finding a new method to defeat Necrozma. Yet...[VAR 0114(0036)]
It seems it will be a difficult mission for us, who are so new to Pokemon battling, to ever hope to defeat Necrozma.[VAR 0114(0036)]

So, this is Tapu Village... We must learn all we can about this place. It seems there are many stories in its past, but once, long ago, the Blinding One battled against the tapu in this spot.
It's thought the power that came pouring out of the Ultra Wormhole at that time may be the source of Z-Moves' power... Yes, the light that the Blinding One... I mean, the light that Necrozma can wield.[VAR 0114(0038)]
Our ancestors were greedy, though. They sought to control all of Necrozma's light... They hurt Necrozma... They left it incomplete, and in such a state, it went mad with fury... And so our light was stolen by Necrozma.
Our world is at peace now thanks to the Megalo Tower, which keeps the Blinding One contained. But we believe the tower is reaching its limit. And the Blinding One... Necrozma hungers for light.
The Blinding One may run wild in its fury, but it did also give us light once. So we would like to help restore the Blinding One to its true form. But we do not have even the slightest idea of how we can do that.

I link both because UM mentions restoring it to its true form while US mentions defeating it.

Being powerful lore wise outranks being powerful In game I said that in the op
And if you say that I said Lanturn is also easy to beat, weve never seen it be powerful outside of being really bright

That still means it’s powerful enough to bring light to all dimensions. And since there are infinite dimensions ultra necrozma is infinitely bright, if what you say is true anyways
