Hi. I'm shrang and your everyday battler on the Smogon server. I've written a few warstories here and there back in 4th gen but I haven't written another in a looooong time. So, after a standard night playing Pokemon, I found a match which I really enjoyed and decided to warstory it. It was against Furai, a user that I've become reasonably acquainted with on my time at Smogon, especially in Ubers. Note: In this battle, I'm using the alt “Erioca”. The title comes from one of the most famous poems in the world (you can look up yourself).
An animated version of the log is pasted below (acknowledgements to Furai for taking it):

I actually don't carry Crunch or Ice Punch on this Lucario, but instead Bullet Punch to kill Terrakion and Gengar with (and be a much bigger pain to offensive teams in general). Even then, Celebis are ridiculously unpredictable with their EV spreads and movesets so I shouldn't be able to assume a slow Celebi anyway. Time to bring Lucario back, I guess.

Yep, wouldn't have worked. Choice Band Tyranitar get a free switch-in. An unboosted Celebi can't kill Tyranitar with anything (apart from probably Life Orbed Leaf Storm, in which he doesn't have). So I bring in my own Celebi to take the Giga Drain, just to be on the safe side. His Celebi has Psychic and Giga Drain. If I were to hazard a guess, his last two moves are likely to be Nasty Plot and Hidden Power Fire or Recover. Standard Celebis don't run much speed, and mine runs enough to outspeed Adamant Gliscor. I'm pretty sure my Celebi would win if he decides to stay in.

Even then, Celebis are ridiculously unpredictable with their EV spreads and movesets so I shouldn't be able to assume a slow Celebi anyway. Time to bring Lucario back, I guess.

Start of turn 8
Erioca called Lucario back!
Erioca sent out Tyranitar!
The foe's Sell A Bee used Psychic!
It had no effect!
Yep, wouldn't have worked. Choice Band Tyranitar get a free switch-in. An unboosted Celebi can't kill Tyranitar with anything (apart from probably Life Orbed Leaf Storm, in which he doesn't have). It seems reasonably safe to Pursuit, in my opinion. Time for your Celebi to get stalked and killed on the way home!

Start of turn 9
The foe's Sell A Bee used Giga Drain!
It's super effective!
Tyranitar lost 180 HP! (47% of its health)
Tyranitar had its energy drained!
Tyranitar used Pursuit!
It's super effective!
The foe's Sell A Bee lost 63% of its health!
Ow, looks like I overpredicted. Tyranitar doesn't look very safe in this position at all. I could probably kill the Celebi, but it's a bit of gamble. What if he rolled minimum damage? My Tyranitar isn't that bulky. Time to high-tail it out of there. Just saying though, look how much Pursuit did. Choice Band Tyranitar FTW!

Start of turn 10
Erioca called Tyranitar back!
Erioca sent out Celebi!
The foe's Sell A Bee used Giga Drain!
It's not very effective...
Celebi lost 60 HP! (17% of its health)
Celebi had its energy drained!

Start of turn 11
Furai called Sell A Bee back!
Furai sent out Bangirasu! (Tyranitar)
Pointed stones dug into the foe's Bangirasu!
The foe's Bangirasu is hurt by spikes!
Celebi used Nasty Plot!
Celebi's Sp. Att. sharply rose!
Mm, not the best scenario here. Still, his Tyranitar has Pursuit, and if it's anything like those MixTars, then he won't be able to kill me. I don't have Giga Drain on this Celebi after getting my ass handed to me by Conkelderp (in which I promptly gave it Psychic). I do have Earth Power though.

Start of turn 12
Celebi used Earth Power!
It's super effective!
The foe's Bangirasu lost 50% of its health!
The foe's Bangirasu used Crunch!
It's super effective!
Celebi lost 242 HP! (69% of its health)
Owwwwww... that hurt a lot. He DOES have Crunch after all. Although, I'm surprised that it didn't kill me. Specially Defensive Tyranitar sure is weak. I really wonder what that Tyranitar is holding though. That Crunch did way too little to be Choice Band (See how much my Tyranitar's Pursuit did as compared to that Crunch). Chople Berry, maybe? LOL Shed Shell? Whatever, to hell with it.

Start of turn 13
Furai called Bangirasu back!
Furai sent out Landbro! (Landorus)
Pointed stones dug into the foe's Landbro!
Celebi used Earth Power!
It had no effect!
Well, that was useless. There's not much use for a 13% Celebi anyway, may as well let him U-turn to something and then bring in my answer to whatever comes in, I guess. Bye Celebi.

Start of turn 14
The foe's Landbro used U-turn!
It's super effective!
Celebi lost 47 HP! (13% of its health)
Celebi fainted!
Furai called Landbro back!
Furai sent out Washington! (Rotom-W)
Pointed stones dug into the foe's Washington!
The foe's Washington is buffeted by the sandstorm!
Erioca sent out Tyranitar!
X Celebi: Rolled

Score: 4-6
So he goes to Rotom-W, which I have virtually nothing to hurt it with. This is kind of bad. I would like this thing under 70% before I could try and sweep with Lucario with. It has no Leftovers, so I reckon this thing is Choice Scarfed (Specs is relatively rare). Hopefully, I can take a Hydro Pump with Tyranitar (or it misses), and then deal a truckload of damage to it with Stone Edge. If Tyranitar doesn't survive, I can also go in with Wobb and remove it.

Start of turn 15
The foe's Washington used Will-O-Wisp!
Tyranitar was burned!
Tyranitar used Stone Edge!
The attack of Tyranitar missed!
The foe's Washington is buffeted by the sandstorm!
Tyranitar is hurt by its burn!
WHAT THE HELL?! Which Choiced Rotom-W carries Will-O-Wisp? Anyway, that was just crap. Even a burned Tyranitar could have probably done 30-40% with Stone Edge. There is absolutely no use for Tyranitar any more, except to chip a little damage with Stone Edge into whatever he switches in.

Start of turn 16
The foe's Washington used Hydro Pump!
It's super effective!
Tyranitar lost 152 HP! (40% of its health)
Tyranitar fainted!
The sandstorm rages!
The foe's Washington is buffeted by the sandstorm!
Okay, I'm really confused now. What the hell is that Rotom carrying? Expert Belt? Wide Lens? So yeah, this isn't looking very good. I would hope to chip down that Rotom-W just a little bit more and then find an opportunity to bring in Lucario.

X Tyranitar: DROWN ALL'd
Score: 3-6
Erioca sent out Jirachi!
Jirachi is floating on a balloon!
Start of turn 17
Jirachi used Calm Mind!
Jirachi's Sp. Att. rose!
Jirachi's Sp. Def. rose!
The foe's Washington used Hydro Pump!
Jirachi lost 126 HP! (36% of its health)
Jirachi's Air Balloon popped!
This is looking pretty bad, actually. I'm on the way to getting 6-0'd. My Jirachi actually has nothing to take down that Rotom-W with whatsoever. Let's just give that Rotom-W a bit more damage and hope for the best.

The sandstorm rages!
The foe's Washington is buffeted by the sandstorm!
Start of turn 18
Jirachi used Flash Cannon!
It's not very effective...
The foe's Washington lost 14% of its health!
The foe's Washington used Volt Switch!
Jirachi lost 75 HP! (21% of its health)
Furai called Washington back!
Furai sent out Landbro! (Landorus)
Pointed stones dug into the foe's Landbro!
Well, that just failed completely. I'm changing this Jirachi set as soon as possible. I don't even know why I didn't use Thunderbolt, probably worried that he'll get a free switch-in to Landlos. So that's another death on my watch. Bye Jirachi.

Start of turn 19
The foe's Landbro used Earthquake!
It's super effective!
Jirachi lost 141 HP! (41% of its health)
Jirachi fainted!
Since his Rotom-W isn't Scarfed, I would hazard a guess that this Landorus is Scarfed, otherwise he'd be lacking revenge killers. Guess which Pokemon roflstomps Scarfers?
X Jirachi: Fell down a fissure created by the Earthquake

Score: 2-6
Erioca sent out Wobbuffet!
Wobbuffet: WOBBUFFET!!!!
Landorus: NOOOOOOOOOOO
Start of turn 20
The foe's Landbro used Earthquake!
Wobbuffet lost 243 HP! (46% of its health)
Wobbuffet used Counter!
The foe's Landbro lost 75% of its health!

Furai sent out Laidback! (Lucario)
Pointed stones dug into the foe's Laidback!
The foe's Laidback is hurt by spikes!
So, at this stage in the match, with my own Lucario still around, I do not want his Luke to set up, that would be gg. Fortunately for me, my Wobbuffet is running the spread that we use in Ubers. If he can survive a Specs Palkia Hydro Pump in the rain, I'd garner that he can take less than 54% from a Lucario Crunch to Encore it.

Start of turn 21
The foe's Laidback used Crunch!
It's super effective!
Wobbuffet lost 262 HP! (49% of its health)
The foe's Laidback is hurt by its Life Orb!
Wobbuffet used Encore!
The foe's Laidback received an encore!
Wobbuffet is buffeted by the sandstorm!
Wobbuffet fainted!
Perfect. Lucario's locked into Crunch, which means free setup for my own Lucario. Look at how beast that Wobb is. He survived a Sand Force boosted Earthquake AND a Life Orb boosted super effective move and managed to kill one and Encore the other. Wobb for Ubers!
X Wobbuffet: I GOT SAND IN MY EYE

Score: 1-4
Good! Now that Furai's jackal is locked into something harmless, I can finally unleash the storm. I'm 1-4 down, you say?
Lucario: “Kyaaaaaaaah!”

Oh yeah!
Erioca sent out Lucario!

Start of turn 22
Furai called Laidback back!
Furai sent out Washington! (Rotom-W)
Pointed stones dug into the foe's Washington!

...PAAWWNNCH!! Not so tough any more, are we, Skarmory? Look how beast Lucario is. Find me another Pokemon that has strong priority and can OHKO Skarm like that with a physical move not named Rock Arceus, I challenge you.

Erioca: sorry
Erioca: let me just do something

Yes, I'm going to shamelessly go do a damage calc. My Lucario is Adamant, so I'm speed-tieing with Furai's Lucario at best. So, after doing my damage calc, I see that +2 Adamant ExtremeSpeed does 52.48% - 61.70% to his Lucario. I really don't want to chance the Speed-tie here, and if his Lucario is Jolly, I'm losing full stop. Hopefully, this ExtremeSpeed can get a high damage roll and OHKO his Lucario, if not, we'll get a tie since it would die from Life Orb recoil anyway. So now, let's do that timpani roll!
Start of turn 26
Lucario used ExtremeSpeed!
It's not very effective...
The foe's Laidback lost 58% of its health!
Lucario is hurt by its Life Orb!
DAMN IT SO CLOSE
The foe's Laidback used Close Combat!

Ah well... I guess I was hoping for a bit much. I guess that's a tie then. No-one loses ladder points, which is nice. A very exciting match Furai, hope we can do more of these in the future!
Tie between Erioca and Furai!
Erioca: gg
Furai: omg
Furai: awesome match
X Super Saiyan Lucario: Double KO
X Furai's Lucario: Double KO

Props:
Furai, for being a great opponent
Me, for keeping up
Deoxys-S, for being one awesome entry hazard layer
Wobb, for being a broken piece of crap
The match, for being fast paced and exciting
Slops:
Jirachi, for doing absolutely nothing (but that's probably just me who gave it a bad set)
Some bad plays by me
And my MVP is...

Of course it's Lucario. I mean, what other Pokemon can bring back a match from 4-1 down? Calm Mind Manaphy, maybe, but hey. That jackal is one strong fucker.
Hopefully this was enjoyable to read. Catch you all next time!
