CBPZ Returns
by Shengineer and Aawin
:Porygon-z::munkidori::incineroar::flygon::bronzong::vaporeon:

This Bulky Offense team is built around the surprise breaking power of Choice Band Porygon-Z. The rest of the team is a relatively standard boots spam balance structure.

Watch Here! (YT)

:porygon-z: :munkidori:
The team was initially built around the inherent synergy between PZ and Munki. Munkidori struggles into special walls like Alolan Muk, which PZ can OHKO with a Double-Edge after a boost. Munkidori sports both U-turn to get PZ in to break, and Nasty Plot to clean up in its wake of destruction.
:Incineroar:
Up next, I added the obligatory Incineroar. It easily switches into most Ghost types that try to punish our choice-locked PZ, and helps break down Steel types that our original core could not.
:Flygon:
We were accruing quite the ground weakness at this point, and our team was lacking in the speed department, so we added a Choice Scarf Flygon to provide pivoting, revenge killing, and even hazard setting all in one slot. It was also at this point we commited to a boots spam idea, since we wanted to squeeze the most value out of our last few slots, and we're okay with letting PZ go after it has done its job.
:Bronzong:
Bronzong was added as a secondary wincon, and was chosen to provide us with an actual Fairy and Flying resist, and an answer to opposing Flygon. Since rocks are already covered, we went all-in on a double dance moveset.
:Vaporeon:
Lastly, a Vaporeon was added for a few reasons. Firstly, we have no water resist on the team, so without a water immune on the team we will fold to Rain teams. Second, our team really appreciates the added longevity from wishes, and they have just enough bulk to ensure we can actually pass the wish without dying. Finally, Roar adds a nice layer of safety against enemy setup sweepers like Feraligatr.

Specs PZ Webs
:galvantula::brambleghast::kilowattrel::porygon-z::lucario::feraligatr:

Webs is a classic archetype for PZ and I wanted to try it in this meta! It is a great breaker and trick is an important move right now! I went with adaptability over download since even though the boost is smaller, more often than not I'm only getting the attack raise and went for the always active mid ground.

Replays: 1 2
:galvantula::focus sash:Galvantula
Standard webs setter. Went for pounce + bug buzz which isn't traditional here because of the good damage bug buzz can do while still maintaining the speed drop from pounce that prevents a lot of things from boosting on galv.

:brambleghast::focus sash:BrambleGhast
Bramble is a secondary lead, spike setter, spinblocker, spinner, and gives set up opportunities with curse!

:kilowattrel::heavy duty boots:Kilowattrel
Kilo here is out defog punish as well as a fast special attacker. Rounds out the hazard related first half of the team and is a threat in its own right!

:porygon-z::choice specs:Porygon-Z
PZ if our first breaker and webs abuser! This mon hits hard and doesn't need much coverage to get the job done. Trick is used to cripple switch ins (like cress, amuk, and deod), while agility lets us boost after a trick to clean up a game. Agility could also be NP if you are more concerned about fat teams than offensive teams. Adaptability is used over download simply because of how unreliable download can be in the current meta.

:lucario::life orb:Lucario
Secondary webs abuser, and strong priority user! Lucario doesn't need webs but it lets it click CC vs more things which make this mon even scarier than it already is.

:feraligatr::life orb:Feraligatr
Gatr is incredibly good right now. Similarly to lucario, gatr doesn't need webs to function but this mon is so powerful at +2 and has good natural bulk. At worst gatr tends to trade with something but very few things can stand up to it at +2. DD gatr would also work well here.

Specs PZ + SD Croak Balance
1721755032056.png

:porygon-z: PZ - The starting point, our digital duck is equipped with specs for immediate firepower. Trick is on for crippling various setup threats and the rest is standard fare. Adaptability gives a more consistent boost to tri-attack and also allows to charge up shadow ball if need be

:umbreon: - I wanted to pair something here that could maybe allow PZ to get the jump on a few things with its middling speed, so opted for T-wave umbreon to spread para. Umbreon gives useful recovery and bulk to the team and an emergency answer to most Lucario by way of Tera poison.

:Diancie: - Diancie provided good role compression here with rocks, added bulk on both sides and can maintain offensive pressure.

:Talonflame: - I chose talon as the hazard removal for the team to round out the utility/defensive group and add ability to cripple physical threats with burn and provide a ground immunity.

:Toxicroak: - SD set to add another heavy hitter and also a classic Vape answer as well as some help into rain teams.

:Flygon: - Finally I added Flygon as an additional ground immunity because of croak compounding that weakness, and as a top choice pivoting option and speed control/cleaner.

Double Illusion + P-Z Shenanigans
:porygon-z: :zoroark: :zorua-hisui: :lucario: :breloom: :deoxys-defense:

:deoxys-defense: The dedicated lead for the team. Due to it being an HO-oriented build I decided to use a lead Deodorant. Setting Spikes, Rocks, and removing items is all it does, and is never used in the illusion games.

:zoroark: :zorua-hisui: These 2 pair well together thanks to Illusion playing mind games with your opponents. Is it Lucario? Porygon-Z? Zoroark? Or even Hisuian Zorua? They may never know. Their movepools are heavily based around moves that Porygon-Z learns, which adds to the Illusion.

:lucario: I needed something extra and decided to go with another Special Attacker that fits the theme of these previous Pokemon. Naturally using Shadow Ball pairs well with Zorua and Porygon-Z, while Nasty Plot adds to the mind games as both Illusioners can use it, too.

:breloom: I wanted something physical on this tea as well as something that can Swords Dance to act as a Zoroark in disguise. I went with Breloom due to its strength and priority, though Toxicroak may fit the build as well. I chose Bulldoze because the team is very weak to Alolan Muk. It did initially have Rock Tomb over Bulldoze, as seen in a replay.

:Heavy-Duty Boots: This broken item finds itself on everything but Deoxys. Nothing will take hazard damage and you'll never know if that Breloom that just swapped in is actually Zoroark or not, hiding any potential hazard (mostly Stealth Rock) damage that can give away what is what.

Season 1, Week 3: Inteleon & Toxicroak
:sv/inteleon: :sv/toxicroak:

This week we have what is becoming a classic combo, Inteleon and Toxicroak! These aquatic herptiles have great offensive synergy and Toxicroak can use its dry skin ability to set up on water types like Vaporeon that would otherwise wall Inteleon! What kind of team will you build? How will you support this offensive core? Make the best team possible using any sets on Inteleon and Toxicroak and post them here! Remember to familiarize yourself with the formatting requirements in the original post if you haven't already and don't forget to include at least one replay.

Submissions are open now and close Tuesday July 30th at around 10pm EST (GMT -6). Happy building!

IntelCroak Snow
Inteleon is great at dealing with Fire- and Rock-types, and Toxicroak excels at beating bulky Water-types. These traits make it work well on a snow team, as they check what may impede its sweep.
:pmd/abomasnow: : As with all snow teams, this is a mandatory parter. Aurora Veil + 3 attacks lets it help out Cetitan with setting up, and it can be a mini wallbreaker at times. I chose to go defensive because, with Snow boost, Abomasnow can even live super effective physical hits. Tera Water helps absorb any incoming Fire-type attack.

:pmd/cetitan: : The star of the show, Cetitan is amazing at cleaning up games with Belly Drum, its high-Base Power attacks, and STAB priority. Tera Ground is nice to boost up Earthquake, and it sheds its Ice typing.

:pmd/inteleon: : Heavy-Duty Boots + Taunt is a set I've been loving on Inteleon recently, as it blocks set up sweepers and helps beat walls alike. Tera Ghost also ensures Lucario can't sweep this team without a second thought.

:pmd/toxicroak: : With how hard fat Water-types are to KO with Cetitan, Toxicroak can take advantage of Inteleon's U-turn to beat them beforehand. The EV spread outspeeds Breloom and uninvested Toxicroak with the rest in HP. Tera Dark blocks Psychic-type attacks while simultaneously boosting Sucker Punch.

:pmd/espeon: : Espeon holds back hazard setters and doubles as a pivot for Cetitan after Abomasnow has set Aurora Veil or otherwise. Espeon also works as an effective semi breaker with Psychic Noise and powerful attacks. Tera Fairy both resists super effective Dark-type attacks and boosts Alluring Voice.

:pmd/flygon: : Flygon acts as an early pivot that can set hazards and, once again, functions as a semi-wallbreaker. Its Electric and Ground immunities are also greatly appreciated by the team. Tera Steel blocks Dragon-, Fairy-, and Ice-type attacks from taking care of Flygon as easily.

Intel Croak Boots Spam
:inteleon::toxicroak::flygon::bronzong::sylveon::incineroar:

NU hazard control is... not in the best state. Talonflame is great but you are often wanting to use other fire types and not stack them, brambleghast is a great offensive mon but it isn't the most reliable spinner. Tsar and the rest are... ok. An archetype I've really been enjoying is boots spam. If you build a team that doesn't care about hazards you can just ignore them! This does take up a lot of your item slots, but in return you get a free team slot (since you don't have to slot a remover), and it frees up turns (they don't really gain anything on turns they set up hazards and you also don't have to give up turns removing them). That is what I set out to make here! Flygon and bronzong are both levitate mons who resist rocks so they are naturally almost immune to hazards and everything else is running :heavy duty boots:! The team is fairly straight forward otherwise so I won't elaborate much more here.

Replays: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5
:Inteleon::heavy duty boots:Inteleon
Inteleon is the first part of our offensive core with toxicroak here. Intel is naturally fast and powerful and makes a great offensive pivot luring in water types (mostly vape) for toxicroak to abuse. Taunt is a cool option here (thanks pom!) and helps to stop recovery and set up. Tera Ghost is primarily for lucario but also nice vs scarf shao.

:toxicroak::heavy duty boots:Toxicroak
Toxicroak is the second part of our offensive core. It abuses vaporeon that inteleon brings in, has a great set of resists, and is a very threatening SD sweeper! Croak also threatens fairies that try and check flygon, and gives the team priority in sucker punch. You could potentially run lefties and/or drain punch here for longevity, but I valued the spikes immunity of boots (given the no removal) and power of cc.

:flygon::choice scarf:Flygon
Flygon should probably be the scarfer on every boots spam style team. As mentioned in the general description, it is naturally almost immune to the hazards we plan on ignoring and is one of the best scarfers in the tier. A notable change you can make here is to run rocks over stone edge on Flygon and change zong to the demon set. I decided to keep stone edge here because I value hitting talonflame on the switch for toxicroak.

:bronzong::leftovers:Bronzong
Bronzong is another mon that finds more and more places on my teams. Similarly to flygon it is naturally almost immune to hazards so it is also a great pick for this type of team! I think it is the best bulky steel right now other than klefki. Here it is our rocks setter and is sporting iron press and psychic noise. Bronzong checks a ton of things in the tier with its typing / ability! As mentioned above you can put rocks on flygon and run the demon zong set here for an additional win-con and the ability to 1v1 cress, but I valued the slot on flygon more here. Speaking of flygon, zong is also a very nice flygon check!

:sylveon::heavy duty boots:Sylveon
Sylveon completes the dragon fairy steel core with flygon and bronzong, supports the team (especially bronzong) with wishes, provides a cm win-con late game, and is our primary fighting check.

:incineroar::heavy duty boots:Incineroar
I'm not sure if I've made a team recently that doesn't want an incineroar on it. In the last slot I needed a more solid cresselia answer, an incineroar switch in (it is a little shaky there but fine since most of the team threatens it offensively too), and an important dark/ghost/fire resistances (for bronzong and fire for croak as well). This is our standard offensive incineroar, this time using earthquake so we can hit opposing incin. This is the slot that you would normally have to fit removal, but in running boots spam we gain a whole incin! Originally I had a tauros-paldea-fire in this slot to check opposing incin, but I realized I valued the other aspects of using my own incin more (mainly the dark typing and being a better cress answer.)

Beartic Rain
:inteleon: :toxicroak: :tornadus: :beartic: :kingdra: :klefki:
So, I was trying out a few different playstyles that I thought would work with this core, and the one I ended up with is rain. This team aims to use strong breakers that are able to outspeed the opponent by different means while using the rain condition. oh yeah, and I used beartic :)
:pmd/inteleon: So, starting out I wanted to do something a little bit differently with inteleon. With specs was great, I thought that inteleon can sometimes be outspeed by boosted mons, which can cut back on its threat potential. So why not give it a choice scarf instead? This allows inteleon to outspeed boosted threats which might overwhelm it, and due to rain, inteleon when using water moves (which you should be using) basically has specs and scarf on. Standard moveset, with tera ghost to deal with lucarios e-speed and brelooms mach punch.

:pmd/toxicroak: Toxicroak is a mon which loves the rain, and it really benefits rain. Due to dry skin and lefties, toxicroak can heal massive amounts of health each turn, around 18.75% if my math is correct. This allows toxicroak to much more easily switch into attacks like various fighting type cc's. From here, toxicroak can punish them with its stab moves. It also can easily switch into the water types that may wall the rest of the team, specifically vaporeon, to start setting up. But this overall is just the standard set because it does well.

:pmd/tornadus: The first rain setter, this is just the standard set. It sets up rain, pivots out to the rain sweepers and hits hard. Tera steel can be really good as a defensive option, so don't underestimate it.

:pmd/beartic: So, the first swift swimmer of the team, I'll explain here why I chose beartic. Normally, beartic is a bad mon. It has sky high 130 base attack, and alright defenses, but is held back severly by an ice typing and slow speed. However, it has ways to circumvate these issues due to its abilities. Slush rush and for this team, swift swim, double its speed in a weather condition. For swift swim, it allows beartic to become a devestating sweeper that outspeeds most unboosted threats. You can afford adamant since 398 speed outspeeds everything relevant (unless electrode becomes popular) unboosted. Now, what can beartic provide to rain? Well, ice typing is big for rain, allowing them to destroy the grass and dragon types that might wall their water moves, and its sheer power combined with sd means no wall is going to be living its hits. SD of course, allows beartic to boost itself to insane levels. Icicle spear combined with loaded dice is a 100-125 bp stab move that rips through most things. Close combat can deal with incineroar, steel types and water types that resist its stab move. E-quake rounds out the coverage to make sure basculegion doesn't wall it, though if you are alright with mascu walling beartic, then aqua jet or liquidation can be slotted in. Finally, tera fighting boosts the power of CC and removes beartic of its awful typing, allowing it to take a hit and resist flygon's first impression.

:pmd/kingdra: Of course, I needed a secondary swift swimmer, and what better mon for that then kingdra. Kingdra is able to clean the faster teams that beartic may struggle with. I decided timid over modest in order to get the speed jump on stuff like +1 cincinno and scarf raikou (which I did see on ladder lmao). The rest is just the standard set, though hurricane can be used over flip turn if you want to hit grasses harder.

:pmd/klefki: Finally, the second rain setter, this klefki set is a very utility heavy set. Spikes weakens up the enemy team for the sweepers, t-wave can cripple opponents, rain dance of course sets up rain for the sweepers and foul play means any attempts to boost on it will be stopped. Tera water can help defensively, though it isn't used that often.

Specs Intel + SD Croakers

Intelecroak was the topic of the week for this thread and I made a cool team with them since they compliment each other

:inteleon: The first part of the core. I gave it :choice-specs: with Tera Water and why not? This thing hits hard and there's only so many things that can switch into it like Vaporeon.

:toxicroak: Speaking of Vaporeon, this thing walls its attack (Scald) and can set up on Vaporeon. Tera Dark to give those Sucker Punches a little extra oomph. I was considering LO on this set, but lefties just feels better in the long run.

:chandelure: At a glance, the team needed a Cresselia check since the aforementioned core can't beat it (esp. the CM set), so I brought in my own CM mon to keep it in check. Tera Grass can help here too for extra Energy Ball damage, but Fairy makes it a better Fighting check that it already is (resist Knock). It's also possible to run Trailblaze over Energy Ball with Tera Grass to let it function as a "scarfer" but with Chandy, it's all about damage output and CM suits it better in that area.

:flygon: Speaking of scarfers, Flygon is this team's scarfer. And yes, I went rocks on the scarf set and that could easily be given to Registeel but I didn't see any other better move aside from Stone Edge to put on it.

:registeel: Typical Steel and special wall. Again, rocks could easily be put here over Iron Defense or TWave. But for now, the set works. Tera Ghost for checking Fightings in a pinch.

:talonflame: The hazard control for the team and Fighting check. The EVs let it outspeed opposing non-scarfed Inteleon (base 120s) and the rest goes into bulk. Gets to pivot via U-turn and has Tera Steel for those pesky Rock moves.

Beat a ladder tour player with the team right HERE

Ok at stoppage time the winning team arrived.

Volt Turn Balance/F other Flygons

:inteleon::toxicroak::Galvantula::Avalugg::Umbreon::Flygon:

The team playstyle is really simple, Volt-Turn the enemy until they are weak enough to get cleaned by Croak wile having Umbreon/Lugg to guarantee mid term defensive plays and keep setup sweepers and hazards at bay.

  • :sv/inteleon: It here to support Croak by being the secondary option for multiple bases the team needs to cover. Is the secondary speed control option after scarf Flygon, take cares of CM/Iron Def boost with Haze and is the secondary SpA of the team after Galv. On top of all it participate on the U-turn spam chain and with Crits Snip Shots can do serious dmg even without boosting.

  • :sv/toxicroak: It just the win con of the team. If it can click +2 tera dark suckers on 50% mons there isn't games it can't win. Balloon is here to get unsuspected Flygons and add another window to grab easy boots. Other a little different choice is Drain Punch, surprisingly Croak has some good defensive utility adding some survivability is good. If you need straight up dmg +2 Gunk Shot is usually more than enough.

  • :sv/Galvantula: Look! Its not Spyder. Specs Galv hits really well coming from a amazing speed. It fakes a webs team (even if Umbreon/Lugg should already show it) And Grass/Bug/Electric is a really nice coverage . Finally Specs Volts are really nice to position wile doing some significative dmg.

  • :sv/Avalugg: Well , physical wall with spin nothing new but for that role compression there isn't a single mon that do as well as it. Sturdy give you the ability to guaranty doing your job as a removal or even throwing some descent atk coming from your base 117. Good mon for the job it needs to be doing.

  • :sv/Umbreon: The other side of the coin but a much better mon in general, it's a special wall that is here to stop boosting sweepers with toxic and Foul Play ( that's why the Def investment) and still do its job being able to take on even something stupid as +1 Specs Pz. And with the traditional wish toxic set it can be an independent win con.

  • :sv/Flygon: The best mon on the tier so is a no brainer for last slot, use the scarf build to add some speed control, another levitate mon, an electric immunity. Possibly would be good to put rocks on it though.
