ORAS OU Mega Gallade Centered Team

Started off with mega gallade an excellent mega choice due to it has ability to set up, bulk and speed, as well as nice coverage.

Early on I realize that talonflame and mega mence annoy my team and gallade a lot along with other pokemon. Rotom-W which walls talon and is bulky enough to severely cripple m mence with burn while taking a +1 dragon Claw. Many mence centered-teams are absolutely crippled without mence so it is a good option. Also bisharp annoys the heck out of this team so it is good for burning and destroying physical sweepers

TalonFlame
Priority Brave Bird is an absolute saver as well as if it switches in to something like keld.

Landorus-T

For a nice scarfed sweeper and intimidate is nice especially if it is to finish off mence as well as using

Cresselia

Sets up Dual Screens, Lunar Dance Support for Gallade, and special Wall

Latios
Special Sweeper, Defog support. You need to run Dazzling Gleam rather than surf as Mega Sabe wrecks.
Gallade-Mega @ Galladite
Ability: Inner Focus
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Drain Punch
- Zen Headbutt
- Swords Dance
- Knock Off

Gallade has a very nice dual STAB that hits almost everything super effectively. It has incredible stats. It is fast, bulky somewhat and can set up. Standard Fast Physical Sweeper spread so it can hit first. Drain Punch was chosen over Close Combat due to that Gallade sets up as well and drain punch increases the time it can stay in. Zen Headbutt is STAB and coverage with Knock Off to deal with Psychic types who resist both of Gallade's STABs. A problem would be something like Gardevoir which only takes

252+ Atk Mega-Gallade Knock Off vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Mega Gardevoir: 132-156 (47.6 - 56.3%) -- 84.8% chance to 2HKO

Meaning threats that wall Gallade or have priority should be taken out prior to Gallade entering to set up. Ferro can also be a problem with iron barbs and rocky helmet.

This leads us to talonflame

Talonflame @ Sharp Beak
Ability: Gale Wings
EVs: 88 HP / 252 Atk / 168 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Brave Bird
- Flare Blitz
- Roost

Talonflame is important to the team to take out common gallade walls and it is fast, hits hard, and with proper prediction even set up. It's priority Brave Bird is something that places it beyond others with dealing with the very common gren, weakened mence, and Mega Gard. It can take out many threats to this team. Roost is nice for recovery, SD for set up, Brave Bird, and Flare Blitz is trivial for reasoning. It can hit hard and fast which is good for my team. Switching it in to certain threats make it have the ability to set up and do even more nasty damage. It is walled by Heatran and Rotom-W so it shouldn't come out and set up if the opponent has one of the two still in.

Rotom-Wash @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 248 HP / 216 Def / 44 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Hydro Pump
- Volt Switch
- Will-O-Wisp
- Pain Split

Rotom-W is bulky and is very nice utility on a team. It cripples sweepers with WoW and overly confident mega mence users with dragon claw and not Return / Sub / Roost / DD tend to try Dragon Claw making a perfect chance to destroy it with WoW removing a huge hazard swiftly.

252+ Atk Mega-Salamence Dragon Claw vs. 252 HP / 212+ Def Rotom-W: 138-163 (45.3 - 53.6%) -- 1.2% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
and this is after DD. This is completely amazing to do when an over confident trainer with mence tries to blindly attack Rotom-W. With this said, you need to keep rotom-W alive so you can deal with Return / Sub / Roost / DD mence which will switch out immediately after you switch in with rotom.

Landorus-Therian (M) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
IVs: 30 Atk / 30 Def
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Knock Off
- U-turn

Like it or not Lando is a serious threat in OU. And on my team it can be beastly when taking out threats to Gallade. It smashes past many threats and is good with switches. Choice Scarf set takes advantage of it's decent speed and makes it fast enough to outspeed several threats. Not much to say as it's role is pretty clear about what it is to do.

Cresselia (F) @ Light Clay
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
- Lunar Dance
- Light Screen
- Psyshock
- Reflect

I needed support for my team as well as a special Wall. Cresselia does both very well. It can set up dual screens early and even bring out Mega Mence nicely. Psyshock deals with gengar and threats to my team if gallade is lost and lunar dance is, to most opponents' annoyance, to bring back a weakened gallade which can happen due to wear as it tries to attack. Dual Screens are also good to let gard set up while protected even letting Gallade survive Talon Brave Bird
252 Atk Sharp Beak Talonflame Brave Bird vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Mega-Gallade: 194-230 (70 - 83%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
with Reflect of course

Latios (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Psyshock
- Draco Meteor
- Defog

I need to switch around a lot so naturally entry hazards are a problem so LO Latios is a great defogger and special Sweeper. It deals with a severe team weakness to Mega Sabe with devastating Draco Meteor which few can safely switch into which is always good. Psyshock is for annoyances and special walls that love to switch in. Draco Meteor tends to take care of dragons and it baits in Salamence nicely. HP Fire wrecks scizor who loves to try to either U-turn or Pursuit.

252 SpA Life Orb Latios Draco Meteor vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Mega-Sableye: 246-290 (102 - 120.3%) -- guaranteed OHKO

252 SpA Life Orb Latios Draco Meteor vs. 0 HP / 252 SpD Sableye: 199-235 (82.5 - 97.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Overall this is my first planned out ORAS Team that I think this introduces a few ideas worth considering. Personally I think that maybe running Mence instead of Gallade could run really good on this team, but I want opinions before I tweak anything. I made sure that this team could hit hard without Gallade.

Hiya! This team seems pretty cool, and I have some suggestions:
  • First off, I would suggest using U-Turn over Swords Dance on Talonflame. While Swords Dance is a great move that can allow Talonflame to set up, especially if you predict a switch, U-Turn is significant because it brings offensive momentum to a game, as well as allowing you to switch out when you predict a switch-in. It also forms a nice VoltTurn core with Rotom-W.
  • On Cresselia, I would switch Magic Coat with Psyshock. Psyshock is a great STAB that would allow Cresselia to smash through specially defensive Pokemon. In addition, it 2HKO's Gengar, which is a big threat to your team if M-Gallade goes down.
  • You might want to switch Grass Knot/Energy Ball with Roost on Latios. While you want a way to hit Rotom-W, Grass Knot is somewhat unreliable because of its variability in power, and Draco Meteor is more powerful against Rotom-W than Energy Ball would be.
    Here's some calcs:
    252 SpA Life Orb Latios Energy Ball vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Rotom-W: 242-286 (79.6 - 94%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
    252 SpA Life Orb Latios Grass Knot (20 BP) vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Rotom-W: 57-68 (18.7 - 22.3%) -- possible 6HKO after Leftovers recovery
    252 SpA Life Orb Latios Draco Meteor vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Rotom-W: 261-308 (85.8 - 101.3%) -- 12.5% chance to OHKO
Because of mobile limitations, I couldn't provide a full rate, but I'll take another look at the team when I get on the computer.
Good luck on your team! =)

This team actually looks really solid for the most part. A few things though :

- I would run Close Combat over Drain Punch on Gallade. Drain Punch recovery is certainly nice, but I really think the ability to hit physical walls such as Skarmory and Rotom-W is worth losing longevity over. Given that Gallade is your main wallbreaker, you want it to be able to pummel stuff hard, otherwise you're prone to struggle against bulkier teams.

- I disagree with the above post saying that you should use U-turn on Talonflame. U-Turn doesn't really work on Talonfalme sets that don't run Choice Band, and you already have a VoltTurn core regardless. SD Talonflame actually has fantastic synergy with Gallade since it gives you a win condition against offensive teams (unlike Gallade who is at its most efficient against defensive ones), and the greatest stop to Mega-Gallade on Stall, Mega Sableye, is set up on by Talonfalme. On the flipside, Gallade threatens Sand Cores on offense which are a big problem for Talonflame. So yeah, this pair of SDers actually seems really well thought out, and you definitely need SD on Talonflame to take advantage of Gallade's counters.

- I'm not entirely convinced you need Hidden Power Fire on Latios. Between Gallade, Talonflame and Rotom-W, you have many ways to take advantage of Ferrothron and Scizor. One option I think could be better would be to run Earthquake over Hidden Power Fire on Latios. This enables you to lure Heatran and remove it so that Talonflame can sweep. While you do have anwsers to Heatran much like you do have answers to Ferro/Scizor, the big difference here is that your answers to Ferro and Zor are your win conditions, so you don't need to clear them out for a sweep like you might want to for Heatran. Another option would be Surf. This lets you hit Tyrantiar, another Talonflame counter, quite hard all the while hitting Heatran, and you don't have to run a defective nature for it which is nice. However Earthquake hits Heatran much harder, and can still deal damage to it even when you have used Draco Meteor the turn before. Still, Surf can weaken Heatran to the point where it's no longer a concern for Talonflame. I guess another option would be Thunderbolt to deal with bulky Water types which you have a slight weakness to, particularly Calm Mind Slowbro, better. This one is really up to you in all honesty, it all boils down to what yoy personally have a hard time dealing with.

- You appear to be extremely weak to Unaware Clefable. Simply put, it walls your entire team. While Magic Guard variant is setup fodder for Talonflame, th Uanware variant completely walls it regardless of boosts. One way I guess you can fix this is by running Psychic over Psyshock to lure Clefable. However I would not recommend this since it, in return, leaves you weaker to Mega-Gardevoir, another huge threat to your team (Talon can kinda switch in but that's not really enough, since Garde can just Psyshock and end you). Also, it fails against specially defensive variants. You have a big weakness to Fairy types in general The only good way you can fix this is by replacing a member of your team.

- You also lack Stealth Rock support. This can be a problem, since Stealth rocks really help Gallade net some important KOs. You can fix both of these issues by running Jirachi over Cresselia. You do lose Screens support, however in return, you gain the ability to reliably beat Clefable and Mega-Gardevoir, Stealth Rock support, you can also choose to run Wish support (which helps Rotom-W and Lando-T a lot), Healing Wish support, U-Turn Support (highly recommend this last one since it lets you lure in stuff like Bisharp/Scizor for Gallade/Talon to smash, and greatly helps you get these two in safely in general), it's really up to what you feel your team needs. Besides Screens Cresselia doesn't bring too much to your team, so I don't think it would be a huge loss all things considered.

Hope this helps!

I noticed this team has trouble with Mega Bro any tips?
I think your problem is that your team is way too physical based. I would either replace Talonflame with:

Thundurus (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Hasty Nature
- Volt Switch
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Thunderbolt
- Knock Off

Or replace Landerous with:

Magnezone @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Magnet Pull
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Thunderbolt
- Flash Cannon
- Volt Switch

EDIT: I would like to point this out: Because your team is too Physical based, it can have trouble with not only MegaBro, but also with Skarmory and Ferrothorn, because they are all physical walls. There are probably more I haven't mentioned.

Hmm. I do think HP Fire is not good on Latis, but rather surf. I actually have no problem with skarm nor Ferro or any physical wall for that matter. I just don't know if there is a counter to cm bro

I am testing Gren on my team.

I wouldn't replace Talonflame, its synergy with Gallade is pretty key for this team. I can see how you might have a lot of trouble getting past Slowbro though. Dark Pulse Greninja or Thundurus are both good options for dealing with them (Greninja is probably prefferable since it can lure Fairies for Gallade via Gunk Shot), but I'm not too sure about what to replace. Removing Rotom-W could be the way to go, but that leaves you with an unfortunate Azumarill and MMence weakness. Thunderbolt on Latios could help too but I'm not sure you can break it after one Calm Mind. Really, the best way to deal with MBro is to just not let it come in for free. Don't send out Gallade or Talonflame and just spam VoltTurn with your other Pokemon until MBro goes down. You can also try to overwhelm it with physical attacks until it breaks.
