item clause is to add some diversity in item selection.

I don't see how this'd need to apply for LC only when OU is made up of Choice items, Life Orb, Leftovers, and the odd Sash or type-resisting berry. To my knowledge, anyhow. =P Choice items can be difficult in LC, and Life Orb, Oran, and Sash are really the only big options for LC.

It was also generally agreed that Item Clause should not be an LC standard here.

Item Clause shouldn't be enforced, because it's not enforced in any other metagame. In reality it restricts more than it diversifies.
