I'm surprised nobody has bothered to make a thread about Latias yet, what with all of the controversy she caused last gen. She is one of my favourite Pokémon though, so I figured I might has well make a thread about her.

Dragon of choice
Latias @ Choice Specs/Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
76 HP/252 Sp.Atk/180 Speed
Timid Nature
-Draco Meteor/Dragon Pulse
-Surf
-Hidden Power Fire/Thunderbolt
-Psycho Shock/Trick
Now everyone knows these sets from Generation IV. Both can be amazing sets and really hard to take down if they are utilised correctly, however they do have pretty solid counters such as Blissey, who even with trick could give Latias problems since you weren't doing much to it, Tyranitar, who could absorb most of your attacks with ease and either kill you with pursuit or a scarf crunch, and bulky steels, who could absorb all of Latias' attacks unless she ran HP fire, which she would usually run in place of trick meaning if she did run HP fire, she wouldn't be getting past Blissey. However, now thanks to certain additions to her movepool, she can get by these. Draco Meteor is there to hit just about anything that isn't a steel type or Blissey for good damage, however Dragon Pulse is always an option if you don't want to be switching out as much, which, if Scizor and Tyranitar are as prominent as they were last gen, you won't want to be doing too much. Surf is there to hit Pokemon like Tyranitar, Shanderaa and Heatran for good damage. Hidden Power Fire is there to hit the steel type Pokemon hard, meaning that they will have a much harder time switching into Latias than normal. Thunderbolt is an alternate option, and if you're going for neutral coverage it might be the better option of the 2, however you can hit most of the electric weak Pokémon are hit harder by Latias' STAB Draco Meteor. Both of the last slots give you something to use against Blissey. Specs Psycho Shock does between 318 and 374 (Worked out using Marilland's damage calculator, it's the only one that I can currently do this damage calc on that I can find) to 252 HP/252 Def with a defense raising nature Blissey, however if Blissey switches in as you use Psycho Shock and then you use it again on Blissey it will do 636-748 damage, meaning you get a chance to 2HKO Blissey, which is very good for a special attacker. Trick is there to cripple any Pokemon setting up on you or to cripple Pokemon trying to wall you. I'd say Psycho Shock is the better option with specs and Trick is better with scarf, due to Psycho Shock's decent damage output with specs that can't be achieved with a scarf. The item choice comes down to if you want Latias to be a revenge killer or a more damaging Poké. If you want the former, go with scarf, if you want the latter, go with specs. The EVs are there to allow you to outspeed positive natures base 100 speed Pokemon like Salamence when you are running HP Fire. You can run 80 HP/252 Sp.Atk/184 Speed if you are running thunderbolt over HP Fire. The reason that full speed is not added is so that this set has something over choice Latios, decent bulk, because without that choice Latios is better in every way.
Support Latias
Latias @ Leftovers/Light Clay
Ability: Levitate
252 HP/236 Def/20 Sp.Def
Bold Nature
-Reflect
-Light Screen
-Wish/Recover
-Protect/Draco Meteor/Thunder Wave/Toxic
Now support is really where Latias stands out from her brother. The reason why so much defense is run is for one reason, pursuits. CB Tyranitar's pursuit (I think that's the strongest pursuit) only does 47.8% - 56.6% to this Latias without reflect up if you stay in. If you do have reflect up it only does 23.6% - 28.6% to this Latias if you stay in, possibly allowing you to stall it out with your recovery move of choice. CB Scizor's U Turn only does 81.3% - 96.2% to Latias without Reflect up, and it may sound unimpressive at first but for Latias that is pretty good. Reflect and Light Screen are there so any sweepers on your team will have an easier time setting up. The choice of recovery move depends on what you intend for Latias to do. Wish is more suited for if you want to switch more, and being pursuit weak actually helps Latias wish pass, as it means that the reciever of the wish takes no damage as they come in and take the wish. Recover is more suited if you intend for Latias to stay in and stall opponents out so she has an easier time healing herself since there is no wait involved. There are a lot of moves that could go in the last slot. Protect allows you to scout what your opponent is going to do to Latias, and allows you to react accordingly. Draco Meteor allows you to not be taunt bait, and the special attack drop doesn't really matter since this Latias isn't meant to be offensive. Thunder Wave is there if your team needs paralysis support and, if you're lucky enough, will give you a free switch out from something like Tyranitar if they get paralysed as you switch out and they try to pursuit you. Toxic gives you an option to stall out Pokémon, and with this kind of bulk, that won't be much of a problem for Latias if toxic is used with recover, as instant recovery makes toxic stalling much easier than 2 turn recovery.
