My thoughts:
The battle music is AMAZING. I don't think I've seen anyone talk about it yet, but it's so good.
The woodpecker is cute, I'll probably use it but I think this game I may not be using the early game flying type due to having Rowlet.
The mongoose looks... not good. That mouth is just creepy. But, I do love the idea of a Pokemon imported into the region to deal with the overpopulation of another Pokemon (likely a rat or snake, which DOES happen in real life), which I don't think they've done before.
Grubbin? Meh. Never liked bugs, so I'll probably pass on that.
Also, the fact that it shows effectiveness is pretty cool. I'm kind of more partial to knowing the type chart and I think that kind of makes things too easy, but I get why they did it and it'll be nice not to have to think about fairy-type so much. However, the one thing I'm bummed about it, since in a month or two I plan to go info-blind and stop checking things, there won't be as much of the "ooh what type is this pokemon?" moments. I won't be playing the guessing game at all to figure it out, it'll just be known by how the types effect it.
Not exactly. The thing is, this encourages people not to just simply target one player. Normally, in a 4-way match, you might see everyone else target one person to make their ranking better, and if people do that here then the battle just ends. It encourages you to defeat as many Pokemon as possible and spread the kills amongst the other players, instead of just targeting one.

Am I the only one disappointed with Battle Royale mode? Ending the battle as soon as a single player runs out of Pokemon goes against the point of a free-for-all imo
