Pokémon: Masquerain
Typing: Bug-Flying
Abilities: Compound Eyes, Drizzle, Intimidate
Stats: 70/60/62/163/82/163 (BST 600)
New Moves: Sleep Powder, Hurricane, Rain Dance, Rage Powder (Air Slash, U-Turn)
Competitive (niche in Ubers): Blessed with a base 163 Special Attack, 163 Speed and Compound Eyes, Masquerain now becomes the most insane Pokemon in the game, with the ability to send its best checks and counters to Sleep, then proceed to set-up with Quiver Dance. It’s roles aren’t just mitigated to that either, as it has a variety of moves Andrew abilities so it will never become stale. Unfortunately, it has a crippling weakness to Stealth Rock, as well as the ever-present Stone Edge and Ice Beam. However, it’s greatest enemy is Sleep Clause, reducing the number of Pokemon it can send to sleep. Nevertheless, Masquerain is one of the most interesting Pokemon here.

Abilities: Forecast
Stats: 100/100/100/100/100/100 (BST 600)

Even better, the ability to change typing makes it extremely strong. However, opposing weather can potentially disrupt it. This is, however, a rather minor weakness, and there can be no doubt that Castform is a force to be reckoned with.

Edit 2: how could I forget? Happy birthday OM!
Thank YOU too! I’ve made the changes, and if Castform seems a little too OverPowered, do inform me so I can nerf it ASAP. I hope I don’t need to though.Thank you for the Happy Birthday wishes!
I appreciate that and am so glad to see these acknowledgments!
With no obligation, I thought it may be helpful to consider adding Hurricane, Aurora Veil, and / or Shore Up?
I see you added EQ. If you need a Special Attack that gains a boost from Sandstorm Weather, you can also use QuickSand.
This is from my Sunfisk post, so its not a new Slate 9 custom move
Quicksand
Custom Move Information (if applicable): Quicksand - Ground-type, Special, Hits all foe’s (2 Versus 2), 110 BP, 90% Acc, 10 PP (max: 16)
Custom Move Description (what effects it has): If Sandstorm is active, the target is partially trapped (traps 4-5 turns).
I just wanted to provide any ideas that further help it.
In either case, ”Go Castform!”
But of Course!Thank YOU too! I’ve made the changes, and if Castform seems a little too OverPowered, do inform me so I can nerf it ASAP. I hope I don’t need to though.
Imo this mon's stats are far too minmaxed. I really don't know what even checks this thing because all of the Steels get sleep powdered and the rest die to +1 Z-Hurricane or +1 Hydro Pump. I'd nerf Special Attack and Speed by at least 40, this mon gets far too many places to revenge kill that can't be justified by a Stealth Rock weakness.Woah! You people are fast! Is reserving allowed? If so, I’ll be reserving Tropius and Masquerain.

Regarding Masquerain, I find the best solution would be to decrease its special attack by 15 and speed by 20, and those points could go into special defense. This gives it more opportunities to Quiver Dance up while not being too minMaxed.Imo this mon's stats are far too minmaxed. Well crap, I must have missed that in the hall of fame, apologies, will redo a new monWigglytuff has already won in a past slate Failure999
According to SteelixPrismGX ’s original post, Static Signal only impacts Grounded Pokemon - So Pokemon with Air Balloon, Levitate, a Flying type, or that are Baton Passed Magnet Rise/Telekinesis will be unaffected.Thank you for all the responses! I’ve seen your posts, looked over it, and I agree that I made the Pokemon far too strong. I was already uneasy of Masquerain in particular, and the nerf was perfectly understandable.
I will be implementing the changes soon, just give me a bit of time, exams don’t wait for anybody, and I have wasted more than enough time looking at this.
Edit: OM! Does Static Signal hit Flying-types too?
Edit 2: what does Static Signal even do? I’m new to this Pet Mod and I don’t want to look through more than 60 posts to find it. It wasn’t with in the last two pages.
I agree.Despite the nerfs, I still believe Masquerain is overpowered due to its dangerously high power after just one Quiver Dance. It can find very many opportunities to do this as well, due to its outspeeding everything except Deoxys-Attack, Pheromosa, and Deoxys-Speed.
+1 252 SpA Masquerain Hurricane vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Kyogre-Primal: 196-232 (57.4 - 68%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
+1 252 SpA Masquerain Hurricane vs. 252 HP / 200 SpD Groudon: 262-310 (64.8 - 76.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
+1 252 SpA Masquerain Hydro Pump vs. 252 HP / 52 SpD Ho-Oh: 262-310 (62.9 - 74.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
+1 252 SpA Masquerain Bug Buzz vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Necrozma-Dusk-Mane: 225-265 (67.1 - 79.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
+1 252 SpA Masquerain Hurricane vs. 248 HP / 0 SpD Celesteela: 147-173 (37 - 43.5%) -- 99.7% chance to 3HKO after Leftovers recovery
+1 252 SpA Masquerain Supersonic Skystrike (185 BP) vs. 248 HP / 0 SpD Celesteela: 246-291 (61.9 - 73.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
Plus, it can take a hit from common priority moves, making it more dangerous against offense:
252+ Atk Arceus Extreme Speed vs. 104 HP / 0 Def Masquerain: 201-237 (65.4 - 77.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252 Atk Life Orb Technician Marshadow Shadow Sneak vs. 104 HP / 0 Def Masquerain: 183-216 (59.6 - 70.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
4 Atk Life Orb Dark Aura Yveltal Sucker Punch vs. 104 HP / 0 Def Masquerain: 242-286 (78.8 - 93.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
Going with Chazm’s suggestions (123 SpA and 123 Speed) makes it much easier to handle.
To make Tropius more competitive I would replace Harvest with something less situational than weather, and just an all around utility.Woah! You people are fast! Is reserving allowed? If so, I’ll be reserving Tropius and Masquerain.

Stealth Rock: With a crippling 4x weakness to it, Masquerain is severely weakened with it, and nearly completely inhibits it’s viability.
Faster threats: Pokemon that are faster than it (Pheromosa) can take advantage of its low bulk and severely weaken it with their moves; even resisted ones still deal much damage, and combined with Stealth Rock, it could potentially be OHKOed.
Grass-types: Grass-types (Shaymin-Sky, Arceus-Grass, Ferrothorn, Tropius, etc.) are immune to Sleep Powder. Arceus-Grass and Ferrothorn are also rather annoying to deal with, as they have high Defensive stats (ok maybe not Arceus) and Arceus-Grass can also potentially pick up a KO if Masquerain has been chipped by Rocks.
Priority: Due to its lower physical bulk, priority moves, particularly physical ones, can generally deal quite a bit of damage.
Primal Groudon: If another of its teammates had been sent to Sleep, Groudon can be sent in, as Sun reduces the accuracy of Hurricane, forcing Masquerain to either use the weaker and resisted Bug Buzz or set up, and Groudon can later use Rock Tomb, which can be potentially fatal to Masquerain due to a 4x weakness to it and its Physical. Even if it does survive, the reduction in Speed will severely reduce its ability to attack.

Abilities: Drought, Harvest, Regenerator
Stats: 119/68/103/102/107/121 (BST 600)
New Moves: Recover, Fire Blast, Flamethrower, Fire Spin, Heat Wave, Sunny Day
Competitive (niche in Ubers): Better SubSeeder. Yeah that’s it. Not very useful huh...
SubSeed
Tropius @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Harvest
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Bold Nature
- Substitute
- Leech Seed
- Air Slash
- Heat Wave / Fire Blast
Entry Hazards: despite being given a part Grass typing, entry hazards are all bad to it. Stealth Rock and Spikes chip it, causing it to have less HP for a Substitute; Toxic Spikes Poison it and make it nearly impossible for it to serve its purpose as a SubSeeder; and Sticky Web and Static Signal reduce its Speed and increase the likelihood of opposing Pokemon going first...
Grass-types: Grass-types (Shaymin-Sky, Arceus-Grass, Ferrothorn) are immune to Leech Seed and can make use of it’s passivity to set-up.

Due to the hundreds of thousands of sets (no just kidding, it’s only a few, but half a dozen it a lot, no?) Castform can run, countering and checking them all is nearly impossible. There are only three blanket checks being Primal Groudon, Primal Kyogre and Rayquaza, but all of them are in turn countered by another set. Primal Groudon is hit Super-Effectively by QuickSand from Hail sets, Primal Kyogre is hit by Thunder from (ironically) the Rain set, and if Rayquaza gets hit by Ice Beam or Bizzard, it’s dead too. Both Primals are also checked by Air Lock sets. The best way to deal with Castform is to see what teammates it has and figure out the set accordingly to counter it.
Edit 2: how could I forget? Happy birthday OM!
Edit 3: thanks for all the support OM! Changes made!
I would make its SpD 90, and make its Attack 90, and Defense 85.Thanks for all the suggestions! However, I don’t know where I should put the extra 45 points for Masquerain. I placed it in Special Defense, but that makes it less Offensive than I wanted it to be. The original plan was to make it a glass cannon, but these new changes make it seem more tanky... should I just give it 555 BST?
Oof, fixed it.I’ll delete this post when corrected - I think you meant to tag Heavyweapons Mann instead of me for the Magcargo post!
I agree, Magcargo - if not using Drought, can benefit from Sandstream for a more Defensive set.
Simple in concept, genius in execution.
