Battle Tower Movesets

I keep getting beaten by the same pokemon around the 40 mark lol. Stupid Quick Claw Kingler with either 90% crit Crabhammer or 90% accuracy Guillotine .-.

Dark Android, that Infernape will get destroyed in the BT. I'd suggest a Focus Sash firemonkey, if you're using that set. SD, and if they didn't hit you/status you, SD again. Proceed to sweep. Honestly though, the ape can't sweep too well in the BT...it's outspeeded by too much IMO (try Focus Sash Azelf). It's still a fun poke to use in the BT; try things out for yourself. Just don't forget to use teh unbanned WOBBU!!11!

This team is doing OK so far, although I'll probably keep changing the pokemon in it.

Agiligon-Z
Ability: Download
-Agility
-Charge Beam
-Ice Beam
-Tri Attack

Specsmence
Ability: Intimidate
-Draco Meteor
-Dragon Pulse
-Flamethrower
-Hydro Pump

Heracross (lol, dunno the name for the build)
Ability: Guts (Held item is Flame Orb)
-Megahorn
-Close Combat
-Stone Edge
-Night Slash

I also switch Heracross out once in a while for Agiligross and Gallade.

......I got to 44 i think with this team- but I'm making a better one now-

Main 2 (ones I never switched)

Electabuzz(Lum Berry)
Timid
Fire Punch
Ice Punch
T-bolt
Cross Chop

still smacks stuff even with -Atk Nature

Starmie(Wise Glasses)
Calm
Surf
Psychic
T-bolt
Light Screen (am too Poor for an Ice Beam TM)

Heatran(leftovers)
Timid
Sub
Lava Plume
Fire Spin
Iron Head
...I haven't done much to him yet....

I lost to a Gilscor/Honckrow/Salamence team- as Electabuzz died to Counter, Starmie got smacked with a drill peck, and Salamence Outran it- and finished it with Dragon Pulse, then KOed Heatran with a Hydro Pump and a Dragon Pulse......

Nice work. I hope for you and the sake of this thread that you don't run into any OHKO users, which are the pokemon that beat me virtually every time if I lose in the Battle Tower/Frontier.

Ha, yeah.
Theres that Dewgong in emerald that runs Rest/SleepTalk/Sheer Cold/Horn Drill (or some other OKHO)
Pure evil.

I can't wait for the battle tower though, it looks really fun.

Well, I only got to like 23, but... omfg wtf happened :|

Jolly Mence@Life Orb
- DD
- AA
- EQ
- That critical rock move, whats-it-called.

Adamant CurseLax@Lefties
- Rest
- EQ
- Body Slam (STAB + Para is fun)
- Curse

Lax Infernape@Wise Glasses (Starter, so it's kinda balls)
- Nasty Plot
- FlameThrower
- Focus Blast (Yea, too inaccurate for my liking...)
- Substitute (That REALLY helped in the 2v2 teammate tower or whatever, but it phails now)

The Tycoon was cake - He started with Milotic, so I switched Lax in and just Cursed 5 times and swept him. Next 2 battles I did like the same thing with either that or DD Mence. The one I lost on was ridiculous. Metang Scary Faced my Mence twice before he died, then he sends out... Furret. I thought "Hey, free DD!" Well, I was wrong. With my reduced speed, he used Trick and gave me a CB. On my DD. What the hell -_-;. Switched to Lax, which had gotten Frustration to the fase for more then half. Switched back to Mence, who nearly died, but got off a CB'd EQ 4tw. I forget the last pokemon he had, but it swept my entire team. Whatever it was, it was faster then Mence and the Monkey, which both got OHKO, and Lax and his half HP died too.

Basically, I lost to a Furret. How in the hell... Trick a CB onto a DD Mence. Whee?

Yea, I suck. At least it wasn't too bad for my first run-through, right? Especially since I don't know much anyway. I think my Crobat would clean house, tbh.

107 wins and counting

Tyranitar @Choice Band
- Stone Edge
- Earthquake
- Crunch
- Pursuit

Garchomp @Focus Sash
- Earthquake
- Dragon Claw
- Swords Dance
- Substitute

Blissey @Leftovers
- Calm Mind
- Ice Beam
- Softboiled
- Thunder Wave

General strategy: Go all out with CB TTar, regardless if they start with a fighter, as i can't switch into them. If they do start Machamp i'll Earthquake and die the same turn probably, send in Garchomp and finish them off with an Earthquake of my own, and Swords Dance against the next pokemon in Sandstorm, knowing I can take a hit. It works quite well actually lol. CM blissey actually outstalls anything in sandstorm as it gets lefties recovery while the opposing pokemon eventually is whittled down by sandstorm. I've had a few close wins but nothing too drastic.

Anyhoo, I need to smash the tower more for BP for the EV train items, but so far Staraptor can usually take out 2 pokemon, and Porygon-Z usualy finishes the last one.

I have had problems with a double team Dusclops though... beat it, but what's with them like.. cheapin' out?

Furret isn't as good as, say Delcatty or some other random crap that learns assist.

I think DT+sheer cold on lapras is cheaper than that dusclops.

This thing is giving me a headache. I haven't gotten as far as half of the people in here and yet, I get unforseen and ridiculous bad luck, but not in the ways that you would think.

I decided to get Cranidos and use him for the tower because it just sounds like an awesome idea after reading this topic. I got one, bred it, EV Trained it, and went and bought Focus Sash. I still needed the TM's for him, which I needed BP for. So, I go back to the Tower where my 14-win streak is waiting. I figure "Well I can beat R3 easily and get 20 BP tonight." So, I run through, but I fall asleep while playing it in my bed. I wake up some hours later to see that the lady is asking what I want to do: Battle, Rest, or Retire. Me being in sleep-mode hits "Retire" right before fighting the Tycoon. *sigh*

So, today, I give it another shot. Twice. The first time, I get Mence and Infernape beat by a Lunatone that knows Psychic and Ice Beam. Stone Edge missed, Light Screen and SandStorm prevented Grass Knot from killing it with Ape, but at least Lax kills it Then it sent something else out and killed me, yay.

Second time, Beat the first 2 rounds, and during R3 on the 6th battle, my DS decides it's a wonderful time to freeze. Well, there goes that streak... On top of all of this, my Focus Sash magically disappeared when I wasn't paying attention. So now I need a new one of those, EQ and SE from the tower.

Right now, Crani is pretty much out of the question unless I give him Rock Slide and save up to buy a new Sash, but... This is what I am using right now:

Mence@Life Orb
Jolly, 252 Atk, 252 Spd, 6 probly HP
- AA
- EQ
- SE
- DD (yay, whole set summed up in 2-letter abbreviations!)
Curselax@Lefties
Adamant, 252 Atk, 252 SpDef, 6 HP
- Curse
- EQ
- Body Slam
- Rest
Infernape@Wise Glasses (I also have Choice Specs..)
Lax, 252 SpAtk, 252 Spd, 6 HP
- Grass Knot (Pesky Rocks, Grounds, and Waters..)
- Flamethrower
- Focus Blast
- Nasty Plot

I was going to give Infernape Focus Sash, so he could NP and sweep, but ya know... I was hoping for some tips and things to improve this team to carry me quite a ways to earn a good amount of BP. I also have access to several Pokemon (Meta, TTar, ect) in my box, but I would have to breed new ones and such, which I would rather not do right now. If you think one of them won't get me past like R5 or something, give me a good set and a new pokemon. I just need a quick fix to get me a good amount of BP if I could get some help, please.

My goal is to at least get to 100 wins like I've done in ruby, sapphire & emerald in the past. I recently made it to 49 wins using the following team:

Weavile@expert belt
Jolly, 252 Atk, 216 Speed, 40 HP
- Swords Dance
- Ice Punch
- Night Slash
- Brick Break

Electivire@life orb
Adamant, 252 Atk, 252 Speed, 6 HP
- Thunderpunch
- Earthquake
- Ice Punch
- Cross Chops

Starmie@brightpowder
Modest, 252 Sp.atk, 252 Speed, 6 HP
- Surf
- Ice Beam
- Thunderbolt
- Psychic

Note: starmie is the same I've used in ruby, sapphire & emerald, so maybe Pearl shall succeed with it as well.

Made it to 43 battles with absolutely no problems at all with;

Latios @ Life Orb - Dragon Pulse / Grass Knot / Calm Mind / Recover

Electivire @ Expert Belt - Thunderpunch / Ice Punch / Earthquake / Cross Chop

Blissey @ Leftovers - Softboiled / Counter / Seismic Toss / Ice Beam

Then I met a Fagsel that decided to dodge two Dragon Pulses, a Thunderpunch and a couple of Seismic Tosses on it's way to CH'ing / flinching and dodging it's way through my team.

Which is pretty bullshit as one Dragon Pulse would OHKO, let alone the Thunderpunch.

I just made it past battle 49 with the following:

Gyrados@Choice Band
Adamant, 255 Atk, 255 Speed, too lazy to put 6 in HP
- Waterfall
- Ice Fang
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge

Latios@Life Orb
Modest, 252 SpAtk, 252 Speed, 6 HP
- Ice Beam
- Thunderbolt
- Draco Meteor
- Psychic

Metagross@Leftovers
Adamant, can't remember, probably 252 Atk/252 Speed
- Meteor Mash
- Earthquake
- Bullet Punch
- Thunderpunch

Not very original, and maybe not entirely the best thought out team. In particular, I'm missing something to hit psychic/ghosts, preferably something faster than timid Gengar. But, so far it seems to be working well. Only a few close calls, mostly due to my own poor judgments.

Omfg, it just froze AGAIN right before they Tycoon... What in gods name is going on...

I got up there again, I saved it and had it off for about an hour. I am just about to start on the third fight again, ffs...

I made it to battle 63, which was by far the hardest round ever. Nintendo comes up with some very difficult, VERY FUCKING GAY movesets for the AI. My team is CBrhyperior/CBsalamence, Focus Sash Azelf, and Leftovers Blissey (All very standard). Here are some of the trouble some sets I ran into.

Cresselia@?? (Thank the lord it wasn't leftovers)
-Psychic
-Toxic
-Double Team
-Moonlight

Man do I wish I had a steel, this was battle 60 I think, and I still had all my pokes at fully health. Basically, I had to pp stall Cresselia out of Psychic and Toxic so Rhyperior could switch in and start launching Megahorn. This was a very annoying set indeed. Battle 63 is where I lost.

Glalie@ Leftovers
-Rest
-Sleep Talk
-Double Team
-Sheer Cold

WTF!?!?!? Same scenario as last time, this was the AI's last poke while I still had all three of mine. My Rhyperior and Azelf both get OHKO'd in a row by stupid sheer cold (I forgot to leave Focus Sash on Azelf). But no worries, Glalie only has red health left with one DT. I send out Bliss praying to god that Seismic Toss lands.....but Glalie goes first, and I get Rest-talked Sheer Colded into oblivion.

How I loathe Nintendo.

I just decided to take a few days off and train some new things. I really wanted a Gengar with Destiny Bond and probly Explosion, but I can't get that until Saturday. I do have a Togekiss still, maybe I should use that?

Got beaten by the Tower Tycoon on the 49 battle :S, it was a lame My Porygon2 was about to kill the stupid Heatran and this happens:

Heatran used Dark Pulse!
A critical hit!
Porygon2 flinched

I was like this -> Oo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyway the first battles are borin' so I will take a Rest..

It's offical...Nintendo is gay. I was expecting to learn that gay movesets piss off people and would have banned these kind of sets and moves in in-game battle tower battles.

I have fought against these both Pokemon on the same teaM:

Lapras @ Brightpowder
Horn Drill, Sheer Coold, Rest, Sleep Talk

Dewgong @ Lefties
Sheer Cold, Horn Drill, Rest, Sleep Talk

Is incredible how often they hit you with OHKO Moves :S

Holy Shit!!! on the same team!

Well we talking about OHKO moves, I rememer playing in the Multi-double battle and this Seaking totally pissed me off. It megahorn the hell out of my Torterra and then when I sent out Octillary, it went first and horn drill it. I was cursing like a sailor when that happen.

LoL, I just can't seem to get past the Tycoon on 21 again. I did it like 3 times and can't do it again. I was thinking about using Stramie with it's lovely moveset that SE hits all of his pokes. I don't really have a staple Sp. Sweeper, which is why I wanted Gengar. I got Kissy, but it doesn't have the "Normal" SpAtk moves that I need. Any Thoughts?

A future BT team for me:

Wobbuffet@lefties

Counter
Mirror Coat
Safeguard
Encore

Very simple. Encore off the bat. Kill it if they attacked, safeguard and switch if they used a status move. If they use anything that gyara can take well, switch to him and DD up. It's not banned in the BT, so why not utilize it?

Gengar@Focus Sash

Counter
Destiny Bond
WoW
filler

Survive a physical hit, and counter to kill the other dude. Dbond for the sacrifice. That right there, combined with the assumed kill from wob, should kill their team as is.

Gyarados@Wacan Berry

DD
Waterfall
Ice Fang
Stone Edge

Bulky Gyara. You know what it does. The combined with the above pokes though, this team should do imcredibly well in the BT IMO. I just need to get a counter gengar:P

I got beaten yesterday in the Battle Tower by the following Pokemon:

Tentacruel @ leftovers
~ Surf
~ Acupressure
~ Rest
~ Sleep Talk

Its first 2 Acupressures both greatly increased its evasion. Then the next greatly increased its defence, frustrating those Earthquakes of mine which did hit. Battle Tower, worst thing ever.
