2012/2013 Soccer/Football thread

lmao i love how you have sources from inside Liverpool football club

Rodgers came out and said that the club wasn't willing to overpay on certain players we targeted (which included Siggurdson's wages and dempsey's transfer fee). ironically, we overpaid on other players but that's not the point.

and no i don't think any player wants to be a liverpool player. i think specifically said that any player would rather be a liverpool player rather than a galatasaray player. STRONG READING SKILLS

all your posts scream WOMAN LOGIC AT ITS FINEST

Edit: i agree with you and lee, we're not a big club, we're a gigantic club.

oh wow did you really just pull SHUT UP YOU'RE A GIRL

i was going to argue more but yeah just.. jesus fucking christ there's so much more wrong with you than being a liverpool fan

brb all my posts are shit. all my arguments are shit. i have no idea how to reply. let me try to deflect from the real reasons that explain why I don't want to argue.

jesus fucking christ there's so much more wrong with you than being a liverpool fan

no relation between this and your claims liverpool are a small club with no money.
lmao

pls go akuchi, the average iq is already low enough in this thread.

At least Galatasaray are the biggest club in their country (or in the top 2 at least, it's either them or Fenerbahce at the moment).

Regardless of how big a club Galatasaray or Liverpool are or whether they can offer CL football,no player would in his right mind would choose to ply his trade in Turkey over England, case closed. And to summarise my thoughts on the "Are Liverpool still a Big Club?" debate, they are definitely not as good as they used to be but their illustrious history cannot be ignored altogether(they have won more PL titles than all but one of the current "Big Clubs" as well as five Champions League trophies);they are the biggest club in the league after City,Chelsea,United,Arsenal and Spurs imo. They might not be as big as those five but they are still a big club of sorts.

Also,Remy clearly doesn't follow the EPL or maybe he's just a crazy person.

I don't like Liverpool as much as the next man but they are a bigger club than Spurs lol!

As a player you probably would want to join City slightly more but Liverpool are a much bigger club still.

liverpool fans need to stop conflating 'having a history and very vocal fans and subsequently a disproportionate profile' with 'still being a top-tier club'. i didnt think it was in question that rodgers wanted dempsey (like posting they had him on their website, letting carroll go) and the owners refused to make the funds available?

you can be a 'big club' in the sense that you get a lot of media attention (as liverpool often do for various reasons) and you can be a 'big club' in the sense of a club with ambitions and a desirable place to ply your trade. i'd say spurs actually have much more of that at the moment - a bigger profile in Europe currently and recent historic higher league finishes - but of course liverpool still have some. whether their pull (financial included) is enough to entice top-tier players with any frequency i highly doubt - no, city don't have the history that liverpool do but their presence on the world stage is much, much greater at the moment; football is a money/results business after all

this was a post to try and be reasonable

This topic is new and exciting.

this was a post to try and be reasonable

and reasonable it was not. good effort though, i can see how difficult it would be for you to try to be reasonable.

Spurs better then Arsenal now

THAN

In other news, Kompany has his red card rescinded. Bad news for Liverpool because he would have missed the match at the Etihad but probably the correct decision.

yeah hbk lees point was liverpool have never won a premier league title, only the old first division

sorry to perpetuate this but i really had to help hbk it was almost painful

yup, the premier league was founded in 1992 and the only teams to have ever won it during those 21 years are Man Utd, Arsenal, Chelsea, Man City and Blackburn Rovers.

not liverpool

not even once

Was in the student bar and the Arsenal match was on but we couldn't see the TV where we were sat :( but yeah interesting tactics from Wenger tonight. He put out the kind of team that I said I would have liked to see: Cazorla on the wing and Wilshere behind the striker, with Diaby (the ball carrier) and a distributor behind him (Coquelin in this case). Wilshere scored a goal so maybe it worked! Good to see Coquelin getting a chance too, he always does a solid job when he plays and I really think he needs more gametime to make that next step to becoming a good (or great) player. Can't really speak about Swansea or anybody's performance cos I didn't actually watch the match but winning makes me happy :)

edit: Some guy tweeted that Arsenal had bid £30m for a player, then was told by Arsenal to take the tweet down. Rumour is that the player is Cavani. Now I know this most probably bullshit but then again randoms tweet bullshit all the time about transfers and don't get told to take their tweets down... Dat feeling of possibility of getting an established top player, I have not felt for years... omg... Better than sex at this moment in time...
