Gen VII: Pokémon Sun and Moon (New info Post #5834)

I keep theorizing that Popplio nose is hinting towards an elephant seal or hooded seal, I honestly prefer the elephant one since that one is badass and can open the path towards sound attacks since elephant seals are prone to roar with their inflated nose sacks.

I'm really hoping it dosent go down that path. Elephant seals could work as a normal Pokemon, but as a starter I think it would be too ugly. If they somehow made it not ugly as a final evolution, I would be kinda fine with it. I don't see how that could happen though.

It feels weird saying this but I pretty much love all the starters. These ones have grown on me and the games aren't even out. Before the trailer, I was thinking my Pokemon days were numbered. I'm going to be 26, been playing since RBY. And they sucked me right back in. I'm excited for these, much more so than I was for ORAS. Damn you Gamefreak.

TBF, I think it already is...unattractive. I know it is unusual for me to be the pessimist, but maybe an elephant seal sea lion is the best route they can go with this one.

Picture it using its nose to balance and throw it's supposed bubbles, aura spheres and focus blasts , or even unleashing hyper voices from it.

Ugly cute can work, all I see on Popplio speculation is for him to be water psychic or water ice with a big emphasis on being a clown with prankster and encore.

I prefer an elephant seal with focus on it fighting for being the beach master through sphere attacks than the second coming of Kefka psychic seal edition.

Just like litten being dark or poison, I went rock for the obsidian/brimstone coloring. Seriously no one knows of the obsidian jaguar in myths? It's badass as hell if you consider obsidian weapons from the Azteca beheaded horses along gutting their riders in one swipe or broke trough heavy armor. I prefer a rock fire feline over the ultimate fairy counter the Internet is hyping it to be.

I could see these starters going a lot of different ways, but I do think regardless of my dislike for Popplio generally they all look good. I can't wait to see how they turn out.

Also, to make you guys sad, I'm going to drop a really good pic I found of final evolution speculation, so we can all be sad knowing GameFreak and The Pokemon Company will never have the Pokemon end up as good as the speculation.

I really hope the Fire Starter ends up at least SOMEWHAT like that, as it would be really cool. And that's a way for Popplio to really look good in the end.
This guy also went with a circus theme for everyone, so I doubt it'll be what the final forms are like, but a cool idea nonetheless.

Wow, those are actually amazing concepts. I don't think I could ask for something better when I comes to popplio's final evolution. I agree that they won't/shouldn't go with a circus theme for the other two, but I don't think we'll have to worry about that. I feel like litten is getting really hyped up to be a quadruped tiger, but... I just don't see it happening as much as I would like it myself.

The idea is there with how 6th gen did Paladin/Mage/Ninja, but I just don't see that happening again and even if it does I don't see circus.
This, though, is what I really want from Popplio's final evolution. That use of the "ball" we expect from it as a part of it's design. It probably won't happen, as we see it using bubbles in the artwork, but I think having it have a ball as part of the pokemon would be great, and this is an example of a good way to pull it off.

Those are some really cool designs (I hope that Popplio looks like that), but I prefer this for Rowlet:

Hey, I'm almost 27. You're only as old as you feel. And we're not the only ones, like my sister and my girlfriend too! We play these games together!

...my girlfriend beats me.

I really like those designs, but for some reason I feel Rowlet is going to stay very round in his evolutions, for better or for worse. I hope not, but I just have this feeling.

That is exactly what I want in Poppilo. An elegant circus master, with the ball incorporated into the design in a way that works. Add some big saber tooth cat fangs to Litten's fake evo, and it's perfect. Neutral on that Rowlet one though, I kind of want something like Mothman for it.

I like the popplio one, but not the others
I don't want rowlet to be a great horned owl, and look like a special attacker, i wanted to be that unexpected physical owl

I like it. Again, I like the barn owl thing going on with rowlet thougH

Gen VI spoilers made me think I was going to quit. Between the Fairy type and the bird that looks like its wearing an ugly pair of sweat pants in its official art and an uncreative name, (Talon+Flame. Really?) I was driven into disrepair. I still couldn't resist Pokemon and now my opinions of the two things that I mentioned are Whatever and I <3 Bird Spam.

What I'm saying is that you're here forever. It's like a horror movie with a mind controlling hive mind monster except everyone's happy! (Except the Genwunners, but who cares about them.)

I had a scary thought: what if they gave Rowlet the HA Soundproof (they do fly silently*)?

*Yes, I know that real owls fly silently and yes, I know we shouldn't make assumptions based on Pokédex-like descriptions of Pokémon, but still.

We are the fandom. Resistance is futile. We will add your biological and Pokémon differences to our own. You will be assimilated.

If that was Popplio's final evo I'd die happy.

Did anybody notice the Japanese trailer straight-up takes place in Hawaii? Unfortunately Imgur isn't cooperating and I can't link a direct screenshot, but just the first few seconds should show you what I'm talking about.

I don't think we need any more proof we're going to Hawaii, but this is more or less official confirmation.

Meanwhile, i'm just hoping that Rowlet's final evolution looks more like:
latest

Although a Pinapple Owl would be amusing too.

That's actually the first owl I thought of after seeing Rowlet!

Yeah, we know for sure it's Hawaii.

Hive mine, one of us!

I do wonder if there will be a 600 BST cute mystical Pokemon this gen and a trio...

I am pretty sure the general age of the OI users is probably a bit older than other places on the site... It's a place for retirement and relaxing haha. I'm 26 and I know a few of the other guys are into their 20's and we've all been playing from Launch. There were a few years in the middle where I wouldn't admit that I played it, but now its pretty much part of me so...

I think it's one of the few games that passes through the ages. Although I tend to disagree with the marketing that Nintendo does and how they are "dumbing down the game" to appeal to the mobile market. I actually think there are potentially more older players who would invest in a postgame than younger players who want to just "complete" the game. It's an interesting conundrum they have found themselves in.

24 here; I got Red version on my 6th birthday, and have been playing ever since (although I dropped off the radar during the GBA era because I had to choose between spending pocket money on a console that I'd only use for one game series or purchasing several Xbox games for the same price). As much as it has, at a few points over the last few years, made me feel very old to realise that there are people who are now legally adults who haven't been alive as long as I've been playing Pokemon, it's still something I can't see myself ever giving up; even though it's a fundamentally similar experience every few years, it's the Pokemon experience, and there is something inherently fun about it. I usually don't play much of the post-game (if I want to play with competitively raised Pokemon, that's what Showdown is for; I do play any elements of the post-game that are either continuations of the story or that rely on some other mechanic [I got a few hours of entertainment out of PokeStar studios]).

At this point, Pokemon is basically part of me as well; some of my oldest memories include watching my cousin play Pokemon before I had it (thus creating the desire to acquire it), and my younger brother constantly restarting my game and overwriting my save so that he could play with Charmander (my parents bought me Blue version as well thinking it was a different game; I promptly gave it to my brother so that he could play it and let me finally finish my Blastoise game). My life has Pokemon memories scattered all the way through it; at times it's been a bonding experience as friends, at times it's been a guilty pleasure that I wouldn't have dared tell anyone about, and most recently it's become just another one of my various eccentricities. Pokemon has been with me almost as long as anything else, and that gives it an enduring quality that is almost without peer for me.
