You would never run 252 attack EVs on camerupt. There are pros and cons to both moves.
Rock slide has more PP, but is weaker than ancient power without investment
Ancient power doesn't have a lot of PP, but is sheer force boosted, and with investment in s. attack, isn't too weak.
Rock Slide is also affected by Sheer Force.
That said, yeah, Ancient Power is generally always your best bet as it means you can invest in bulk rather than Attack.

I run 252+ atk in my calculation to show how ancient power is better than rock slide imo

Yawn is my favorite for the final slot. Outside of Poison Heal pokemon, it is almost always safe on the switch to use, and gives you some damn good set up opportunities. Stealth Rock isn't bad either though since it can free up a move slot on something else.

Ancient Power is fine. When it comes to a stall wars against something like Mew, it's nice to be able to spam Ancient Power to potentially get the stat boosts everywhere at least.
EDIT: Good catch Salamence

...Doesn't the stat boosts get negated with Sheer Force though? (could be wrong, haven't been able to play with my Camerupt team in over a week due to Real life crap).

Yes it should negate the secondary effect.

Knew I wasnt going senile.

Jaroda Its fine. I've enjoyed using Yawn too, as it is actually pretty comical how well its worked for me so far. How often has it been you yawn and they switch for you to hit something else instead of take the sleep? Often i just end up enjoying the threat of status better than permanent one of Wisp but idk, he's been a fun fella for me,

Also 1100th post. Wasnt forgetting it this time (after realizing 20 after my thousandth..)

I started using mega camerupt on a balance team a few days ago and while it impressed me with its power I really thought it was super underwhelming especially against offence (and balance). To amend this I decided to try out this set:

Camerupt @ Cameruptite
Ability: Solid Rock
EVs: 160 HP / 252 SpA / 96 Spe
Modest Nature
- Fire Blast
- Earth Power
- Ancient Power/Yawn/Hidden Power ice/grass
- Substitute

With Sub Camerupt can come in on a large list of pokemon including Scizor, Clefable, Manetric, Jirachi, Ferrothorn, Gothitelle, Magnezone, Mandibuzz, Skarmory, Sylveon, Venusaur, Zapdos, Klefki, Victini, Volcarona, Sableye and Beedrill and set up a sub on it before nuking the switchin with one of his moves. This set makes the Camel on fire much more useful against offence and in general. Include this in the OP if you want Albacore.

EDIT:Thank you Jaroda for the Yawn suggestion. It has been added.

That's not a bad idea. I'd recommend considering Yawn over Ancient Power though, as it means even tough special walls like Chansey don't get free turns. The risk being whittled down while asleep, or allowing a set up sweeper of yours to come in.

Personally I think a set of Fire Blast, Earth Power, Ancient Power, and Yawn is the best (HP Grass over Yawn for Trick Room though). Camperupt doesnt get too many free turns to fire off nukes and I generally find that my opponent usually has one thing that can come in once or twice and threaten Camuruot out, usually Rotom-Wash, Latios, or Latias. I think that the ability to hit them with a Yawn on the switch and either put my opponents best Camerupt check to sleep or force them to switch out to something else and nil the switch in is better than any other move Camperupt could run in its final slot. Hidden Power Grass would be nice for Trick Room to ensure that Rotom-W can't switch in at all but since it outspeeds camerupt outside of trick room i dont think it would be worth it. The next best option imo is substitute because when something as slow as camerupt wants to come in and fire nukes predicting wrong can often make it dead weight, especially when water types and ground immune pokemon are so common. Substitute greatly eases this prediction

Yeah, coming in on something you threaten, and then setting up a substitute, or throwing out a yawn can really miss with your opponent's strategy. When you have a camerupt behind a sub, dropping nukes here and there, it's not very pretty.
That's part of the reason why celebi and camerupt are good partners, because when celebi baton passes +2 special attack, and a sub to camerupt, you might as well forfeit lol.

Yawn is not a bad idea but im more of a fan of Will-o-wisp tbh. Getting residual damage on its counters and potentially burning stuff like AV azu is great as well. You could potentially run both since Camerupt only needs Fire Blast + Earth Power, I personally run Stealth rocks on him since my team in particular lacks any other rocks setter.
