Team at a glance for you speed browsers:
My basic idea for this team was a team build around some of my favorite pokemon, that still could do well in a competative setting. I like keeping my opponent shuffling so I tried to incorporate that as much as possible with 3 pokemon with u-turn. I also tried to account for weaknesses and resistances to balance my team as much as possible. I ended up with 3 fire weaknesses, but I added rain dance to null some of the dmg and 2 strong fire killers. Ice is another problem but I have 2 electric attacks and 2 fighting moves (1 STAB).
My top 15 pokemon include:
Gliscor, Alakazam, Houndoom, Skarmory, Scizor, Nidoking, Gengar, Forretress, Umbreon, Gengar, Aerodactyl Heracross, Kingdra, Breloom and Kangaskhan
I chose the pokemon below for synergy. The idea of it is if I get confronted with a counter I u-turn to another counter. I have 3 pokemon weak to fire, but 2 extremely resistant counter parts. I use rain danc eto weak fire/boost thunder and water dmg since I have no fire pokemon this works quite well. in addition, using rain dance locks out other weather changers unless they want to take the time to switch out and take some stealth rock dmg.
Here is my team as it stands AFTER FINAL EDITS:
Gliscor @ Leftovers
Ability: Sand Veil
EVs: 216 speed/252 HP/40 def
Nature: Jolly
- Earthquake
- U-Turn
- Stealth Rock
- Taunt <-----------------EDIT I changed from roost to taunt and lock down stalling
My lead. Open with stealth rock then either stay out and EQ soemthing weak to it, or u-turn to a counter. Jolly nature for speed, and taunt to lock out stallers. A very strong lead that drops one of my hazards while preventing my opponents.
***NEW***
Jirachi @ Leftovers
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs:252 Spe/252 HP/8 SpA
Nature: Timid
- Wish
- Iron head
- Thunder
- U-Turn
A great wish supporter. I have wish to provide an easily u-turned heal for most of my pokemon that cannot heal themselves. Thunder+Iron Head+Serene Grace = HUGE chance of paralysis and flinching and nice dmg to water/flying pokemon. Good type coverage only being weak to fire and ground which a good deal of my pokemon are resistant to.
***NEW***
Tyranitar @ Expert Belt
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 152 SpA/208 speed/100 Atk
Nature: Naive/Jolly/Quiet
- Stone Edge
- Earthquake
- Crunch
- Flamethrower
I expect my opponent to "Oh snap another scarf-tar. Let me get my scizor". BLAMO flamethrowered. I am now free to sweep your team with stone edge/EQ/crunch. I came up with this when I noticed my team had no way to super effectively hit grass or bug, and I didn't havea counter for pesky Scizors. So why not counter a counter? 4 of my pokemon resist sandstorm (2 benefit from it).
***NEW***
Gengar @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SPA/252speed/8 HP
Nature: Timid/Modest
- Shadow Ball
- Focus Blast
- Thunderbolt/Substitute
- Explosion/Pain Split
My spin blocker, and special sweeper extraordinaire! I plan to u-turn or hard switch to him when a pokemon comes out to rapid spin my stealth rock/spikes and either sweep them with shadow ball (super effective on starmie), or focus blast (super effective on normals). If he gets low I won't even try to keep him around, and explode for an easy kill. I'm torn between the sub/split set for wall breaking or all out offense.
Scizor @ Choice Band
Ability: Technician
EVs: 252 attack/8 speed/248 HP (EDIT:tnx Alan)
Nature: Adamant
- U-Turn
- Bullet Punch
- Pursuit
- Superpower
I have and always will have a special place in my heart for this bug. He has 10 stinkin resistances, has a great move pool, cool abilities, and fearsome sweeping ability. In addition, he has awesome scouting ability through u-turn. I basically bullet punch (90 power with STAB, and technician) when needed for some awesome first turn dmg. I use pursuit on running psychic/ghost pokemon and STAB u-turn any fire pokemon to a counter like Gliscor or Kingdra. Superpower is there to explode normal pokemon walls, dragon dancers, and ice pokemon.
***NEW***
Kingdra @ Life Orb
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 252 Atk/240 SpA/16 Spe
Nature: Naughty
- Ice Beam
- Rain Dance
- Waterfall
- Draco Meteor
I added this guy to cover my weakness to fire, and dragon sweepers. He is only weak to dragon type, and has a great deal of resistances. I use rain dance to increase his speed, increases water dmg and lowers fire type effectiveness. It also has good synergy with Jirachi to increase his Waterfall dmg or for a swap to him when a dragon comes out to try and beat Kingdra. I have the ability to mix sweep depending on my opponent. I can't decide on a final move set though, and I'm not sure whether to use a damp rock or life orb. I have ice beam for dragons/fliers/grass.
------------------------------------------------
A Typical Battle would go like such:
-open with Gliscor and either taunt another set up, or stealth rock. If the opponent is weak to earthquake I stay and attack, if not u-turn to another pokemon....
if they arn't fire/ground u-turn to Jirachi
if they are ice/water u-turn first to gengar.
-Jirachi then Rain Dance's and if there is time wishes then u-turns to a sweeper of the appropriate type (usually Kingdra).
-alternating u-turns/forced switches on stealth rock/sweeper dmg I attempt to wear down my opponent then sweep with either a special attack aimed at special defense (Gengar), physical attack aimed at physical defense (Breloom), or a Physical/Special attack (Kingdra). Gliscor/Jirachi are for clean up/support. Scizor is my revenge killer.

REPLACED TEAM MEMBERS:
Togekiss @ Leftovers
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 HP/100 special defense/158 special attack
Nature: Calm
- Air Slash
- Aura Sphere
- Thunder Wave
- Roost
Houndoom @ Life Orb
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 Special attack/252 speed/4 HP
Nature: Timid
- Nasty Plot
- Flamethrower
- Dark Pulse
- Will-o-wisp
Breloom @ Toxic Orb
Ability: Posion Heal
EVs: 252 attack/208 speed/48 HP
Nature: Adamant
- Spore
- Focus Punch
- Stone Edge
- Seed Bomb
Empoleon @ Leftovers/Life Orb
Ability: Torrent
EVs:252 SpA/152 Def/100 Spe
Nature: Modest
- Ice Beam
- Grass Knot
- Surf
- Roar/Toxic
I would greatly appreciate any advice yo guys might have. This is my first post on this site, and I have been playing pokemon since I was about 11 haha. I really would like to include spikes somehow. Also, I really really like the idea of using pokemon I like in addition to having pokemon that are good. So if a pokemon would really compliment my team, but I don't like it I might still be willing to use it.
cheers and thanks for your advice in advance.
