Welcome to the second ZeroUsed Circuit playoffs of Generation 9! Players battled throughout numerous official tournaments and the top 16 qualifiers will compete to be the ZU Circuit Champion. All rounds will be hosted in this thread. The winner will receive a banner as a prize. In addition, the following Pokemon Showdown prizes are being offered, courtesy of PS! Staff:
  • A custom avatar.
  • The ability to recolor your PS username.
  • The ability to claim an unused PS username.

Credits for the trainercards go to skrimps, Tuthur and this website.

Tournament Rules:

  • General tournament rules and regulations can be found here.
  • The banlist for this tournament is the same as the current ZeroUsed ladder of the Smogon University server of Pokemon Showdown, and can be found here.
  • Best of three, single elimination.
  • If metagame changes occur during the middle of Round 1, they will take effect in Round 2. During Round 2, DLC will release and the tier for this tournament will be locked.
  • Battles must take place on Pokemon Showdown! or smogtours.
  • SV cartridge win conditions are in place; there are no ties.
  • Replays are required. Failure to post will result in a coin flip.

Toto vs THE_CHUNGLER - my r1 highlight ngl, i think chungler is definitely good but toto always seems to do well in individuals so i'll go with him here
Tuthur vs Portobello - portobello only got points in the first tour of the year which is a while ago now, and i think tuthur will do well this tournament
Scarf Kricketune vs estra - close match imo, i'm pretty high on SK so i'm confident in him here but a estra win wouldn't be surprising at all
OranBerryBlissey10 vs TBasedGod - would love to be wrong here but obb is the better player
fish anemometer vs Medeia - i don't think medeia is particularly motivated for this and fish is hard to bold against
diegoyuhhi vs LustfulLice - diego does well in individuals but i'll never be able to bold him anywhere just because of his team tour records
TomatoZause vs Drud - one of the manectrics is dying...
BloodAce vs big tony 2014 - i think this is close but i think bloodace is more in touch with the meta and slightly better pilot
 
Toto vs THE_CHUNGLER - Tough call. THE_CHUNGLER in the right circumstances could win it all but I think Toto's overall ability slightly eeks out the set for him. 55|45
Tuthur vs Portobello - I don't care how fraudulent Tuthur has been as of late, Tuthur is not only better but more knowledgable at this tier. Especially when you factor in Portobello only having points in open. Wouldn't be too surprised to see an upset though. 65|35
Scarf Kricketune vs estra - With all due respect to SK, I'm not too convinced on his ability to play at the highest level just yet. I'm not hugely convinced on Estra either, but I reckon his dedication will pay off at least for this round. 40|60
OranBerryBlissey10 vs TBasedGod - Would love to root for a Brit here but OBB is the better player. 65|35
fish anemometer vs Medeia - Seconding what Drud has said here. Medeia doesn't seem motivated enough to win and Fish has the ability to reach the finals at least. 65|35
diegoyuhhi vs LustfulLice - This game is probably the most interesting mu here. I rate Diego a lot higher than what other people do I feel, and Diego in the right moments can pull off a strong individuals result. LustfulLice on paper is better but I reckon Diego eeks out a result. Very much a tossup here. 51|49
TomatoZause vs Drud - Skibidi Rizzler grindset reveals his gyatt to the huzz and ts leaves bro straight jorkin it.. and by it.. haha.. lets just say.. his elimination. 40|60
BloodAce vs big tony 2014 - Big Tony has unfortunately made a habit of coming up short, and I think his curse will continue here. BloodAce is a more capable builder and that will see him through this round. 55|45
 
Toto vs THE_CHUNGLER - Toto is bad but lucky so he’ll probably win, but it can easily be pretty close and I could easily see first seed curse kicking in early. 55/45
Tuthur vs Portobello - yo idk the last time I’ve seen this guy around I’ll be honest. 70/30
Scarf Kricketune vs estra - giving estra the edge because he’s been more active as of recent and tends to have higher ceilings. 40/60
OranBerryBlissey10 vs TBasedGod - obb is the better player here. 65/35
fish anemometer vs Medeia - probably more of a semifinals quality match if both players put in full effort, but I think fish cares more. 60/40
diegoyuhhi vs LustfulLice - could be a pretty close mu, but I think lice has higher peaks. 40/60
TomatoZause vs Drud - manectric on manectric violence r1 is sad to see, drud’s typically the better player by far though sadly for zause. 30/70
BloodAce vs big tony 2014 - genuine toss up, probably comes down to how much they care about prep and learning new meta since the skill levels are pretty close as well. 50/50
 
Toto vs THE_CHUNGLER - Toto is the better player, despite the fact he constantly jokes about not playing SV ZU this guy is definitely in the lab and will show up well prepared for whatever Chung brings. Not that Chung is a bad player or builder, but the gap in both adds up to a lopsided win for Toto. Toto should be the favorite to win it all.
Tuthur vs Portobello - It pains me to bold Tuthur, it really does, but Porto has been non-existent from the tier since the beginning of the year as far as I know and Tuthur is a sweaty tryhard. Also voted dnb on Mowtom so he is for sure loading it every game this set to "prove a point".
Scarf Kricketune vs estra - Honestly, I'd rate SK higher as a player, though I doubt they've played much ZU recently. I'm leaning estra because of the fact they've played a lot more recently, but SK could lean on their PU skills and build solid enough teams to outclick.
OranBerryBlissey10 vs TBasedGod - I want Tim to win because of the Gloom stocks, I really do, but OBB is just better. Maybe the most lopsided set here, which is saying something because I like Tim lowkey.
fish anemometer vs Medeia - Could be a cool matchup but Medeia admitted to not playing the tier and I doubt they care much here, whereas fish is going to sweat this and is the better player when motivated surely. Neither Hattrem nor Typhlosion rose so expect to see that.
diegoyuhhi vs LustfulLice - I do think diego is good at mons, but not much better than Lice to be fair. I could see this going either way, but diego did well in ZU Swiss and loaded some nicely thought out teams so I'll favor them.
TomatoZause vs Drud - Drud is the better builder and player, and I don't know where zause is mentally as far as playing mons goes. I think zause could maybe load some cool stuff but he doesn't outclick Drud here using stuff like Palossand Snorlax fat.
BloodAce vs big tony 2014 - Big big tony fan personally, but I don't think they're going to have the peaks they did in UMPL when they got that win vs obb as the sub. I like BloodAce as a builder and player slightly more, though big tony could do some funny stuff with Dipplin fat teams maybe.
 
Toto - doesn't matter who is better, my man gonna click the x if needed and win
Tuthur - imo better equipped with zu knowledge and experience
TBasedGod - close one but I am betting on them bringing an obnoxious somewhat oddball def core that cteams
Zause - Another close one imo, both drud and zause are great but my man shall use the power of fury for reasons that shall not be stated

Nah it's ok, I messed up (and haven't touched ZU in forever) so go ahead and take the win
There's also no way we'd be able to schedule during the work week since I'm 7 hours behind and busy til 7pm
