Your favourite anime of 2007?

So, what are y'alls favourite anime of 2007? A huge amount of quality works have been created and we in America have also recieved a huge amount of quality, so, make a post about what your favourite animes were and say why.
My top 5 of this year:
Code Geass- though it is not out in america, Code Geass is probably my favourite anime of all time. I like to think of it like this, Death Note meets Gundam. The results are spectacular, and Lelouch is more than a believeable character. It also adds freshness to mecha in general, cuz we have the anti-hero genius instead of either gallant knight or retarded little kid.
Gurren Lagann- Another mecha series? This is quite a show though, so all fans of anime should watch it. It's kinda like what happens if the people who make gundam all start smoking crack; you get insanity. This series is made by Gainax, who also did FLCL, which should explain parts of why it is so insane. But, it's hilarious and epic on an impossible scale, and so provides a great deal of crazy fun.
Death Note-2 anti-heros in the same list? Well, Light Yagami is my idol, and an anti-hero is what i am. Anyways everybody should know about death note so I'm not going to elaborate here. Just know that the only reason Code Geass and Death Note work is because of the anti-hero. The entire plot focuses on the anti-hero, and that person is the sole reason as to why the anime is good. All other characters are superflous.
Le Chevalier d'Eon- What is a genre without historical epics? The reason this story is so entertaining is because you can connect real events to what happenes in the anime, and thus it adds a whole new level of fun to it. It also has excellent swordfights and a fairly engrossing plot, though it's the relation to history that drives this series forward.
The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya- I honsetly don't see why this series was so hyped (Though i did not see why Rhyperior was so hyped either). Nonetheless, i feel obligated to include this sort of Moe haremfest because if i don't, i will be stoned to death by Haruhi pillows and action figures.

I really enjoy Death Note, but I don't have a lot of anime/manga experience outside of what I see on the funimation channel and adult swim. OP, your post was a bit hard to decipher, but this is still an ok thread I guess.
 
i dont watch much anime but i enjoyed deathnote and i kinda enjoyed the melancholy of haruhi suzumiya (man, watching the episodes "swap places" was annoying.
 
watched and enjoyed death note, later episodes were somewhat boring and had me caring less though.
 
Reading Death Note is probably better than watching IMO. Both are great, though.

Anyway, I really liked watching the first few Hellsing, though the story line doesn't look like it's going anywhere so far. A Vampire with a silver revolver is awesome. I'd be more into Naruto and Bleach if it wasn't so fanboy/girled over...yick.

Edit: I forgot Fooly Cooly. That's only six episodes long, but it's very...powerful. And watching a robot play guitar is cool.

Edit2: A good number of these probably aren't 2007, but they're the best I've seen in the year 2007, hehe.
 
Death Note. So good I will definitely buy the season set once Viz releases it (2 years later? ;_;)

The only other shows I watched that were released in 2007 were Code Geass and Haruhi if it was 2007. Thought it was 2006? I'm starting Higurashi Season 2 now.

Code Geass was good but I hated the last episode. Other than Death Note I watched all of this in one go.

Ongoing anime-wise, One Piece was fucking amazing.

Oh and because the internets won't shut up, I think I'll start Gurren Lagann some day. But that's after I finish Higurashi, catch up on One Piece, catch up on Naruto, catch up on House MD, and maybe watch The Office (US version).

Code Geass was alright but I wish Lelouch's power had been utilized more effectively as a plot element. The mecha aspect felt unnecessary and the scenes at school were mostly fluff. Also PIZZA HUT. Gurren Lagann was fairly fun from the bit I watched but it's also massively over hyped.
 
Oh man the Pizza Hut product placement in Geass was hilarious XD Probably wasn't good for the mood as it was a pretty serious show, but oh my god.

Higurashi no Naku Koro ni deserves a mention too. Lucky Star is the shit too :). Personally I'd rank my top 5 into:

~ The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya - come on, who doesn't love aliens, time travelers, and espers?

~ Lucky Star - Which side of the chocolate cornet do you eat? the fat side or the small side?

~ Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni - Ah, random arc's of people killing each other (2006)

~ Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni Kai - Yep more killing...

~ Elfen Lied - Who doesn't love naked psychic girls killing people??? (2004)
 
Death Note
Yugioh A Shadow Game (no, not gay yugioh that revolves around a card game. This is actually based off the manga, and never aired in america because it was considered too graphic for american youth. Characters are commonly killed, tortured, and kidnapped. There are 27 episodes, 23 are subbed on youtube right now by a group of fansubbers that actually know Japanese)

I also watch Bleach occasionally
 
I must agree with Death Note which is quite a bit better than most other things. Reading it is much more enjoyable though. Watched Bleach as well, at least the soul society arc was good anyway.
 
Ok, FMA definitely wasn't 2007. I started than when I was in grade 10.
Then waited 2 years for the movie >=(
 
HEROIC AGE! I cannot believe I forgot to mention this series. Any of you who like big battle animes should watch this (more space/war oriented than really strictly mech). I do not want to spoil anything, but the ending is holy shit amazing.

Fullmetal Alchemist is not 2007, nor is Elfenlied, nor is Haruhi.

MUST SEE: Code Geass*, Death Note, Gurren-Lagann, Sayanora Zetusbou Sensei

Sayanora Zetusbou Sensei: One of the better animes this(last?) year. Interesting concept, original jokes and beautiful animation. The soundtrack was very good as well.

Gurren Lagann: I stumbled onto this one late at night and was pleasantly surprised. Even though the plot (which I usually find more important than anything else) was absolute crap, the animation was so out-there, the music so well-fitting, and the overall presentation so good that I actually found myself not caring. A theatric performance through and through. Definitely one of the better animes this year.

Lucky Star: This one was hit and miss. I liked most of the episodes, but some I could have done without.

Code Geass:What can I say? I really enjoyed this one. Great animation, great music, good character development and an intriguing plot (minus the "Mao" episodes) oddly reminiscent of Death Note. One of THE best animes this year.

Claymore: It was good, just not great. The animation and action were good, the music played it's role, the character development was simple but good. Nothing in this anime impressed me, but it was by no means a bad show. Off-topic, it really annoyed me how they diverged from the manga at the end.

Seirei No Moribito: Same impression as Claymore, but better animation.

Le Chevalier d'Eon: This one bored me to tears, which rarely happens for me. I couldn't bring myself to watch it after the first 5 episodes. Even though every episode added to the plot, it all felt like filler. I would like to be proven wrong on this one.

Darker Than Black: I didn't like this one. To be honest, this show was on par with Claymore, but after watching Full Metal and Eureka Seven, I've come to expect better from BONES than this. Beautiful animation, jazzy tunes, and political commentary are all sullied by a weak plot which fails to fully explain the nature and significance of the "Contractors", who so are integral to the plot. Good, could have been much better.

MONSTER: This show had very a thrilling and deep plot. Did I mention good? Problem is, there was nothing but plot. I feel compelled to talk about this one because I doubt most people had the patience to slog through all 70 episodes. Again, the plot and character development were great, but caused MONSTER to read like a book, instead of flowing through and engaging you like anime should. Perfunctory animation and music, and NO ACTION only further underscore the myopic nature of this otherwise compelling anime. Good, but not great as in not worth watching all 70 episodes.

Death Note: What impressed me about this show was the way it held me captive. Even though things kind of petered out during the Yotsuba arc and thereafter, at the very beginning, it was magic. The animation was appropriate, and the music fit the various scenes very well. The plot was fantastic. One of the better animes.

Bleach & Naruto: Standard fare, nothing to see here.

Wonderful Anime That You Should Definitely See But Have Nothing to Do With 2007

Full Metal Alchemist**, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya*, Neon Genesis Evagelion*, Eureka Seven, Welcome to the NHK!, Fooly Cooly, and Ghost In The Shell
 
I didn't particularly like the ending in Death Note, so it lost points there and Claymore was overall disappointing. I think the manga is actually better than the anime without even reading it. If the producers hadn't rushed the anime so much, it would have been better.

Great anime I watched IN 2007:
-.hack//sign - tied with Serial Experiments Lain as my favourite anime of all time;

-Azumanga Daioh - Started watching in 2006, but then stopped and finnished in 2007;

-Basilisk: The Kouga Ninja Scrolls - I simply loved everything in this anime and how you could identify yourself with some characters and even feel pity for them. Unlike many anime with action, there is no hero and no magical, weakly explained ways, to win a battle, unlike Claymore and Fate/Stay Night;

-Ergo Proxy - Psychological anime set in a completely distopian world. Some episodes were random and comical, others were very deep. Like .hack//sign the beggining is really slow, and remains that way until the final episodes, which wowed me;

-Rozen Maiden/Rozen Maiden Traumend (second season of Rozen Maiden) - Some people think this is like Fate/Stay Night because here dolls have these contractors and they have to kill eachother for their Rosa Mystica in order to meet Father, their creator. However, it's much more than that, as it deeply exploits the dolls emotions. I still have to watch the two last episodes of Traumend, but I'm very impressed with this anime.

-Chrno Crusade - Started watching in 2004, but had to stop. I finally finished this year, thankfully. For those who don't know this anime is about a demon hunter, Rosette, a demon who lost his horns, Chrno and an apostle, Azmaria, all in search of Rosettes brother who was kidnapped by Aion. Meanwhile they have to disassemble a deamon organization founded by Aion himself. Simplistic? Yes, but the final episodes are very touching and psychological
 
FullMetal Alchemist - Awesome concept,AMAZING ANIMATION,touching storyingine and an ending so sad I cried MUST WATCH. If you insult FullMetal Alchemist I will personally come to your house and stab you in the heart :)
 
I watched FMA on Animax in india(come to think of it I also play Pokemon in Inda D:) anyway it started in 2007 so yeah. It rocked so hard. and I read the manga on www.onemanga.com. Both ARE AWESOME. But I don't know how Conquerer of Shamballa is,they haven't shown the movie in India yet even though it is 2008 :(
