Welcome to the eighth edition of the World Cup of 1v1. This year, ten teams are battling it out to see who can claim to be the 1v1 World Champions.

Rules
General Rules:
- General tournament rules and regulations can be found here.
- If metagame changes occur during the middle of a round, they will take effect in the subsequent round.
- Battles must take place on either Smogtours or Pokemon Showdown!
- Replays are required. Any win post without replays will not be counted

Substitutions:
- If you are unable to schedule with your opponent, please let your managers know ASAP so they can communicate that to us or the other team's managers for a potential substitute.
- When making a substitution, please the host team, the managers of the opposing team, and all of the players affected by the substitute to ensure that everyone is made aware.
- Keep in mind once a player is subbed out, they cannot be subbed back into the same round, but can be put back onto the roster for next round.
- Substitutions will not be allowed in tiebreak series unless both teams agree (or TDs enforce double sub). We will be reluctant to give activity wins to those who are clearly fishing for them.

Sportsmanship:
- Note the sportsmanship infraction may be used liberally this 1v1 WC, and any unsportsmanlike conduct on the forums, in the tours games, or 1v1 discord will be grounds for an infraction.

SV 1v1 Bo7: eblurb vs lost heros CAN A MAN EVER ASK FOR MORE THAN THIS MATCHUP IN BO7. Despite wanting to bold lost heros with all my heart I simply can't go against emil after he 4-0d his pool. cool mu tho

SV 1v1 Bo7: delemon vs RADU - both are supa fire - this could look strange considering delemon went 1-3 in their pool and radu went 4-0 alongside a 6-1 UMPL but the crown of SEU did get a little bitty lucky in some of his series that could’ve led to a decider and playoffs prep is a whole diff beast than reusing and click bettah. I guess if there’s just one thing you shouldn’t count out it’s delemon’s ability to find their groove back in playoffs to me.
SV 1v1: bea vs Akeras - damn akeras went 2-0! Uh but against two names I have never seen before. Calling that a 2-0 is like when you play 1-1 of super Mario bros and you jump on those two goombas walking at you early on. (This is not to shade players from those regions and I hope you guys come back for next year or future tours/team tours cos you guys brought the qualifying race close!) His umpl has, simply, not been that pretty either. Beas understanding of SV is pretty deceptive considering how little she shows up in team tours - however you can only describe it as decent at worst based on her consistent positive performances. She should have this.
SV 1v1: Indi01 vs gorilaa - This is kinda fire and closer than it looks. Indi I only really noticed for his mono steel steven stone cosplay in UMPL that 3-0d someone LOL and that got my attention but additionally got a cool 4-0 in his pool and it’s a pretty good pool at that relative to the other ones. Gorilaa I always imagined is someone that can beat anyone but also lose to anyone too, like in general someone that’s hard to count out and always goes to 5 games. His pool was fine but I think he needed to really clutch it out vs me to bold him - getting two 3-0s and not getting a click right to get reversed seems a little anti clutch factor, but I still think he’s a strong player.
SV 1v1: fake tom numbers vs Bomb21XD - The resident undraftable (I tried to get him in my teams twice and got vetoed twice saygg2me) showed a good pool and a nice year of SV with Ladder finals vs Bomb21XD… who looks to be covering for the unexpected crashout of lemonstre1 and lolebruh giving SEU a juggling of slots that fans of the region should hope to succeed. If Tom isn’t able to lose to Azumarill or no dark move Hydreigon or whatever you should be fine!
SS 1v1: zo vs Lialiabeast - zo has been on the upswing this year with a solid SS showing in PL and their pool they should’ve been 3-1, defeated by Rei’s crit (backed by their solid and reliable 44% to dodge an OHKO EVs, of course). Admittedly Lialiabeast looks like the future Classic winner! I just don’t see that and a WCOP win in the cards, given that they randomly slot swapped to SS covering a lackluster BW.
SM 1v1: Jamez vs Close - Both had a pretty good pool, but I just think it’s hard to count out Close. This year to me Jamez seems to always fluctuate between somewhat washed and quite good but if there’s a series that could go to game 5 it’s this one.
ORAS 1v1: Mubs vs SEROO - HIGHLIGHT MATCH!!!! U have to bold the person who brings croagunk and had the harder pool as a whole. Mubs if I had one thing to say leave ur mega lopunny and audinos at home for this one.
BW 1v1: AlyssaVGC vs Corckscrew - Alyssa had a really good run in a strong pool and seems to be someone driven by her momentum in a tier, meaning that she should have this one - but idk I trust radus building over most peoples in BW. If Alyssa can keep it up she’s got this, but this could be an upset given RADU’s approach to the tier as a whole.

Super happy we made playoffs, let’s go West!

SV 1v1 Bo7: delemon vs RADU cant completely count delemon out in a matchup but the momentum is way more in radu's favor after pools and while rematches aren't necessarily the exact same as before delemon just hasn't had as good team tour results for me to unshakingly bold them like most would.
SV 1v1: bea vs Akeras bea's a player i just think is solid overall and somehow she wasn't playing pools? (superteam ass privilege) she's been doing good in umpl lately whereas akeras has left me more to be desired.
SV 1v1: Indi01 vs gorilaa if indi01 has no fans i am dead.
SV 1v1: fake tom numbers vs Bomb21XD if fake tom numbers has no haters i am dead.
SS 1v1: zo vs Lialiabeast mainly just doing this to mess with zo but lialiabeast is just sneaky in classic finals? on top of playing the tier decently in pl with seu having support that should be promising if shit doesn't hit the heatrans fan.
SM 1v1: Jamez vs Close hate to bold against a thwack that isnt mishlef but close just gives me more confidence.

SV 1v1 Bo7(55-45): delemon vs RADU - i can only assume radus building will get exposed by the soon to be goat, but i think radu can outmaneuver in game if theres a way he will find it, if this doesnt go to seven im sadface
SV 1v1(70-30): bea vs Akeras - bea is sv magician while akeras keeps loading patchy 3s with full A ranks i think this will be a feast
SV 1v1(60-40): Indi01 vs gorilaa - i dont rate indi highly but the rust from gorila did blitz through in a game or two in pools, so its hard to back them up vs a fairly consistent winner
SV 1v1(80-20): fake tom numbers vs Bomb21XD - bomb keeps dissapointing me, usually when people insist on bringing dog teams, they outplay but for bomb i feel like he gets lost in the sauce
SS 1v1(60-40): zo vs Lialiabeast - classic finalist soon to be winner i would guess vs best SS core in the tour, holy dire
SM 1v1(30-70): Jamez vs Close - immovable object vs unstoppable force
ORAS 1v1(48-52): Mubs vs SEROO - dont lose to mgard, going off form
BW 1v1(80-20): AlyssaVGC vs Corckscrew - someone had to go into bw, whoever it is was getting cooked here anyway, so

How radu and close willed this team into playoffs is quite the feat

SV 1v1 Bo7 (90-10): eblurb vs lost heros - given the parties track records in best-of-seven it should be no surprise that eblurb comes into this matchup as a favorite
I think this comes down to mostly lh sticking to his usual style of team and avoiding nonsense. If he sticks to his guns I think this is closer than it looks on the surface
SV 1v1(50-50): Nuxl vs Fancy1 - both unstoppable forces of the SV BO5 Playerbase that not too long ago shared a team, I think eli is better at figuring people out so. Id have bolded him but i dont rly wanna bold the whole west squad
SV 1v1(55-45): Blanched vs Akuu - akuu is good obviously but between getting cooked in pools and blanchy being fresh and i assume motivated to win this is not a good mix
SV 1v1(60-40): happysh vs Mom Lover - i will keep sticking to the happy hypetrain
SS 1v1: tears vs Rei - this is like picking which laundry detergent is better
SM 1v1: Waylaid vs Marshme1to - marsh wont try in any tier he plays and waylaid i assume is on a revenge tour after throwing away a "free" individual
ORAS 1v1: Synonimous vs torterraxx - peak oras gaming, going for the slight upset cause i cant see south going out w only one win
BW 1v1: SuperMemeBroz vs Urfgurgle - a great mu for the bw enjoyer audience, i think both have had differing takes on the metagame over time so i expect a clash of two distinct/unique/different teamstyles that will come down purely to who can better interpret the others sytle

So ultimately it will come down do east vs west finals barring some unimaginable plot armor (has been seen before)
