Whimsicott

I think I said this before but Worry Seed on this thing is great. It can beat/stall reuniclus and gliscor with worry seed, since subseeding is the greatest lure ever for defensive CM reuniclus and throwing out toxic is a great lure for things that don't mind toxic. It also messes up rest-talk boosters like Suicune.

Encore is the only reason to use whimsicott. You can easily drop sub, it's unecessary and even counterproductive. I will also second the strength of worry seed because it shuts down so many common pokemon, many of which are hard whimsicott counters...although cotton guard is still really good.

Well, my set doesn't have Encore and is useful, I'm trying to get one with a better nature, but..

Whimsicott @ Leftovers
Jolly
Prankster
252Spe/128Def/128SpD (I think, I got it in a trade so I'm not sure)
Substitute
Double Team (Random Matchup)
Cotton Guard
Leech Seed

Perfect counter to things like Conkeldurr and various other physical attackers even if they use a SE move like Ice Punch.

EDIT: Before anyone nags me about the EV's/nature, just keep in mind that you don't know how long it took me to even find an EV'ed Whimsicott, since I'm playing on in-game's WiFi..

i have a question:
if you switch in whimsicott into an attack, lets saw power whip, when you used encore the next turn will it encore power whip even though it was used the turn before or will it just say encore failed?

Encore will succeed if the opponent attacked. So yes, Encore would work in that situation.

Mischievous Heart is my favorite ability EVAR. Priority Taunt/Encore/Substitute/Leech Seed counters ALL sweepers no matter what. I use this on my "Save Stall!" teams, and I love it. I highly advise you to use this Pokemon as an Anti-Sweeper. It will not be set up fodder!

To counter ALL sweepers, you first have to be able to take a hit from ALL sweepers. You can Leech Seed them, but it doesn't matter much if they OHKO you.

Also, that set gets walled by Sunkern. Have a nice day.

Espeon is laughing so hard at you.

Here's something I experienced in-game: If Whimsicott uses Encore on a pokemon that just used Focus Punch, the pokemon will use Focus Punch and it will succeed no matter what. (It doesn't tighten its focus, it just attacks). So don't think that you can stop a Conkeldurr that just Focus-Punched your last pokemon into oblivion.

Free Focus Punches? Do I smell a doubles/triples strat?

Whimsicott @ Focus Sash
Ability: Mischievous Heart
Nature: Jolly
252 HP / 252 Spe / 4Atk

~ Toxic
~ Stun Spore
~ Encore/Taunt
~ U-turn

This thing is great for crippling stuff. Toxic can stop stallers (not named Gliscor), and stun spore can shut down sweepers. Taunt and Encore are both awesome, as taunt again stops
walls, but Encore can give you an easy switch. U-turn is for getting out of there so you can mess up something else.

You have a +speed nature and max speed EVs on a pokemon that requires zero speed. Whimsicott needs its bulk.

Also, it's not a good lead. Nothing is ever going to try to set up on you, so taunt is useless. You're just going to encore yourself into a 2HKO, especially with those EVs.

How about a very unexpected gimmick? Was trying to use Dye's Fluffee from White, and came up with:

Whimsicott@Petaya Berry/???
Prankster
Modest 252 SP. Atk/126 Sp. Def/126 Spd
-Hurricane
-Energy Ball/Giga Drain
-Cotton Guard/Substitute
-Shadow Ball/Substitute

Sub down to Petaya or use Cotton Guard, then aattack with moves. Unfortunately dies to Steels, but I'm not going to create slashitis. Stun Spore, Leech Seed etc. could be put in somewhere, though. It's not very good, but it's there as a surprise.

I have a set with a similar gist, but it has Infiltrator with Tailwind. (Got it off of GTS Negotiations, it's a horrible Pokemon but I like it anyway)

wow that seems like a decent strategy...i wonder why i have never seen it in a battle against the many whimsicotts i have faced(maybe mmoveslot syndrome?)...
i will definitely try it out though...

I can't normally see Whimsicott using Shadow Ball that much without substitute. It gets taken out too easily without substitute or U-turn. Even though this set's just for in-game, if you're aiming at a special attacker I'd drop Hurricane and put up Leech Seed just for some extra support. Giga drain seems more efficient than energy ball since it would be able to get at least some needed health back. Although I'm not the first to think of Whimsicott as a special attack user.

Its because no Reuniclus in their right mind would stay in after they lose magic guard, just as no Excadrill will stay in when they lose sand rush, just like no anything that relies on their ability will stay in when they lose it.

A support move like stun spore is infinitely more useful to your team than worry seed.

I've thought of running this on a Sun team, along with Heatran, to set up the sun at +1 priority. I'm used to doing offensive 'Mons, so I've wondered how this set would work:

Stay Puft
Bold - Prankster
252 HP/100 Def/156 SpDef
@Heat Rock
Sunny Day
Taunt
Substitute
Leech Seed

Basically, I plan to switch in on a wall, Taunt it and try to set up a Sub, sun and then Leech Seed the switch-in before letting Heartran take the move meant for this lil' guy, since it resists everything that's super-effective on Grass, and is even immune to Fire (And Poison, not that it matters...). And if you're wondering about the lack of Encore, well, I'm doing this in the game and I bred my Cottonee before checking to see whether Encore was an Egg move. Good thing I was a slot short anyway...

And as for the weird EV spred, I have no idea, honestly. I shoved 100 vitamins down its throat in each of the two Defense stats, then hoped for the best. So currently, it has 100 in Def and SpecDef, while I'm going for the max HP. Yeah...

EDIT: Also considered Tailwind for support, but... There's no room for it...

Thought of a set like this for doubles with Darmanitan as the other team mate.

Priority Sunny Day with boosted Flare Blitz's to tear the opposition apart.

Even Infernape or Arcanine would be a good partner w/ Whimisicott.

What do we get rid for Worry Seed?

Substitute. Subseeding doesn't work against skilled players.

Its because no Reuniclus in their right mind would stay in after they lose magic guard, just as no Excadrill will stay in when they lose sand rush, just like no anything that relies on their ability will stay in when they lose it.
That's exactly the point. You worry seed, then u-turn. Entry hazards + momentum.
