what are substitutes best uses??

substitute is a very versatile move. but i was thinking what are its best uses? how can it be used to absolutely to change the game? we know this of bellyzard.

also can it not be used on really slow pokemon? it gets you a free turn with dusknoir (as it usually did) and give me a free will-o-wisp.

so in what ways that aren't seen very often can sub be used? and what may a team with all sweepers packing sub be like?
 
SubCM Raikou to take special attacks with no haxy side effects and status, Garchomp to abuse sandstorm, Azumarill / Hariyama / Tyranitar / Gengar to Focus Punch from behind, any Baton Passer for obvious reasons

but everyone, im looking for weird ways that aren't seen often.
like subbing with a slow pokemon like dusknoir so you can pain split or WOW
 
Dusknoir is actually a pretty good Sub-puncher: Ghost/Fight has fantastic coverage. Then, you can cripple stuff by Pain Splitting later, and allows you to WoW the Weavile that might come in.

That's actually really cool I like that

Toxicroak uses sub well due to its rain dance healing ablity.

Well, as you already listed, substitute is extremely essential to the performance of BellyZard.

Substitute is also essential for some Focus Punchers. Some people call them Sub-Punchers. The idea would be to set up a sub, and then use Focus Punch while under the protection of the Sub. Focus Punch is extremely powerful, but takes two turns to use, and if hit while charging up, you're most likely ruined.

Substitute can be important to many sets that need their HP to be low. An example is the Reversal-Medicham I'm breeding ATM. For his Reversal to be at its most powerful, he needs his HP to be quite low (probably 4 Substitutes). So I can use Substitute to lower my HP, and at the same time be able to attack while being temporarily shielded from other moves.

Designed for sleep clause-less battles. PBR, gamestop tourny etc.

Come in on something slower, sleep it, then String Shot whatever comes in. Sleep that, then Substitute. Fire off Bug Buzz volleys and if at any time they wake up sleep again, then sub. Leftovers will keep you alive...

It can sweep teams without sleep clause but sucks ass with it.

"TyraniBoah" depends quite a bit on Substitute. He puts up a Substitute to protect him from incoming attacks, and while behind it, uses Focus Punch.

- Focus Punch
- Substitute
- Crunch / Dark Pulse

Correct me if I got the EV Spread wrong, I really suck at spreads.

Dark Pulse or Crunch basically depends on the person. They're both STAB moves with the same BP, but one is physical while the other is special. Which one you pick depends on if you fear physical or special walls more.

As for Thunderbolt or Ice Beam, it depends on what kind of coverage you want.

I hope I got the spread / moveset right.

Its nice to know there are more sceptile admirers out there.

Lapras Sub/Curse/Waterfall/Return. No one expects physical Lapras!
 
Another fellow Sceptile dude here, hehe. I'm testing new sets with Sceptile, and not surpringly Sub is a great move on him (Overgrow, Berry-boost, Leech Seed, Focus Punch, ect).

You also can't forget how important sub is to Ninjask or Drifblim. They rely heavily on it to pass their awesome speed or HP.
 
Mismagius wouldn't be able to beat non-CM Bliss as easily without Sub, and Jynx wouldn't be nearly as good without it.

I'll give you a Sub-puncher/Seeder than also does this and annoys your opponent to no end..

@ Deck Knight, wouldn't Wood Hammer also be an option? Yeah I know his HP isn't great, but it could be a desperation/last resort kind of move.
 
Though I wouldn't personally recommend it, there is the Anger Point+Get-hit-with-a-critical-hit-for-a-belly drum combo. Anger Point activates even with a sub, and after that, the fun starts.

that is shecks. looks like it could be really annoying.
what about subbing infernape? if you switch infernape on blissey she will expect CC, so sub up and then you get a free turn to rape the ghost switch ins.
