Other Weather Testing on the CAP Server

Early conclusions are that exeggutor is pretty brutal, He boasts a Sp. Att stat of 125. Although he only has a base of 55 speed, and no way to boost his attacks, he still holds his own quite well, able to outspeed starmie and gengar to OHKO with solarbeam and psychic respectivly. It's unfortunate that really, any dragon or steel can stop you in your tracks. But he can still unleash one of the fastest sleep powders in the game. Also, victreebel deserves a mention, with a base of 70 speed and 100 Sp. Att. He's pretty much the same thing but with a much needed speed boost, and slightly less power.

It seems all the chlorophyll grassers have one problem, horrible speed, with the highest (excluding jumpluff, because it doesn't exactly need more speed) being shiftry's 80, if only shiftry had some physical STAB.

Solar power is even worse, with only two pokemon that get it, one has 51 speed (tropuis), and the other, 30 (sunflora). Not even with a scarf can these be usable, considering how frail they are.
 
We shouldn't haveto make G/K shiny or nickname them, as when their ability takes effect, it says "Kyogre's DRIZZLE made it rain!"

The new ability would just say, "Kyogre's WET SPELL made it rain!"

And the same goes for Groudon. Sometimes, we really overthink things.
 
I think giving them a different name would be a good idea, if only to give a clear difference between the "big" and "small" forms. It will decrease the probability of mistaking the two forms, which can only be a good thing.

So basically, yeah, it's a courtesy thing as explained by tennisace.
 
I think shedinja beats out most rain dance abusers besides Kabutops, Relicanth and Ludicolo (who he beats if he gets a sub passed). Too bad those include two of the most common rain dance abusers in the game (besides kingdra).

I did try a swords dance/earthquake/power whip/synthesis set, it was very effective.
the 66% healing under sun is awesome, but it was walled by a few things (Skarm, Mence).
 
I use a Rain Team on shoddy, and i have a decent amout of Pokemon who counter most of the threats.

My Poliwrath takes Kabutops very easily, base 95 defense and base 90 HP. Also, a STAB Brick Break does a number on Kabutops, just shy from from KO. I'm thinking of alternating my moveset to a Rest/Talk set. Poliwrath also can beat Blissey thanks to Rest/Talking.

My team is very unique and different from a lot of teams. I actually run two weather Pokemon on my team.

My Ludicolo counter is Abomasnow. He shuts down everything Ludicolo has to offer. He can't be Leech Seeded, eliminates the Drizzle, and can hit back with a STAB Wood Hammer or Seeb Bomb, and can even Light Screen. Leech Seed, Light Screen, Wood Hammer and Avalanche is a very good way to beat a lot of Pokes. I can get my health back that i am losing from recoil of Wood Hammer. Taking half from Special Attacks, while hitting back with two STAB 120 Base Power moves, what more could you ask for?

As for Kingdra..... Vaporeon, Milotic, Mantine, Regice, Kyogre, Empoleon, Ludicolo and Cradilly(under Tyranitar or Hippowdon Sandstream) are all solid options of switching into Kingdra. Empoleon can even handle Kabutops not carrying Brick Break.

Well those are just my thoughts, i hope i helped you guys out some what. If i ever encounter a Sun team, i will share my thoughts with you guys as well.
 
I have now implemented Dry Spell and Wet Spell on the CAP Server for Groudon and Kyogre. These abilities start weather for five (5) turns, starting when the pokemon is switched in. The new abilities ARE affected by Damp Rock and Heat Rock, as applicable. The rocks make the weather last for eight (8) turns.

Feel free to begin testing turn-limited auto-weather. When using the new abilities, you should still run Kyogre and Groudon at level 78. Also, we should probably come up with an organized way to test 5-turn, and then 8-turn weather. I don't have any specific ideas here, so feel free to offer suggestions.
 
So I went and got a bunch of sun logs today. I kinda played badly in the first one and my opponents sometimes made stupid mistakes like forgetting about Chlorophyll and whatnot but they could still be useful to look over. Also this was my first time on the CaP server so I wasn't too used to dealing with Syclant and Revenankh. The main thing I found out from these fights, is that Tangrowth is a monster in infinite sun.

Well sign for the white team, I was told that i have a pretty good hail team, I'm sure that would add nicely to testing these teams out.
 
Kinda new to this thread, but after reading it over, I am highly intrigued. However, why would we limit sun and rain when sand and hail get permanent weather effects? Isn't limiting of Kyogre and Groudon's base stats enough? Am I missing something?

EDIT: Self proclaiming myself to the blue team, I have commenced testing.

So far I have no real logs because I have fought 4 battles, all of which Kingdra or Ludicolo came in and wrecked havok and ended the battle before the 8 turns were even up. Although it's not hte point of testing, Kyogre has been definately "deuberized" but I am still using him as an almost bulky status resttalker. I have yet to fight any other weather teams, but I am hoping to test out the air lock Rev to combat other weather teams. I will keep posts updated.

Yeah there are people testing sun.

Galahad and the_artic_one come to mind but in general it does seem like rain is getting a lot more attention.

edit: btw, I'm doubt I'd bother testing sun because groudon at level 78 isn't allowed in MTs. I love my sand team for a reason (look at all the MT points it got me, my score has more than doubled since I started using it). All of my experiences with going against rain or sun teams had me lose, however.

Yeah, I'm having some trouble getting good logs, none of my battles are very memorable, and pretty much just involve me sweeping with chlorophyll or Dragonite, or getting my ass kicked by other auto-weather or status.

I fair badly against sandstrom >.> I may have to rethink only using solarbeam, lol.
