[OVERVIEW]

Uxie is a rather unique Pokemon for RU, as it is a defensive Pokemon with a base Speed stat of 95, which is high for such Pokemon. With access to U-turn and Stealth Rock, Uxie works best on offensive teams, as it can check common threats to offense, such as Medicham and Venusaur. Uxie also benefits from having access to many utility moves, most notably Yawn and Thunder Wave, which let it cripple the foe and pivot out with U-turn afterwards. Due to its 75 / 130 / 130 bulk, Uxie is pretty hard to take down, which means it can disrupt the momentum of the opposing team. However, Uxie has very poor offensive presence, as its base 75 offenses are rather low. Uxie is also susceptible to being worn down, as it does not have reliable recovery.

Moves
========

Stealth Rock deals damage every time a Pokemon switches in, and Uxie's above-average Speed ensures it sets up the hazard reliably. U-turn and Yawn allow Uxie to pivot out of threats, gaining momentum for the team. Alternatively, Thunder Wave can also be used instead of Yawn to cripple faster threats, such as Sneasel, Virizion, Choice Scarf Medicham, and Delphox, which are common threats. Psyshock is used to hit Venusaur, Virizion, Hitmonlee, and Sawk, all of which are prominent threats in the metagame. One of the main reasons to use Psyshock over other Psychic-type STAB moves is that the Pokemon Uxie wants to hit are physically less bulky, and running Psyshock allows Uxie to switch into Scald without much hesitation. However, Zen Headbutt could be used in conjunction with an Impish nature to have a stronger U-turn, which will deal more damage to Dark-types that will try to switch in on Uxie, while Psychic can be used to fare better versus Gurdurr. Dazzling Gleam can be used over U-turn, as it makes Uxie hit Dark-types harder, while running Heal Bell over Thunder Wave allows Uxie to act as a cleric, making it a somewhat decent choice in some balance teams.

Set Details
========

The given Speed EVs allow Uxie to outspeed Timid Venusaur and other Pokemon with a base Speed stat of or lower than 80, while the rest of Uxie's EVs are put into HP and Defense to maximize its overall bulk. It does not need much investment in defenses due to its high defensive base stats. Colbur Berry is used because of the plethora of Dark-types in the tier, so Uxie can either cripple them or pivot on them. Alternatively, a spread of 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD with 30 Speed IVs can be used with a Bold nature to have a slower U-turn, which allows Uxie's teammate to have a safe switch in.

Usage Tips
========

Uxie is a great lead, and it is almost always safe to lead with, unless the opponent has an Escavalier or Hoopa on their team. Uxie is a very consistent Stealth Rock user and can generate momentum with U-turn after it has set up the hazard. Uxie should be used as a defensive pivot, usually switching into Fighting-type Pokemon. Yawn should be used to cripple walls or put setup sweepers on a timer. Try to take advantage of the free turns Yawn provides. Thunder Wave should be used to cripple faster threats such as Virizion, Aerodactyl, Sneasel, and Drapion. Preserving Colbur Berry to cripple Sneasel and Drapion is recommended. Keep in mind that Uxie has no reliable recovery, so it shouldn't be used too recklessly.

Team Options
========

As Yawn forces switches, hazard-stacking Pokemon such as Garbodor, Qwilfish, and Mega Glalie are great partners for Uxie. Slow wallbreakers such as Mega Camerupt, Exploud, and Hoopa appreciate Uxie's ability to spread Thunder Wave. Despite not being a wallbreaker, Gurdurr also benefits from Thunder Wave support, as it gets an easier time to sweep. As Uxie has no reliable recovery, Wish passers such as Alomomola and Aromatisse are good partners for it. However, these Pokemon aren't good for offense, and they should be used in balanced builds instead. Fighting-types such as Emboar, Virizion, Gurdurr, Sawk, and Medicham are good partners, as they can take care of the Dark-types that threaten Uxie.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Dual screens Uxie can be used, but it is mediocre because there are few Pokemon that can actually benefit from this support. Uxie can run a set consisting of Calm Mind, Psychic, Hidden Power Ground, and Rest with Chesto Berry to act as a setup sweeper, but this is still pressured by Dark-types, as Uxie fails to KO most of them with its coverage move. Uxie acts as the premier weather setter for sun or rain teams, with Rain Dance / Sunny Day, Knock Off / U-turn, Stealth Rock, and Memento. A specially defensive set can be used to fare better against Venusaur, Mega Camerupt, Abomasnow, and Meloetta. Dazzling Gleam can be used over U-turn, as it makes Uxie hit Dark-types harder, while running Heal Bell over Thunder Wave allows Uxie to act as a cleric, making it a somewhat decent choice in some balance teams.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Dark-types**: Houndoom, Scrafty, Drapion, Sneasel, Spiritomb, and Absol are immune to Uxie's STAB moves and can hit hard in return. Houndoom, Drapion, Sneasel, and Absol can heavily weaken it, although they need to watch out for Thunder Wave. Scrafty can use it as setup fodder if it is running Shed Skin, and Spiritimb can Pursuit trap it.

**Bulky Water-types**: Alomomola, Slowking, Jellicent, and Blastoise can shrug off any damage from Uxie, and in return they can attempt to burn it with Scald or cripple it with Toxic.

**Bulky Steel-types**: Registeel and Bronzong resist Uxie's attacks, don't mind a Thunder Wave, and can cripple it with Toxic

**Wallbreakers**: Hoopa, Exploud, and Mega Camerupt can 2HKO Uxie with their STAB moves, while Uxie can only pivot out. Choice Band Escavalier can OHKO Uxie and should be watched out for.

**Bulky Setup Sweepers**: Substitute + Bulk Up Braviary and Gallade can set up on Uxie if they're behind a Substitute, since Uxie cannot do anything to stop them.

For the record, 252 HP / 16 Def / 240 Spe 252 HP / 20 Def / 236 Spe with an Impish nature yield 4 more defense points than the set you posted

e: it says bold but +def so you know what I mean w/e
e2: Actually 252 HP / 20 Def / 236 Spe gives you the highest amount of defense possible while also outspeeding max speed base 80 mons by one point

man, i was coming in w/the understanding that i was gonna have to look over ev stuff, but it's already sorted. love the new gen of players man, wonderful stuff.

but, uh, while i get that a strong u-turn sounds really appealing in this malamar-friendly meta, i think it is worth equal consideration that this pokemon will commonly find itself on more offensive teams, which lends itself both to occasional scald pivoting and a much lesser desire to chip that malamar for however much more. in less words, i think psyshock + bold is worth a slash. also, i would say that the 'slow u-turn' ev'ing is worth mention (but not as a main spread), again falling into the mentality that uxie can see play equally on more offensive stuff as it does balance and in those instances you want it slow to avoid ur key offensive dudes taking hits. ofc mention that a spread like that isn't as ideal for checking a bunch of relevant things w/o assuming for it to be at max (cham / venu being the most glaring stuff), but the fact that you can spread ur evs around way more liberally in addition to implications for keeping frail mons from stomaching hits makes it worth the nod.

I hate all of the Psychic moves being slashed because it looks really ugly. They're all good options depending on the team, but imo just stick to one Psychic move for the set and put the rest in Moves.

[overview]

  • Mention Uxie is best on offensive teams because it has access to rocks, generates momentum, and counters troublesome threats like Scarf Medicham.
  • Mention it's extremely hard to OHKO with anything other than CB Escavalier Megahorn, and it has the tools to disrupt momentum vs most other Pokemon, which makes it a safe lead.
  • Also mention the obvious downside of no recovery which means Uxie isn't that well suited for more defensive teams as it just gets worn down.
[set details]
  • it can pivot out of threats with U-Turn, gaining momentum for the team
  • it can cripple walls using yawn, making them prone to being a setup fodder.
The Yawn mention is a little off. I guess you can cripple walls with it, but it's more for generating momentum through the combined use of Yawn and then U-turn, since generally people try to avoid getting slept if they can. mention this in usage tips too.

[usage tips]

  • again, mention that it's generally pretty safe to lead with this unless you see the enemy has CB escav or a hoopa. very consistent at setting up rocks and then generating momentum.
[set details]

"the evs allow uxie to outspeed timid venusaur"

  • also important to note jolly medicham and other base 80's.

[other options]
  • mention a specially defensive spread for better taking on stuff like venusaur, mega camel, and abomasnow.

[C&C]

  • w/ how you worded it, it makes it seem like cb escav megahorn 2hkos. make it clear that it ohko's.

hy i really think you should leave psyshock as the main psychic move and mention zen headbutt in moves since doing approximately ~5% more damage to sneasel (the damage roll for neutral atk is 50-60 and -atk is 45-54) and only ~2% more damage on most neutral hits is really not worth the loss of consistency and accuracy. youre only using u-turn to pivot, not for damage.

in addition, nobody would realistically let sneasel take a potential thunder wave from uxie and of course they would never switch in on it unless they're going to ohko, so it is extremely situational in that regard, whereas accuracy is a much more relevant issue.

b/c of all this, having zen headbutt as the only move in the slot in the moveset is quite misleading

just my thoughts, take it however you like

The thing is that Psyshock and Zen Headbutt has the same base power with the same BST (Uxie has 75 Atk and SpA), so the benefit of Zen Headbutt is that a stronger U-Turn can be used, while still hitting Virizion hard.

I would just go with Psyshock as the main STAB. You're using U-turn much in the same way that stuff like Hoopa uses Knock Off; for the effect, not the damage. Besides, I don't want my Fighting check getting worn down more than it has to 10% of the time when I could avoid that potential. On to other stuff:

[Defensive Pivot]

- Note why you would use Colbur Berry over Leftovers in Set Details. Nothing is mentioned about it
- Be sure to clarify that the Wish users should obviously not be used on more offensive builds Uxie is usually used on, but more balanced / bulky offense builds

Looking for more stuff and not finding. You disappoint me >.> QC Approved 2/3

added them in moves section. I suggested Dazzling Gleam over U-Turn, not quite sure about this, so it'd be nice if you gave your feedback.
