Overview
########

Uxie has good defensive stats that allow it to pull off both specially and physically defensive spreads, meaning that it can wall significant portions of the metagame. It has good base Speed for a defensive utility Pokemon, which means it can outspeed Pokemon it is walling and use a utility move or threaten them out with an attack. Uxie is extremely versatile, being able to run multiple viable sets; this versatility leads to unpredictability and allows Uxie to fulfill multiple roles on any given team. Its versatility stems from its access to multiple support moves such as Stealth Rock, Thunder Wave, Memento, weather moves, and dual screens. However, Uxie has mediocre offensive stats and is largely outclassed by Mesprit in any offensive role; the only good offensive set that Uxie can pull off is a bulky Calm Mind set.

Moves
========

Stealth Rock is for chip damage, to break Focus Sashes, and to check Fire- and Flying-types. Thunder Wave is good for crippling fast Pokemon and is a general nuisance to opposing teams. Psychic is a good STAB move for when Uxie needs to stay in and attack. U-turn is for gaining momentum and allows Uxie to function as a bulky pivot. Heal Bell is an option to remove status from Uxie and its teammates, while Knock Off is a good utility move that removes important items such as Leftovers or Choice items. Yawn can be used to force switches and gain momentum with U-turn, or to put a Pokemon to sleep.

Set Details
========

Maximum HP and Defense EVs let Uxie take as many physical hits as possible. A Relaxed nature further increases Uxie's Defense, allows for slower U-turns, and doesn't decrease the power of either of its attacks. Alternatively, a spread of 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD with a Sassy nature can be used to let Uxie take as many special hits as possible. Leftovers is used for increased longevity, and Levitate is Uxie's only ability, allowing it to avoid Spikes, Toxic Spikes, and Sticky Web.

Usage Tips
========

Uxie can function as a lead, setting up Stealth Rock and then U-turning out into an appropriate Pokemon to gain momentum. Use Thunder Wave on fast offensive threats to make them easier for the rest of your team to deal with. Uxie can also be used as a pivot, switching in, taking a hit, and then U-turning out into an appropriate check or counter. Be wary of switching in multiple times, as Uxie has no reliable recovery and gets worn down fairly easily through multiple hits.

Team Options
========

Spikes setters such as Ferroseed, Quilladin, and Qwilfish can set up Spikes alongside Uxie's Stealth Rock. Spinblockers such as Gourgeist-S and Mismagius prevent the opponent from spinning away Stealth Rock and Spikes. Wish users such as Lickilicky and Audino are good teammates for Uxie, as they can pass Wishes to Uxie, solving its lack of reliable recovery.

Calm Mind boosts Special Defense and Special Attack, allowing Uxie to become both bulky and strong. Substitute is used to dodge status, and Uxie's Substitute can occasionally take multiple hits before breaking, increasing Uxie's longevity. Psyshock is a STAB move that inflicts physical damage, allowing Uxie to beat Pokemon that try to set up Calm Mind boosts alongside it. Giga Drain provides good neutral coverage, while giving Uxie a way to recover HP that is faster than the passive recovery of Leftovers. Dazzling Gleam is a good coverage move, providing Uxie with perfect neutral coverage except against Steel-types. Thunderbolt allows for neutral coverage against Steel-types, while Hidden Power Fire can be used to hit Steel-types harder, especially Ferroseed.

Set Details
========

188 HP EVs and 60 Defense EVs let Uxie's Substitute take a Knock Off from Audino without breaking, while also providing a Leftovers number. 224 Speed EVs with a Timid nature let Uxie outspeed max Speed Rotom and other base 90 Speed Pokemon. 36 Special Attack EVs give Uxie a chance to 2HKO Feraligatr with Giga Drain. Alternatively, a spread of 184 HP / 48 Def / 100 SpA / 176 Speed with a Timid nature can be used so that Uxie can outspeed and OHKO Jolly Choice Band Sawk at +1 with Psyshock, while still preventing Audino from breaking Uxie's Substitute with Knock Off.

Usage Tips
========

Uxie should be brought in against Pokemon that cannot break its Substitute, such as Audino and other defensive Pokemon. Against more offensive teams, Uxie should be brought in late-game to set up against a Pokemon that cannot do much to it. Try to get at least three Calm Mind boosts before attempting a sweep, because Uxie's stopping power is pretty low without any boosts. Watch out for status, as it will decrease Uxie's longevity; use Substitute on a predicted status move to create a free turn for Uxie to start setting up. Avoid Knock Off, as Uxie needs its Leftovers to recover health while setting up. Uxie can regain health with Giga Drain when it is ready to sweep.

Team Options
========

Entry hazard setters such as Accelgor and Crustle help to limit the opponent's switches and can allow Uxie to set up a sweep earlier against weakened opponents. Clerics such as Audino and Vileplume make good teammates for Uxie, as they can remove any unwanted status from Uxie. Uxie appreciates Knock Off absorbers such as Granbull and Slurpuff, as the removal of Leftovers is detrimental to Uxie's ability to sweep.

Usage Tips
========

Dual Screens should be set up early on in the game; if Uxie is running Stealth Rock, make sure to set up screens first to minimize the damage that Uxie takes while setting up. If Uxie is still above 60% health after setting up screens, U-turn out into a sweeper or an appropriate check; however, if Uxie is below 40% health, use Memento, go out into a sweeper, and begin setting up. If a Pokemon that has Defog switches in, such as Pelipper, Mantine, or Swanna, use Memento on it to prevent it from using Defog on Uxie. Then go out into a Pokemon that threatens the Defog user or can set up on it; the opponent will be forced to choose whether to use Defog or to switch out.

Team Options
========

Setup sweepers such as Belly Drum Slurpuff and Swords Dance Feraligatr appreciate the extra turns to set up that Uxie creates with dual screens and Memento. If Uxie is not running Stealth Rock, entry hazard setters such as Crustle and Accelgor provide chip damage and break Focus Sashes and Sturdy, making it easier for sweepers to do their job.

When Uxie is placed in a sun team, its teammates should include an alternate weather setter such as Liepard or Volbeat for priority weather late-game, and sun sweepers such as Victreebel, Typhlosion, Sawsbuck, and Pyroar.

Other Options
########

Other options for Uxie include running a Trick set with either Choice Band, Choice Scarf, or Choice Specs. Uxie can also run offensive sets with the aforementioned Choice items; however, these sets are largely outclassed by Mesprit. Foul Play can be used on defensive sets as a way to prevent physically offensive Pokemon such as Feraligatr from setting up on Uxie. Magic Coat can be used to bounce back an opposing team's entry hazards and statuses. A ChestoRest set can be used for recovery; however, Uxie struggles to find room for Rest and loses out on the passive recovery of Leftovers. Toxic and Yawn are other status options that can be used over Thunder Wave; Yawn can force switches or put an opposing Pokemon to sleep, while Toxic can quickly wear down opposing walls. Uxie can be used as a Trick Room setter with Memento and Stealth Rock. An anti-lead set with Power Herb and Solar Beam can be used to lure in and KO opposing Stealth Rock setters such as Seismitoad and Rhydon.

Checks & Counters
########

**Dark-types**: Dark-type Pokemon such as Liepard, Pawniard, and Sneasel can threaten Uxie with a powerful Knock Off, removing its Leftovers and dealing massive amounts of damage to it. Liepard can Encore Uxie into a utility move and U-turn out, providing momentum for the opposing team. Pawniard can set up on Uxie, gain a +2 Attack boost thanks to Defiant if Uxie tries to use Memento on it, and hurt it with a STAB Knock Off; however, Pawniard does not appreciate taking a U-turn. Sneasel can seriously injure Uxie with Knock Off or trap it with Pursuit.

**Taunt**: Faster Taunt users such as Archeops, Mismagius, and Liepard can all prevent Uxie from doing its job; however, they must already be on the field to prevent Uxie from using one utility move.

**Status**: Uxie has no form of reliable recovery, so status moves like Will-O-Wisp and Toxic wear it down quickly. Many Pokemon that Uxie likes to switch in on, such as Vileplume, Dragalge, Garbodor, and Qwifish, can all inflict status on Uxie, quickly wearing it down.

**Ghost-types**: Ghost-type Pokemon such as Mismagius and Golurk can hurt Uxie with their STAB moves. Mismagius can Taunt Uxie to prevent it from using any of its utility options, and proceed to use Nasty Plot and threaten to KO Uxie with Shadow Ball. Golurk is immune to Thunder Wave and can either hit Uxie hard with a STAB Shadow Punch or set up Stealth Rock on the switch.

Just getting this up so if anyone wants to post a set or particular EV spread they can, Uxie has a ton of different sets out there so feel free to comment with yours.

Edit: also gonna just put sets in no particular order, QC can give an order suggestion or I will talk on IRC about it.
 
Rain setter is cool set that I think you should mention since it's relatively fast and has access to rocks rain dance and memento. With weather dominating starting to get more popular, it would be a worthy set to have.
Definitely not the first set, the first set should be a phys def one.

The last set should be a subcm set, I do genuinely think is a threat if played around like it was a defensive uxie
 
Sets should probably be:
  • Screens
  • SubCM
  • Weather
  • Defensive utility set
Not necessarily in that order but yeah.

Btw your current Screens set should have SR slashed (most likely with U-turn). Most of the time when I used this thing it's primarily because it gets Screens + rocks which combined with its bulk is really nice to have.

Gonna move this for QC checks. I'm unsure on what spreads to run so I just put max defense max hp for most of them, if there is a better/optimal spread I'll change it to that. Also I find running speed on screens uxie unnecessary as you outpace most defoggers anyways, now that Shiftry is gone and the extra bulk allows Uxie to setup screens twice. Hope I didnt miss anything obvious.
 
I think all the sets should use at least some Speed tbh

Screens doesn't need so much bulk imo as Reflect / Light Screen already cushion hits and it likes being able to set up Screens vs faster mons at low health since it gets worn down pretty quickly. I'd honestly just use max Speed unless anyone has any better ideas

SubCM generally likes running enough Speed for Sawk (such as Zeb's post here or Treecko's RMT, the rest of the EVs could use some toying around with but 176 Spe is a good benchmark imo. It's probably a good benchmark for Lefties SR as well

Weather is a bit more debatable since a slower U-turn is nice but I still personally preferred a speedier variant for a last-ditch rain against stuff that falls between 226 - 317 Spe. A faster Memento / Yawn if you're using that is also kinda cool too but it might be just me

Yeah I was unsure on spreads as for most Uxie sets I've run I've just been lazy and done max max lol. Also for screens the added bulk ensures Uxie can set them up twice, as far as speed goes Uxie is already outspeeding a large portion of the defensive tier with that nice 95 base speed, so on that set I actually preferred the added bulk once shiftry left the tier.

hey Montsegur whole skeleton needs some work imo, maybe re-read the whole thing because theres some thing weird (like subcm's set details)

As for the first set, the moves order should be Stealth Rock, Psychic, Thunder Wave, U-Turn. Knock Off and Heal Bell in moves. IDK about Relaxed and Sassy, seems useless to me, but eh. You might want other qcer's opinion on that.

Screens and Weather needs to be updated too
 
Isn't there a hipster Anti-Lead set? With a power herb and Solar Beam and stuff? You could try putting that in OO? Kinda like an old Crustle set..? Does it catch anything off guard in particular...also why use weather Uxie over say...Prankster Liepard or Volbeat? Is the slow u-Turn enough? Becuase even Volbeat can do that! You might want to mention that Uxie is a lot easier to play now without stuff like Spiritomb,with its only commonly played stop being Liepard. Maybe suggest HP:Fighting for Probopass and Pawniard in the CM set? It's all good ^^

hey Montsegur whole skeleton needs some work imo, maybe re-read the whole thing because theres some thing weird (like subcm's set details)

anyway i think the order should be subcm>defensive>screens>weather

and here's what I think the SubCM set should look like:

As for the first set, the moves order should be Stealth Rock, Psychic, Thunder Wave, U-Turn. Knock Off and Heal Bell in moves. IDK about Relaxed and Sassy, seems useless to me, but eh. You might want other qcer's opinion on that.

Yeah as far as set details and what not go I was planning on updating and then slipped my mind. As far as the current spread on the sub CM set goes, that was the one Zeb posted a while back and I had yet to find what they actually did. Giga is a better option to tbolt I agree. Will update with your spread.

As far as set order goes it was always flexible so ill update with your order.

Sassy and Relaxed are to make it so physical or special moves aren't piss weak while using them. Will update move order.

Will reread the whole thing and make changes accordingly.

I'll make a mention of power herb solar beam in oo, could be decent vs quad weak setters. The reason to use Uxie for weather setting is the bulk it provides and the ability to setup stealth rocks, usually when building a rain team you want to have a bulky setter and a priority setter. The bulky setter should have Stealth Rock along with Rain Dance so it can setup both, and then the priority weather is for late in the match. As far as HP goes, it doesn't really provide enough coverage and power for Sub CM Uxie, giga drain hits Probopass and Dazzling Gleam hits Pawniard hard enough. Also it's more of a late game sweeper so threats like that should be taken care of before trying to set up.

Dat Blast I have changed the CM spread to Soulgazers. For the other spreads you said you like to run some speed, is it just speed creeping or is there a particular spread you like to use? If so what is it? Also what is your opinion on Relaxed and Sassy Nature on the Defensive Utility set? They allow for a slower Uturn, which makes it easier to bring stuff in, and they also make it so that Knock Off and U-turn (this matters to a lesser extent) arent piss weak when trying to attack something, ie a negative attack nature.


Soulgazer I have updated the CM set, and the set orders. I re-read over the analysis and I think aside from the natures on the defensive utility set, everything else is in order. When you said that screens and weather needed to be updated what did you mean by that? I went through and double checked that everything was still relevant.


If I missed something let me know otherwise any other suggestions are welcome.
 
I meant the ev spreads. dual screens uxie should be max hp max speed lol, and maybe more teammates like hazard setters etc. same for weather. i didnt use those sets as much as the other two tho so if min speed is the way to go, then ignore this
 
Dat Blast felt like speed was the way to go, however now that Shiftry is out of the tier, most defoggers are quite slow so Uxie can outspeed uninvested. The speed was originally so that you could Memento on Shiftry before it was able to Defog away the screens. The extra bulk allows Uxie to set up screens twice consistently in my experience with it. Maybe a little bit of speed wouldnt be a bad idea, but imo bulk over speed on that set.
 
gleam is shit on SubCM. like the only things you hit with gleam that you don't hit with tbolt is cacturne and exeggutor. I'd rather see tbolt/hp fire there. tbolt hits gears, pawniard, and probopass, and hp fire hits steelix and ferroseed, though you set up all over seed anyways.

you can also mention 184 HP / 48 Def / 100 SpA / 176 Spe Timid for SubCM. It outruns Jolly Sawk and OHKOs it with +1 Psyshock. You need like max SpA to OHKO unboosted after Rocks or some shit like that, so it's not even worth it.

I think Scarf should get a set as well. It'd be Trick / Stealth Rock / U-turn / Zen Headbutt or Psychic, max Speed, lots of HP, leftover in Defense. I know it was a fun set in BW RU, and I've used it a couple times in NU this gen to some pretty good success.
 
I mentioned HP fire in moves (although it seems a bit weak) and removed the slash leaving dazzling gleam / tbolt / hp fire in moves. mentioned your spread, and will bring up a scarf set with the rest of the team.
 
i feel like the stealth rock set should be listed first. you can just basically slap it on any team and it works, while the sub cm team requires one to build around it, or at least take care of its counters. as for effectiveness, they do completely different things so you can't really compare that

on the weather setter set i feel that you should only really have one of u turn or memento since they pretty much accomplish the same thing. thunder wave / psychic should probably be the last slot
