Hello! So this is a team that I've been trying out in Showdown for a while. I think it's doing pretty well, but I sometimes can't tell if I just need more practice myself or if I need to edit the team in some places. I put some concerns I have about it at the bottom. Thanks for reviewing it!
Overview:
Team:
Tyranitar-Mega (F) @ Tyranitarite
Ability: Sand Stream
Level: 50
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Careful Nature
- Earthquake
- Rock Slide/Rock Polish
- Crunch
- Iron Head
I typically use Tyranitar as a bulky physical attacker alongside Tapu Fini, which can raise Tyranitar's attack with Swagger. I added this as my team's mega because of my team's weakness to Tapu Koko and Arcanine. This and Tapu Fini are usually my lead Pokemon if there are no obvious fighting type threats. I chose a careful nature to make it more specially defensive, especially in a sandstorm. Protect would probably be useful on Tyranitar, but I can't choose which move to replace it with. I'm also considering teaching it Rock Polish to use alongside Tapu Fini's Swagger.
Tapu Fini @ Leftovers
Ability: Misty Surge
Level: 50
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Muddy Water
- Moonblast
- Swagger
- Heal Pulse
Tapu Fini is my team's support Pokemon. Swagger helps power up Mimikyu and Tyranitar's attacks while Misty Surge cures the confusion. It could also be used for Landorus, but Misty Surge doesn't cure its confusion. Heal Pulse helps when Celesteela (or any other Pokemon) needs to survive another attack.
Landorus-Therian @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Intimidate
Level: 50
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Rock Slide
- U-turn
- Superpower
I sometimes use Landorus as the lead because it can outspeed and damage setup Pokemon, and because it has U-turn to switch out if I need it to. Usually, Landorus works as a fast physical sweeper or a revenge killer because of its speed.
Celesteela @ Iapapa Berry
Ability: Beast Boost
Level: 50
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Sassy Nature
- Leech Seed
- Substitute
- Flamethrower
- Heavy Slam
Celesteela was added to my team because I had a lack of physically defensive walls, and its HP recover option using leech seed works well alongside Tyranitar's sandstorm. It also works well with Tapu Fini's heal pulse and muddy water against fire types. Celesteela is sassy to give it enough special defence to survive special fire type attacks and because it already has low speed.
Mimikyu (M) @ Lum Berry
Ability: Disguise
Level: 50
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Wood Hammer
- Play Rough
- Shadow Sneak
Mimikyu works well as a revenge killer and as a switch-in to any fighting type attacks against Tyranitar. It also benefits from Tapu Fini's Swagger, which can save it a turn of using Swords Dance. It's also the only Pokemon on my team with a grass or ghost type move, so I sometimes use Mimikyu against water types and rain dance teams.
Milotic (F) @ Assault Vest
Ability: Competitive
Level: 50
EVs: 252 HP / 76 Def / 172 SpA / 8 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Icy Wind
- Ice Beam
- Scald
- Hidden Power [Electric]
I added Milotic to the team because of my lack of special attacking Pokemon and ice type moves. Being the only Pokemon with an electric type move, it's especially helpful against Pelipper and Gyarados. Icy Wind is on it as a form of speed control because many of the Pokemon on my team are relatively slow.
(Another possibility would be to replace Milotic with hidden power ice Zapdos.)
Some possible problems with the team:
Most of the Pokemon on this team are slow compared to most teams it goes up against. I'm a bit reluctant to make it into a trick room team because that would require switching out several Pokemon and reworking some others, which would probably make it into a completely different team. I was also wondering if there was a lack of type coverage with this team. Tyranitar and Landorus are really similar, and Milotic is the only Pokemon with electric and ice type moves.
Thanks for taking the time to read this, I really appreciate it!
