[SET COMMENTS]
Toxapex is one of the premier defensive Pokemon in the tier due to its amazing ability in Regenerator, huge defensive stats, good defensive typing, and great utility moves. These traits make it an excellent wall for bulkier teams that can check and counter many key Pokemon in the metagame such as Ash-Greninja, Mega Scizor, Mega Charizard Y, and Weavile. Scald burns physical attackers and discourages Pokemon such as Landorus-T, Garchomp, and Mega Medicham from switching into Toxapex. Toxic wears down foes and gives Toxapex more turns to use Recover, Knock Off cripples foes like Tapu Fini and Heatran, and Toxic Spikes spreads status and forces Defog if the opponent does not have a Poison-type to absorb them. Haze thwarts setup attempts from foes like Clefable and Hawlucha. The given EV spread allows Toxapex to survive two Knock Offs from Choice Band Weavile and +2 Kartana's Leaf Blade from full HP.
Toxapex fits very well on bulky teams, as it pairs well with fellow Regenerator users like Tangrowth. Bulky Pokemon like Skarmory, Chansey, Hippowdon, and Mega Latias form an incredibly hard-to-break defensive core with Toxapex. Toxapex appreciates having teammates that can switch into its very few weaknesses. Ground-resistant and -immune partners like Tangrowth, Corviknight, Gliscor, Skarmory, and Mega Latias are excellent switch-ins into Garchomp, Landorus-T, and opposing Gliscor, while Electric-immune teammates like Gliscor and Landorus-T can deal with Electric-types such as Magnezone, Tapu Koko, and Zeraora. Ferrothorn is an amazing partner due to it being able to handle Electric- and Psychic-types like Tapu Koko and Mega Latias for Toxapex. Toxapex appreciates having entry hazard removal on its side, as Spikes and Stealth Rock can bother it long term; Pokemon like Corviknight and Zapdos make a good core with it. Toxic Spikes variants have great synergy with bulky setup sweepers such as Reuniclus, Mega Latias, Gliscor, and Clefable due to Toxic Spikes wearing down their counters over time. In return, the former two are able to handle Mega Medicham, which is a threat to Toxapex.

Other Options
=============
Gastro Acid is a good option in tandem with Toxic, as it punishes Toxic-immune Pokemon that try to set up on Toxapex, like Clefable, Reuniclus, and Gliscor; it can also remove other abilities that might hinder Toxapex's effectiveness, such as Natural Cure from Blissey. However, a lot of the time, Gastro Acid is less useful than simply running Haze and Toxic. Shed Shell can be useful to escape Heatran's Magma Storm, however; in most situations, the passive recovery from Black Sludge is better. Physically defensive variants can be used to better check Pokemon like Hawlucha, Mega Lopunny, and Mega Mawile, but Toxapex is generally best used to tank special hits. Papaya Berry is an option that allows Toxapex to sponge a hit from foes like Mega Medicham, Latias, and Tapu Lele and cripple them with Toxic, Knock Off, or a Scald burn; however, this tends to be incredibly situational. Lastly, Baneful Bunker can be used to scout moves from Choice-locked foes like Greninja, Landorus-T, Magnezone, and Tapu Lele, as well as punish physical attackers like Mega Medicham and Zeraora. However, this makes Toxapex significantly more passive and unable to handle Pokemon that come in on it freely such as Mega Charizard Y and Magnezone.
Checks and Counters
===================
**Ground-types**: Ground-types such as Landorus-T, Garchomp, Gliscor, Mega Swampert, and Excadrill can OHKO Toxapex with Earthquake and force it out. Gliscor deserves a special mention, as it can freely use Toxapex as setup fodder and cannot be hurt by burn or poison after Toxic Orb has been activated due to Poison Heal. However, the other Ground-types fear getting burned or poisoned.
**Psychic-types**: Psychic-types such as Tapu Lele, Reuniclus, Mega Latios, and Mega Medicham threaten Toxapex with their super effective attacks and force it out. Slowbro and Slowking can use Future Sight to scare Toxapex from coming into Pokemon it wants to check, like Ash-Greninja and Mega Charizard Y.
**Magic Guard Users**: Magic Guard users like Clefable and Reuniclus are not affected by Toxapex's status moves and can use it as an opportunity to set entry hazard or boost with Calm Mind. However, if Clefable lacks Thunder or gets its Life Orb removed, it can be forced into a stalemate with Haze.
