Hosted by ken, Vertigo, Syrinix, UT, goldmason, and mimi. Also, Larry.

In keeping the same format that we used in 2024, the sheer amount of games to be played will keep many on their toes until the final hours of qualifiers and pools. With Spain being relegated in 2024 after having won it all in 2023, they're certainly a team to watch from the very beginning as they attempt to mount their comeback in 2025. Europe is another team to watch, especially after the recent update to eligibility policy and when you take into account they've made it to semifinals in four of the last five years. In fact, the last SEVEN editions have had different regions claim the blue trophy, so perhaps we may even see bigger upsets.

US Midwest won it all last year, their first time sitting atop the podium, and in the last seven years, each US region has won the trophy once. Will we see any of the US teams earn another trophy, or will we see a team run through qualifiers and take it all the way for the first time since 2022? Will Africa use their starting position in the main event as a propeller to push for the trophy? Who will predict the highest percentage of pools matchup winners correctly? Only time will tell, so keep watching and remember:

FIGHT FOR YOUR COUNTRY!!!

Might be kinda random to do this a year later, but since I decided I am not returning for this year’s WCoP, I’d like to shoutout my team, US Midwest, for doing the unimaginable and winning this tournament last year. Unfortunately I got busy last year and by the time I went to go write shoutouts the thread was closed lol.

This was something 5 tournaments in the making since back in 2020 when MANNAT and I took the helm. Love us or hate us, we turned a team that hadn’t touched playoffs in about a decade into the single most consistent team in the modern era of WCoP with streak of 5 playoff appearances and a victory to cap it off.

With that said, our success was less our doing and more due to our amazing anchor players over the years - Luthier, dice, zio, kythr, mike, and of course, Tace. I’d also like to shoutout Sam for trusting us all those years ago - hopefully you return to collect your trophy this year. Thanks guys for 5 amazing tournaments - I hope to see Midwest continue to have success and to hopefully be the first team in a long time to go b2b.

For those who are captaining or playing for smaller countries and regions - I hope our victory last year shows that you don’t need “star power” or a high volume of eligible players to win. All you need is love for your team and the confidence to know that anyone can beat anyone.

To those participating in this year’s WCoP, have fun. This is a special tournament. I look forward to keeping up with it as a spectator for the first time in a long time.

If you're from the southern US don't be afraid to shoot your shot with any of our captains. Try to pitch yourself and make it clear what your Smogon name is if we may not recognize you. Always on the look out for fresh talent to bring in, whether it be for this year or the future :toast:

I ranked every single team that will be entering the WCOP qualifiers here:
I gave the best possible input I could have on each team as an introductory video for people looking for teams to root for and teams to keep an eye out for

may the best team win and I'm looking forward to seeing the games

edit: info on asia accidentally got cut, but here's a short summary of what was said:

they've been bouncing around a lot in the main event and qualifiers, have a lot of strong talent in ahy addicted, jj09 and pkel with a potential upset player in kaneki-san. lady bug did well in SPL after a very long hiatus, so maybe he can show something cool here. overall, strong top end team

Hi, if you're a Canadian player planning to signup for Team Canada this year and are interested in trying out, reach out to me through dm here on smogon or on discord (loor_). Tryouts will be held during the first week of main stage signups in SV OU. When you reach out, please include a general introduction about yourself including results, builds and other information you may find relevant. If you are not a SV OU player, the tryout tour is not 100% necessary but I'd like a more extensive resume and you may be asked to play games in your main tier. SV OU competency is a asset I will be looking for, so even if its not your main tier it is still recommended you play the tryout tour. Once you reach out ill invite you to our discord, I'll have signups and more information there in the coming days. Thank you!
