I didn't get to listen to a recording firsthand when our choir received a score of this choral work. When our choir get to perform that work, I was deeply touched, and I ended up listening to other renditions of this work, which the one by Atlanta Master Chorale featuring Jamie Burton was the closest to what we've done in our Christmas engagements. The carol was written for one of the opera's greats: the late Jessye Norman.

Apparently, the Philippines celebrate Christmas as early as September, with malls playing (the original) Jose Mari Chan's "Christmas in Our Hearts", and it has become a running gag for all of us Filipinos. When I saw Pentatonix, of all vocal groups, doing a rendition of this Christmas classic, I was really excited to hear it, and with Lea Salonga (who happened to be Jose Mari Chan's candidate for that song's rendition) being part of the music is icing on the cake.
