The meanest and most sadistic strategies ever with Encore

Now, in this topic, I want you all to discuss what the meanest and most sadistic strategies with Encore in the D/P generation are. Encore is a move that forces your opponent to repeat their move for 4-8 turns, which is friggin insane. I'll give you what I think.

This list is not in any particular order:

1) Encoring a stat-up and switching over to Bibarel - This is extremely mean, which is why I like it. If Bibarel has the Unaware ability, the opponent is essentially forced to switch out, or get Super Fanged -> attacked to death. Or it'll also just get put to sleep with Yawn. If they switch out, whatever switches in gets 50% stripped off their health from the incoming Super Fang, and even moreso from other things like Stealth Rock/Spikes/Sandstorm.

2) Encoring a support move/stat-upper/immunity and switching over to a Perishtrapper - I haven't actually used this one before, but it sounds extremely fun and evil to use since the opponent will be completely screwed. If they switch, whatever just switched in will get Mean Looked or Perish Songed depending on what the user used first, most likely Mean Look. Perish Song will force ANOTHER switch, or if you used Mean Look, they're trapped, and you can just Perish Song them. This does sound fun, I might try it out sometime.

3) Encoring a support/stat-up/immunity and switching over to a Trap - A Trap referring to Dugtrio/Trapinch/Magnezone/Probopass, most likely Dugtrio for all-purpose trapping. This is just pure evil, but I like it, since it basically guarantees a kill unless the opponent has U-Turn/Shed Shell/Baton Pass. This one is definitely the most evil of the 4 up here.

4) Encoring a support/stat-up/immunity and switching over to something that can destroy things with Focus Punch - This is probably the least threatening out of the 4 that I have, but it's still extremely powerful, especially with STAB. The opponent is going to receive huge damage no matter what they do, switching out, or staying in. Of course you can predict the ghosts coming in though. This one isn't as evil since it doesn't basically guarantee kills, but can still be devastating.

Alrighty, so discuss some more evil strategies with Encore, since this move, IMO, is really gamebreaking. Especially with Stealth Rock/Spikes on your team.

I have a question concerning Encore... Here is the scenario:
*Turn 1*
You switch to Smeargle with Encore.
They Curse (Or something) on the switch.
*Turn 2*
You use Encore before they use a move.

Now, do they use the move they selected or do they use Curse again?

As for strategies, I would love to catch a Blissey CMing and passing to Dugtrio. That would be fun.

Oh, if you Encore before they make a move, they use the most recent move that was already used.

If you switch to Smeargle as they Curse, then you Encore them again before they can make another move selection, they're using Curse again for many...many turns.

Lol, I always use my Raichu to Encore Pokes. I switch in on set-ups and support moves (Like Stealth Rock, and Spikes), Encore and set up, and punish the switch-in. Then, proceed in sweeping the rest of the team.

Honestly, it's kind of moot, cause after I get Encored doing something pointless (ex: extra Stealth Rock), then I'd probably go to something else most likely to counter the current Poke Encoring. At that point, it doesn't really give you any real advantage unless you got lucky on what they switched in next.

Encore pretty much just gives a free switch-in most of the time. The only effective time it could be used is with Mean Look / Spider Web.

Jumpluff is such a kickass encorer.

Encore an EQ/stat up, then set up sub, then Leech seed all over the place. I used to win so many games doing that.

Still, it forces a switch, into (probably) a Stealth Rock, and then you can always use something that works on most things (aka Super Fang <- Bologo's tactic).

Encore a support/stat upper and then countering with your own stat upper (like Alakazam). Jumpluff also makes an evil Encore user, spreading the love with Leech Seed and Sleep Powder.

Encore + Stat Up on Opponent + something with Psych Up on your end.

Psych Up right before that last (or second to last so you still have a move equivalent) stat-up and proceed to return fire with whatever they were ABOUT to try to do to you.

Not that evil, but very very effective.

I always liked the ol' Encore Earthquake/Grass Knot/Megahorn and switch to BellyZard technique. Not as effective as it sounds, but we all love setting up Bellyzard.

i dont understand how encore works with EQ. I haven't used Encore before btw...

If you lets say you're using Raichu to Encore an EQ. First you use encore, expecting the enemy to EQ, and when the enemy finally does so, EQ hits your Raichu SE and Raichu faints. So whats the point in that? And if Raichu were to be slower, the EQ KOs Raichu even before Raichu pulls off the Encore.

So how does it work??

Turn 1:
You switched in *fast encorer*
Opponent used *stat up*

Turn 2:
You used Encore
Opponent was forced to use *stat up* again

Turn 3:
Opponent switches
You get a free turn!

Clefable can make use of the rare Encore + Snatch combo. Encore a stat-up move, then Snatch it away the next turn. If that wasn't enough, Clefable can also learn Focus Punch, which will hammer whatever comes in if they switch. Or alternatively, she can use Belly Drum on the turn that they switch instead of Focus Punch. It'll work especially well if she Snatches an Agility or Dragon Dance. Or she can simply Belly Drum after the Encore and forego Snatch entirely.

Hm... I'm giving myself some interesting ideas now...

Edit: Hey, Mr. Mime gets Encore, Snatch, and Baton Pass! And he's pretty fast too with 90 base Speed, making Encore easier to use. Encore a stat-up move, Snatch it, and Baton Pass it on the same turn they switch! If Umbreon Baton Passes a Mean Look to it beforehand, you can almost certainly get a lot more than just one stat-up.

Edit 2: Or, in place of Snatch, Mr. Mime can use Power Swap, since the most common stat-ups are offensive. It could work even better than Snatch, since they don't get to keep even a single one of their stat boosts.

I remember in RSE ubers, wherein I did not have an effective phazer to stop those stat-uppers. I used Jumpluff with encore/toxic/sub/leech seed. It also had around 700 speed under the sun . It was so much fun watching ubers dying to toxic/leech seed while they try to dragon dance/calm mind.

Mwhahahahaaa...I love encoreing with my wobbuffert in ubers.. just send it in on a rayquaza DDing (you need a lot of prediction to use encore efficientlly) encore, and get a free switch in to your deoxys-A...

A perfect example of wobbs uberness is that if they don't attck, they still pay.

Jumpluff was great in RSE, although it is admittedly less useful with many/most teams packing Ice Shard now.

The only Pokemon that are known to pack Ice Shard are Donphan, neither of which get much use(even though Mamoswine is a monster). And that is a completely sucky argument, by your logic, Salamence and Garchomp aren't too good at all.

And Jumpluff still does its job of annoying stuff very well. Sub/Seed/Encore/Protect/Sleep Powder wreaks havoc with Toxic Spikes in play.

And to the people asking how Encoring EQ with Raichu works, after he dies, you bring in something like Plotpassing Togekiss to abuse that free switch for a Pass or BellyZard to set up his Sub. Unlike other Encore strategies, its a guaranteed free turn for something you switch in.

And back in ADV I really like Encoring CMing Cunes or Kous with Zam, and snatching the CMs as they stayed in. I wish the Eeveelutions got Encore, Encore+Snatch+BP Umbreon would pretty much remove the whole notion of set up bait.
