[SET COMMENTS]
Tangela's colossal physical bulk when equipped with an Eviolite makes it a solid counter to top threats like Swords Dance Galarian Rapidash, Morpeko, and Gourgeist. Access to Knock Off makes it a capable team supporter that can cripple Pokemon that would otherwise try to take advantage of it, like Appletun and Unfezant. Leech Seed allows it to annoy otherwise decent switch-ins like Drifblim and Klinklang, making it less passive. Sleep Powder can be used instead to cripple these threats, though it makes Tangela slightly more passive. Synthesis in the last slot makes it easier for Tangela to last throughout the match, ensuring it can check foes like Throh and Fraxure throughout the match. Sludge Bomb can be used instead, giving Tangela a way to hit Appletun, Galarian Rapidash, and Lilligant quite hard, notably preventing the latter from setting up on Tangela if it has taken some prior damage. Worry Seed is also an option that prevents Pokemon like Throh and Type: Null from using Rest, denying their recovery, as well as crippling Dubwool. It can also remove abilities from Pokemon that rely on them in a pinch, like Drifblim's Unburden.
Tangela is a good fit on balanced teams that appreciate its ability to take hits from the likes of Throh and Boltund. Type: Null is a great teammate, being able to handle special attackers that threaten Tangela like Heatmor and Mr. Rime. It appreciates Tangela's ability to handle Fighting-types like Hitmonchan in return. Stunfisk is a great partner, handling Pokemon like Unfezant, Raboot, and Klinklang that Tangela can struggle with. It also sets Stealth Rock, which is helpful for the many switches Tangela forces. In return, Tangela can take some pressure off Stunfisk to switch into Pokemon like Swords Dance Galarian Rapidash, and it can also check Pokemon like Sandslash and Drednaw. Wallbreakers like Galarian Rapidash, Mr. Rime, and Lilligant appreciate Tangela's ability to switch into Pokemon that threaten to revenge kill them, like Alolan Dugtrio, Choice Scarf Drednaw, and Lycanroc-M. Throh is a great teammate for Tangela; despite their shared weakness to Pokemon like Unfezant, Throh can handle Knock Off from the likes of Mareanie and Pawniard with ease, making Tangela's job a lot easier. It also acts as a capable switch-in to certain physical attackers that Tangela has a shaky matchup against, like Klinklang and Alolan Dugtrio. Entry hazard removal is helpful too, as Tangela can struggle a lot with Spikes and Toxic Spikes. Hattrem's Magic Bounce is helpful for this, but other removers like Unfezant and Drifblim also pair well with Tangela for this reason.
