Metagame SV Doubles UU - Updated Sample Teams

Hey there's definitely potentially strong pokemon that aren't listed on the VR, they may just be underexplored! Generally speaking though, stuff like Cetitan and Hydrapple are not bad, they're just outclassed by Pokemon on the VR. For instance, Cetitan generally isn't as good as something like Baxcalibur, and Hydrapple has a lot of competition from other grass types like Brute Bonnet, Ogerpon-Cornerstone, and Wo-Chien. But maybe those pokemon do have a niche that just hasn't been proven yet!
I use normally cetitan with baxca in the same teams and the mon that really breaks the enemy mon is usually cetitan. In the hydra case I love using It in trick room and i have same succed with It in a sand team, so i just want to know is what people feel about that two or other poke that dont like for same reason for example i really dislike confey because of the hability giving in a +3 in priority in drainig kiss

If you ever played a Sneasler before it was in DUU, yeah, that was probably me and I do not apologize for the shenanigans I pulled back then. If you ever need some help with team building or testing, always ready and willing to help.

Now for a little explanation (I don't know how to do drop-downs help)
Since we lost Ting to the powers above, I've decided not to go with the objectively correct option in building a psyspam team and bring you a team revolving mainly around Moltres-g and Garchomp
Moltres is really strong and in my opinion underexplored Mon. I bring you what I think is the most potent set: Fiery Wrath and Air Slash are the most consistent and strongest attacks it gets while also making use of their respective STABs. Nasty Plot boosts said moves into making it one of the most threatening things you can have on the field, especially combined with Weakness policy. This bird can get out of control really quickly because of this. Tailwind is a really nice support option, but I can also see Protect being valid. I've EV'D Moltres to always live a Choice Specs Solar Power Heat Wave from a Charizard in the Sun (barring Crits). This soy sauce covered chicken is definitely a strong threat and in my eyes a solid high A-Tier.
Has there ever been a time where Garchomp was bad? Not mid, just bad? I don't think so, so here we have Cynthia's golden boy. Earthquake from a Garchomp is almost iconic in its damage output, plus it works really with the Blackbird discussed above. Side by side and set up these two will shred pretty much everything in front of them. Swords dance boosts EQs power even more , while Scale Shot also adds a greatly appreciated Speed boost. Loaded dice ensures that Gar also gets off some decent damage on top of that. And now for the final trick in its arsenal I introduce: Tera Fairy Tera Blast. Imagine getting hit by the physical equivalent of a Moonblast by a Garchomp. Yeah not the most pleasant experiences methinks. Tera Fairy also fulfills a defensive role here, making the land shark immune to any and all Dragon type attacks while having Fairy types as a neutrality. Steel and poison types that typically would be a problem still get KO'd by Earthquake so it's a net positive investment. Plus you now have the most intimidating fairy I've ever seen. EVs are pretty simple, just max Attack, Max Speed and a bit of special bulk. The usual good stuff, I think Garchomp belongs in A-Tier.
While I am too lazy to google what a Triage is I don't need Google to realize how broken the ability is. A pretty much undisputed Healing move with priority is insane to have in DUU. Add to that the fact that you can also pick off some weakened opponents through Giga Drain and Draining Kiss makes Comfry even more incredible. Well, unfortunately the offenses are stopped by Psychic terrain. But you know what isn't stopped? Floral Healing. You will pretty much always be able to heal your Partner by at least 50%, more if there's a Thwakey or Arboliva on the field. The incredible think about this thing is the fact that you don't need any EV investment to do all this, Triage takes care of everything. Thus, you can focus the EVs on bulk, Maxing out HP and Defense, or, in the case if my little flower veil, invest a bit in special attack and add Calm mind, making Comfey a bulky win condition. Unironically busted, broken and other words starting with "b" conveying a sense of strength. S-Tier, and I will die on this hill.
I just couldn't help myself. I just had to include one of my favourite Pokemon of all time: Paya the Sneasler is here to beat the snot out of you while laughing in your face. Through the use of my Patented Normal Gem Fake out™ Gimmick you immediately get fastest Pokemon in the tier(yes, faster than Regieleki) while also supporting the team a bit. Close Combat, Dire Claw and Acrobatics are really strong options to have, especially Acrobatics in combination with Tera Flying. You can drop any of the moves for Swords Dance tho, I used a similar set before. The Tera Type also serves a defensive role, making the weasel immune to Garchomp's Earthquakes. Sneasler is a pretty strong glass cannon, so the EV complete invest in Attack and Speed; investing in bulk seems kinda pointless to me. I may be biased here, but I think Sneasler is low S, high A-Tier.
This is not my dawg. I do not like Smeargle at all, but the Utility it brings is immaculate. First, the ability: While Mood is far more popular, I feel like own tempo is a better choice in hyper offense, since you can ignore Fake out without having to waste your Tera on the dog. Speaking of Fake Out, Barfs' moveset is, as is standard, purely supportive: Fake Out to help with setup, Decorate to boost your sweepers, Spiky Shield for longevity and punishing offensive plays and Spore to annoy the everloving hell out of your opponents. Max HP, max Speed, you know the drill by now. Smeargle has a lot of potential and is really underestimated right now. I'd put it in low A, high B-Tier for now.
Finally, we have one of the GOATs of Gen 6: Mence. This dragon is here for support, inspired by its surge in popularity during VGC Reg D. Intimidate and Breaking Swipe help shut down physical attackers while also dealing solid damage, Rock slide is generally funny, Tailwind as an alternative speed control option to Moltres and Protect/Roar. Protect is, again just generally helpful while Roar can get rid of set-up sweepers. I'll be honest, I don't know what the best EV spread for Salamence would be, but I currently have Max Speed, a good chunk of Attack and bit of bulk. This can definitely be refined. Salamence is B-Tier in my eyes, but it fits well with this team specifically
Now for some honorable mentions for the VR:
Lurantis => C-Tier
Those who know me know that Lurantis is my absolute favourite Pokemon of all time, so I had to include it here. While Ting-Lu was still with us, Lurantis was a real threat, being a potent Trick Room sweeper with contrary. I used a Superpower, Tera Stellar Tera Blast set with a Focus Sash, turning the Pseudo-Bug to a bulky attacker fairly quickly. But, since we lost the elk, the viability plummeted, but I still believe in my little plant and the niche it can fill.
Regieleki => Low A-Tier
Bolt beam 200 base speed. Why don't people use this thing more often? Really good speed control while still dealing solid damage
Porygon2 => S-Tier
Hoooooooooolyyy how is this thing in DUU? Eviolite Porygon2 is so bulky, Trace can be really good, download is insane, regular Tera Blast hits pretty hard, Bolt Beam coverage is, usual, busted and the Trick room support is crazy
Fezandipiti => A-Tier
Surprised I put this femboy on here? This is a really strong and annoying support mon thanks to toxic chain. Tailwind, icy wind, beat up, U-turn, dazzling gleam, I could go on... I'm surprised how this thing is flying under everyone's radar. I used it on a justified Cobalion team and it hard carried
Cobalion => B-Tier
Speaking of which, here we have a solid justified Mon. It's pretty ok, but the lack of attack is noticeable. The upside to using it is solely that it can't get poisoned, making it a good Fezandipiti Partner™. However, if you're in need of a justified Mon, max I interest you in:
Terrakion => A-Tier
Justified Beat up boosted Rock slide by a Terrakion should be studied by mathematicians because this thing is insane. It's decently fast and with Tera Steel you don't have to worry about Toxic Chain from the poison bird. I have several teams with these three that I absolutely adore, these guys are amazing, but not broken.
Talonflame => high-B-Tier
The final Mon I wanted to talk about is this flailing chicken. Gale wings is a really solid ability for setting up Tailwind and using priority Brave birds. The utility of Will-o-Wisp is also not to be underestimated. I used to run a hyper offensive core of Regieleki, Sneasler and Talonflame for leads about a year ago and it served me really well. I think it still has some sauce that people are just dropping for easier to use Mons like Murkrow that aren't as good in the long run.
And there you have it: my takes on the format as of now and a silly little sample. Glad to see the tier evolve and grow in player count and I can't wait for the seasonal.

Surprised I put this femboy on here? This is a really strong and annoying support mon thanks to toxic chain. Tailwind, icy wind, beat up, U-turn, dazzling gleam, I could go on... I'm surprised how this thing is flying under everyone's radar. I used it on a justified Cobalion team and it hard carried
Cobalion => B-Tier
Speaking of which, here we have a solid justified Mon. It's pretty ok, but the lack of attack is noticeable. The upside to using it is solely that it can't get poisoned, making it a good Fezandipiti Partner™. However, if you're in need of a justified Mon, max I interest you in:
Terrakion => A-Tier
Justified Beat up boosted Rock slide by a Terrakion should be studied by mathematicians because this thing is insane. It's decently fast and with Tera Steel you don't have to worry about Toxic Chain from the poison bird. I have several teams with these three that I absolutely adore, these guys are amazing, but not broken.
Talonflame => high-B-Tier
The final Mon I wanted to talk about is this flailing chicken. Gale wings is a really solid ability for setting up Tailwind and using priority Brave birds. The utility of Will-o-Wisp is also not to be underestimated. I used to run a hyper offensive core of Regieleki, Sneasler and Talonflame for leads about a year ago and it served me really well. I think it still has some sauce that people are just dropping for easier to use Mons like Murkrow that aren't as good in the long run.
And there you have it: my takes on the format as of now and a silly little sample. Glad to see the tier evolve and grow in player count and I can't wait for the seasonal.
