Pet Mod Super Smash OMs [Slate 4]

This isn't a resub I swear this is a "completely different" Pokemon
:sv/Dipplin: :Florges:
Pokémon: Dipplin (Florges)
OM of Origin: Cross Evolution
Stats: 104/100/131/132/136/63
Type: Grass/Dragon
Abilities: Flower Veil / Symbiosis
Aditional moves: All moves from Florges' moveset
Sample Set:
Dipplin @ Leftovers
Ability: Flower Veil
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Calm Mind
- Dragon Pulse
- Moonblast
- Giga Drain

Remember when I mentioned how Dipplin is a Pokemon that has solid stats but an underwhelming typing? And you know how Florges is a Pokemon that is solid defensively but has no useful abilities in Singles? Well, taking Florges' solid bulk, as well as its ability Flower Veil, and giving them to a Grass type that can actually use it, gives you a slow but bulky Special Attacker with a few exploitable weaknesses. Defensively it is still a Grass-type, but being immune to status, as well as blocking stat-lowering moves such as Parting Shot, should give this Pokemon a solid defensive niche.

:sv/Salamence:
Pokémon: Salamence
OM of Origin: Alphabet Cup
Stats: 95/135/80/110/80/100

Sample Set:
Salamence @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Moxie
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Bulk Up / Swords Dance
- Bitter Blade
- Brave Bird
- Scale Shot

Do you like Salamence but are underwhelmed by its performance as of late? Do you hate that Gen 9 Salamence has no Flying STAB? Well look no further, ABC gives Salamence access to better set-up moves, better STAB moves, and better coverage moves. If you really want to, it also gets access to Spikes, Stealth Rock/Stone Axe, and Sticky Web for crazy mixups. (Also one of the few ABC Pokemon to get STAB Beak Blast though you are unlikely to use it except on extremely bulky sets).

:sv/yanmega:
Pokémon: Yanmega
OM of Origin: Pokebilities
Stats: 86/76/86/116/56/95
Type: Bug/Flying
Abilities: Frisk + Speed Boost + Tinted Lens
Aditional moves: N/A
Sample Set:
Yanmega @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Tinted Lens
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Detect
- Air Slash
- Bug Buzz
- Psychic Noise/Shadow Ball/Giga Drain/U-Turn

Yanmega is a unique Pokemon thanks to its access to two solid abilities in Speed Boost and Tinted Lens. While both abilities are solid, this Pokemon in theory would be held back by its poor defensive typing and low bulk. But give it a chance to start speeding up and it is not to be under-estimated. This Pokemon also has access to Swords Dance for physical sets but those are less likely to be effective thanks to its much lower Attack stat.

:sv/Iron Valiant:
Pokémon: Iron Valiant
OM of Origin: Flipped
Stats: 116/60/120/90/130/74
Type: Fairy/Fighting
Abilities: Quark Drive
Aditional moves: N/A
Sample Set:
Iron Valiant @ Leftovers
Ability: Quark Drive
Tera Type: Fairy
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Calm Mind
- Moonblast
- Aura Sphere / Focus Blast
- Shadow Ball / Thunderbolt

Bulky Fairy? Bulky Fairy. 90 Special Attack is still useable thanks to Calm Mind, and it can survive several hits thanks to its good typing and defensive profile. Also has useful tool such as Thunder Wave + Hex, Taunt, Psyshock, and Grass Knot.

Clodsire is a great special wall, and with access to it's abilties, makes it a fantastic check to a vast majority of special attackers both currently in the tier and potential additions in the future. Water Absorb turns a weakness into a neat immunity, and makes it be an excellent blanket glue mon.

Physical wall extraordinaire. Kommo-o is a potent physical tank with 75/150/130 bulk + Dauntless Shield, making it even bulkier. Kommo-o can serve as either as an outright tank or as an offensive menace that can 1v1 alot of physical attackers.

Protean Palace currently gives Gen 8 Protean on top of any ability the user has. We could make a major offensive menace here, but I think exploring Protean being used defensively would have been much more interesting as an option.

Its going to run something similar to what it does normally. this gives it a good ground immunity, and some good stats to boot. With 88/102/145 in defenses its definitely something that can provide the meta with a strong ground immune, fight resist, and is a bulky fairy. With 111 attack or 100 sp. atk it can also potentially run a SD or CM set to some effectiveness which would allow it to be able to have some offensive contributions

Sooo, I looked at our additions and i feel pex might fit in, this gives us a removal option and a pretty consistent one, a pretty bulky physical wall, and the scary tauros-paldea can be scared by toxapex. With Defensive capabilities it can def help the meta not be offensive as hell. This can be fun esp with its pivot abilities and removing hazards. I doubt its broken with 350 numel, donphan, zapdos, skuntank being smth that slaps it with taunt + knock off

We dont have a psychic type... this gives us a good defensive psychic into the tier, with unaware it can also stop sweepers. it can also use stuff like intimidate, magic guard, sheer force, psychic surge to be a great mon that is very splashable

TS azelf with +20 in stats means it is quite a speedster and threatens a bit of the meta, i think it fairs fine in this meta with the skuntank, moltres-g, zapdos, flipped pult, and ts cramorant existing. This gives us some speed control that we really dont have any of and tauros-blaze blazing past everything isnt gonna be fun when it is just gonna be CB, so this gives something to outrun it

Sylvbray, as I will dub it, sees uses as a specially bulky mixed attacker and a switchin to the dangerous Tauros-Paldea-Blaze. With Fairy/Ground coverage and access to Wish Protect for some recovery, Sylvbray is able to switch in on the Fighting types of the metagame and threaten them out with either Body Slam or Double-Edge, depending on if you want to deal with recoil or not.

After Mega Evolving, Muk-Alola blanks any Fighting type hit and threatens with a Flying Body Slam. It also has pretty good bulk! Of course, you still have to Mega Evolve it to blank a Fighting move, but until then, you are immune to Psychic moves and resist both of Trevenant's stabs.

A bulky Water that can turn into a demonic setup sweeper at a moment's notice. Also comes with hazard control! How nice. Water/Ice coverage allows Squirtle to hit some of the most dangerous mons in the builder, and switches in on Tauros-Paldea-Blaze, too.

A devious wallbreaker with devious STABs. You're faster than Trevenant and threaten it out with Glacial Lance, let alone the ability to Knock Off their berry and deal significant damage at the same time. Also deals with a lot of the Flying types in the tier.

Veto and Commentary time!

Ok, so lets immediately address the elephant in the room right now - Tauros-Paldea-Blaze is insanely strong. Its a step above everything in the tier so far, it doesn't have too many checks neither offensively nor defensively and is clearly impacting how submissions are leaning. Power creep is something I am trying to ensure doesn't completely derail the metagame right now, so what I want to ensure is that we firmly establish our defensive makeup before we introduce any other major offensive force to rival Tauros. After the metagame can establish a firm defensive power level, then I can feel morr comfortable introducing more new options. Gramted, if enough solid checks already exist so far we can give that submission grace, likewise if the submission isn't itself too crazy (basically not another Tauros). That being said, we can move forward and quickly address what is what.

To a much lesser extent, idk please put some effort into the subs you make? Idk it makes the subs look less appealing and like you do not really care about the subs. One of the subs doesn't even have a listed sample set!

Kind of an insane glue mon that can slot basically any ability.
:bastiodon: I honestly just do not think this Pokémon is that good in the metagame. It has a negative matchup against most stuff in the tier due to either being too passive or most stuff can exploiting its multiple x4 weaknesses. I can't knock you for a bad sub, but I am just saying.

:blastoise: Honestly Blastoise feels like more of the same argument. You can't even lock down a set since what you suggested is a co.bination of two exttemely different things, and I don't think its particularly good at anything with the stuff you suggested. Like I said, not vetoing them, but I think its bad.

:Jirachi: I think the Pokémon is ok in a vacuum, but based on what the metagame was lookinh for in regards to Fairy types, I do not think its what the metagame needs atm. A Fighting resist weak to Fire is just not that attractive at this particular moment. Maybe after more things have fully settled on this can flesh out / support further threats.

:sandy-shocks: Unfortunately, I think this Pokémon is too strong for the metagame at the moment. It doesnt really have any defensive counterplay options it can't just rack up hazards or pivot out of. Everything gets absolutely nuked out of the sky. I think until we can a much more solid and diverse defensive backbone, this Pokémon just can't hang. Unfortunately until then this have to be vetoed.

Ah, Button Clicker Jones. I absolutely love Iron Boulder, and I figured this would be the best iteration of it. This deals with many of the Flying types currently in the metagame, but is noticably outsped by Jolly max speed Tauros-Paldea-Blaze before it can get hit with Psycho Cut.

Same issues regarding Sandy Shocks - its too strong for the tier at this very moment. It hits harder than a diamond and I do not think the metagame can currently handle having to deal with this and Tauros at the same time right now - frankly Boulder only has a single switchin that can be worn down other the course of the same. That being said, this Pokémon will currently have to be vetoed.

That being said, you guys have more or less 48 hours before submissions close. I do understand feeling the constraints of having most of your subs being targeted towards a single Pokémon atm, but Tauros is already just THAT dominating of a force right now and I would want that nip in the bud be addressed before more stuff be added.

Clodsire is a great special wall, and with access to it's abilties, makes it a fantastic check to a vast majority of special attackers both currently in the tier and potential additions in the future. Water Absorb turns a weakness into a neat immunity, and makes it be an excellent blanket glue mon.

Now after 3 slates, we have 17 individual Pokémon, and the start of a fledgling metagame. Thus, I expect that henceforth, submissions will be done and described with the context of existing threats. Also, sample sets and justifications for submissions will be mandatory going forward to reflect that, to ensure that we are placing care in our submissions.

Of course, submissions last for 1 week and you can only make a resub once. Have fun everyone!

I feel like this meta could use a couple of Ice types, and I know that Inverse isn't on the list of allowed metagames so I'm half-expecting this to get vetoed, but if not, here is the case for Inverse Avalugg being a fun and interesting addition to the meta. Avalugg is a 'Top' mon on the Inverse viability list since the four weaknesses and one resistance of its ice typing are flipped, so its only weakness is Ice. In this meta, it would notably serve as a check to Tauros-Paldea-Blaze by now resisting both of its STAB moves and having an inversely super-effective Avalanche. It also surprisingly keeps a couple of matchups that a non-inverse ice would win due to its access to body press, such as Hawlucha and Trev. It's another hazard removal mon, which (if you ignore how Clodsire, Numel, Azelf, and Donphan are like the only setters in the meta) is always nice to have available in the builder. Additionally, it's still an Avalugg, so you are stuck with a base 44 SpD stat and get blown over by a gust of wind.

Reaching a blistering 438 speed with either a SpA stat of 389 or a 319 hustle-boosted attack (478 btw), Delibird can serve as a high-risk high-reward breaker. On the physical side, its high-BP hustle-boosted ice attacks will be strong into a meta lacking an ice resist, provided it doesn't miss or run into Belibolt's Rocky Helmet. That's not an issue for special sets, which do trade some of the Hustle power for consistency. Freeze-dry notably shuts down Walking Wake, which is 4x weak to it. These stats look crazy on paper, but in practice, it's still a Delibird. Hustle Triple Axel might be hard to switch into, but that is dependent it landing each hit. Its special ice moves might also be difficult to switch into, but if it launches attacks into something it can't KO with STAB moves like Cresselia, it doesn't have any other options. Between that, its rather nice support movepool containing no setup moves, and its typing forcing it into boots, I think that this mon is exploitable enough to be strong, but not too crazy for this meta. Oh, and it's a fine suicide lead if needed.

- Iron Defense / Thunder Wave
- Body Press / Heavy Slam

Having another steel type and a rocker would be good for this meta, as the only steel currently is Zapdos, and there also isn't a Sketchmons rep yet. Giving Registeel a recovery move allows it to stick around longer and continue to set hazards up if Donphan or Cram defog a couple of times. Registeel is admittedly pretty awful into the current meta, with most mons having a way to wall IronPress by being ghost/flying or are super-effective into Regi, but steel-type rocker is still a notable niche missing in the meta, and Registeel can do so without crossing over another mon's niche (like heatran would for numel, a little).

Ability: Sharpness
Tera Type: Rock
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Stone Axe
- U-turn
- Close Combat
- Stone Edge / Night Slash

For my last sub, I wanted to submit a rock-type that worked as a simple choice user since there weren't any obvious ones already, and after trying for way too long to make a fusion of Kleavor that didn't have 150+ sharpness-boosted attack, I ended up with this. Kleavor's Stone Axe + U-turn offers Lycan-dusk some good utility for a choiced mon. A speed of 110 outspeeds +2 Numel in this meta, but leaves it outsped by mons like Cramorant somehow, Redbull, Azelf, and Hawlucha. Night Slash allows a 2HKO on Cress w/ choice band.

Scary ass EdgeQuake.

Hippowdon doubles as a weather setter and a breaker. Sand Stream obviously activates Sand Force, giving Hippowdon incredibly strong EQs and Stone Edges. Its bulk allows it to survive a hit from Redbull if pivoted in, and OHKO with Earthquake. Stone Edge is used against the myriad of Flying types in the tier and hits Cramorant and Moltres-Galar super effectively.

252+ Atk Sand Force Hippowdon Earthquake vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Tauros-Paldea-Blaze: 324-384 (111.3 - 131.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252+ Atk Choice Band Tauros-Paldea-Blaze Close Combat vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Hippowdon: 295-348 (70.2 - 82.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

It also sets Rocks and has recovery.

This Mon struggles with the Ground-immune Mons that are neutral to Stone Edge, and is also forced out by Trevenant and Cramorant.

With access to a myriad of abilities, including one that gives an immunity to Ground, Copperajah serves as a Steel type wallbreaker. While it has a very glaring weakness to Redbull, it can deal heavy damage with Tough Claws Heavy Slam, and has a lot of coverage options, including CC, Heat Crash, Play Rough, Knock Off, Shadow Claw, and even the option to Pivot with U-Turn. It can also boost with Swords Dance or Coil.

With a blistering speed of 155, Ting-Lu functions very well as a suicide lead. Access to both Spikes and Rocks as well as Taunt lets you shut down any other leads looking to set hazards, and your Special Attack allows you to threaten Azelf, Redbull, and Trevenant, three of the most threatening mons in the tier. However, your frankly pitiful bulk, especially physically, means you can't really switch in to anything except an Electric or Psychic attack.

Currently this OM only has two Fire types (350 Numel and Tier Shift Tauros) and one Steel type (Bonus Type Zapdos). So I thought it would be worth trying to correct that. Fire/Steel is a typing usually unique to Heatran, so its presence here should provide some good utility. Defensive sets would have access to moves like Will-O-Wisp and Clear Smog, and offensive sets would benefit from Corviknight's access to Nasty Plot. No matter which way you use it, it should prove effective against a good amount of the tier, though it would need to be weary of the strong Fighting- and Ground- types that are present. Due to the way its stats are balanced it should have a number of diverse sets available to it, as seen above.

This meta needs an Ice-type. When looking at Ice-types that have gotten the short end of the stick, none stick out more than Rotom-Frost. Only having access to Blizzard as an Ice STAB move resulted in it being at the bottom of the barrel. Now with access to Ice Beam, Freeze Dry, and Parabolic Charge, this strong STAB Bolt-Beamer should do solid things.

Taking a look again at adding Ice types, Mamoswine is one of the best. Getting access to strong STAB in Mountain Gale, as well as utility in Recover and Rapid Spin, this Mammoth should prove to be a solid offensive threat.

Another type that has yet to be added to the tier: Rock. Iron Thorns has a terrible matchup into Ground types, now mediated by the bulk and Earth Eater provided by Orthworm. Despite the Ground immunity, it still has a poor matchup into the Grass and Fighting types in the tier, so its typing should hopefully balance out as a result.

Ability: Protosynthesis
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Adamant Nature
- First Impression
- Earthquake / Flare Blitz
- Heavy Slam
- Morning Sun / Leech Life

Note that the above set may not be the most optimal one, but it has a couple benefits that are worth addressing. Bug was the last type that needed a representative and this is my attempt to bring one forward. Firstly, Filter on a Bug/Steel type means that your one weakness is now a 0.75 weakness, which is solid. Pairing that with active healing in Morning Sun, or healing through damage in Leech Life, should work nicely. Sadly the only Steel-type move the Pokemon gets is Heavy Slam, but the weight from Aggronite can use that well. Finally, a STAB First Impression that should help scare off any Azelf that would otherwise outspeed and do massive damage.

EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Body Slam
- Thunder Wave
- Knock Off
- Stealth Rock
Justification: I chose D egde for the strong dark stab on offensive sets while rock body slam allows it to be a huge threat with defensive sets and allows it to have body slam + knock off for the defensive sets. Double edge means that while knock off is used you can use d-edge to tag on huge damage on foes

:sm/heatran:
Pokemon: Heatran (Inh From Clefable)
OM of origin: Inh
Stats: Same
Type: Same
Abilites: Cute Charm / Magic Guard / Unnerve
Additional moves: + Whatever Clefable has
Sample set:
Heatran @ Leftovers
Ability: Magic Guard / Unaware
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 212 SpD / 40 Spe or A More Phys Def Spread
Tera Type: Grass
Calm Nature
- Flamethrower / Fire Blast
- Thunderbolt / Thunder
- Moonlight / Wish
- Stealth Rock / Knock Off / Encore / Thunder Wave / Wish / Protect

Heatran @ Leftovers / Life Orb
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Tera Type: Grass
Timid / Modest Nature
- Fire Blast / Flamethrower
- Ice Beam / Thunderbolt
- Moonlight
- Thunderbolt / Calm Mind
Justification: With heatran you have a fat steel in the tier alongside zapdos, with heatran you can generate momentum with its attacks, knock off, or even be a setup sweeper with CM. Sure it seems powerful but we have powerful mons like thick fat donphan, walking wake, unaware clodsire, AAA cress, cramorant, 350 cup numel, and others still do well. While in return this mon deals with pult, trev, valiant (you can heavy slam its ass), zapdos, cress, etc. I chose clef for the Inh as with its abilities its a good Inh for heatran, with fire / ice / electric coverage on off sets and recovery on defensive sets it can posses quite a threat

Just gonna do a quick double post here to remind folks about certain OMs because I see some misunderstandings.

First of all, Inverse is not currently one of the listed OMs that this Pet Mod allows subs for (as interesting as that would be for some poorer defensive types). I imagine just in the context of this meta that this would be a lot harder to code around. (What would that impact? Offensive and Defensive? Just defensive? Would that break the entire type chart for just one Pokemon?)

Additionally, please go visit the Other Metas in the forums to get clarifications on how the OMs work. For example, Cross Evolution completely replaces the Pokemon's ability, but combines the moveset. On the other hand, Inheritance fully replaces both the movepool and ability. And bridging that we have Frantic Fusions, which makes no movepool changes and gives you access to either Pokemon's abilities. (And of course metas like Convergence/STAB/Sketch which adds to what the Pokemon already knows.)

In conclusion, please make sure you do your research before making your subs, I imagine that would make the mods' jobs a lot easier!

This is not a call-out post but it can become one if there remains anyone who does not correct their subs based on the above criteria.

Ability: Speed Boost
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
IVs: 0 Atk
Modest Nature
- Bug Buzz
- Aeroblast
- Roost / Silk Trap
- Tail Glow

Yanmega is a fast paced set up sweeper thanks to Tail Glow + Speed Boost allowing it to emclesn up late game. Tinted Lens is a solid choice for wallbreaking defensive threats as well. It has trouble facing Steel types like Zapdos and flying types like Moltres-Galar.

EVs: 252 SpA / 4 Atk / 252 Spe
Tera Type: Water
Hasty Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Dark Pulse
- Water Shuriken
- Sucker Punch

Greninja might be slow, but it's access to multiple forms of priority backed by Adaptability STAB makes it a strong wallbreaker that can potentially take down Azelf and Tauros-Paldea-Blaze while breaking stuff slower. This also finally ensures a good offensive Cress check is present.

Almost Any Ability put's Mamoswine's wallbreaking capacities to another level. Sword of Ruin is a blanket buff to all of its attacks and makes it a very potent threat versus the likes of Trev and Dragapult, while Technician boosts specifically its most popular Ice STAB options in Icicle Spear and Ice Shard, cleaving through anything without an Ice resist.
