well o boi, theres a reason spoilers are in the title now ig, this is a big one.
so the premise is that some french dude working as a graphic designer at a manufacturing firm (which was found out cuz he left his name on his post) had murals of the smash roster. he posted the pictures of the smash mural onto his snapchat along with other things, including an upcoming grinch movie, and whats interesting about this mural is that it has unrevealed characters in it. in total there are 7 characters; 2 clones in ken and shadow, and 5 newcomers in isaac, chorus kids, mach rider, geno, and banjo-kazooie. not only that they also had original renders nowhere found on the internet, same thing for the promotional art of the grinch movie, there was art nowhere to be found on the internet. so if this leak was fake that means he'd have to draw the renders of unrevealed characters, move the existing characters on the roster to make space for them, then have the mind to think of making some promotional grinch art. while its not confirmed this is fake, its very likely that he didn't spend time making a bunch of renders and instead just posted the smash mural on site, and instead that this is real and what we're gonna get as our roster.
now that we got our alleged final characters, im gonna say, im really happy with these inclusions, i was already satisfied with our roster since we got ridley krool and simon, but this only adds on to the delicious cake that is smash5. all of these (bar mach rider) have been highly requested characters so they eventually made it onto my want list. as for mach rider, im really intrigued, hes excitebiker with a gun which im a fan of, i hope he uses his bike for almost all his moves cuz that be really cool to play as. these five characters can also potentially come with their own stage, which bumps it up to 108 just like the corocoro leak earlier. although theres no bandana dee or funky kong, im still glad that this is gonna be our roster, just wish these didnt get leaked though.

Firmly in the real camp for the leak, it looks way too elaborate to be fake. If not, it's the absolute ruse of the century and the person behind all this has done some really impressive work.

I understand that showing the new echoes is possible, but I think revealing 5 whole characters is a bit unreasonable. Even assuming that we will get a normal Nintendo Direct for the quarter. They only ever show off one character here, meaning that the Smash Direct will have to do 2 echoes and 4 brand new character announcments in 40 minutes. While this is longer than the previous smash direct by a noticable amount, I still don't feel it will be done.

Honestly, getting tricked into believing grinch leak and having so many more characters is exactly the grinch-iest thing, and I expect christmas to be ruined for many this year.
But I will play Pirahna Plant for the people. (I actually died from laughter when it was confirmed as a fighter)

if there's one thing to take away from this direct is that to always do your taxes like kirby, or else you will get vaporized by whatever that was.
o yea and i was really fucking wrong about grinch leak lmfao, that has to be the one of the best fakes ever made, arguably has more effort put into it than the rayman leak a couple years ago, half the community fell on it especially when "growing evidence" would surface every day supporting it. im not really salty that its fake, it still means banjo, rhythm heaven character and potentially geno can get in, but rip isaac, they did them dirty. with grinch leak out and verge in, i dont mind incineroar but i just wish it was another pokemon, preferably sceptile but at least he looks really fun. but then again who cares about any other character when you can play as a fucking piranha plant, goddamn i am not playing any other character once he drops holy fuck he better be top tier.
