Sunflora: 1014 Special Attack after one turn

Hello everyone. I was looking into a trick room-sun doubles team. I investigated Sunflora and thought I'd share my results:

Sunflora lvl 100: 354HP/185Atk/147Def/338SAtk/206SDef/58Spe
Quiet / Solar Power / Focus Sash
Moves: Growth / Solar Beam / Earth Power / Sludge Bomb (Potentially Hidden Power Fire)

The basic idea behind making Sunflora viable and powerful is a good set up. A team with trick room and sun established is a very niche team, but if that is what you want to do then Sunflora can aid it a lot.

The abysmally slow base speed of 30 means than Sunflora will outspend 95% of all Pokémon in trick room set ups. Add to that it's decent base SAtk of 105, maxed out and multiplicatively scaled up by the Solar Power ability. Now, note that it can learn growth, which rises SAtck two stages in a single turn, in the sun.

So, once sun and trick room are up, you can get your special attack stat up to 1014 (@ lvl 100) after a single turn. Good luck surviving that, other team. Turn two, sun flora can utilize the sun again for an instant solar beam, or use another coverage move. Note that sun makes hidden power fire +50% in base power.

We should also note that Sunflora is easy to kill. Mega Kangaskhan and other multi-hit pokémon are a major scare. Focus sash defends against Sunflora dying immediately though.

But, if Sunflora can get a few hits in, they're all going to pack a huge punch.

Hope my ideas come in handy. I love how handy Smogon is!

Trying to get both sun and Trick Room up at the same time, and for a Pokemon with no spread coverage and non-existent physical bulk in a metagame where Mega Kangaskhan is the best Pokemon, is not worth it in any competitive environment.

This isn't even to mention that Sunflora would need to not be on the field at the time that both sun and Trick Room are being set up since it's only going to be able to Protect for one turn reliably, and if Trick Room is set up first then it can't use Solar Beam, and if sun is set up first then it's going to be outsped by the opponent and probably KOed. Especially considering the only teammate that could conceivably set up both Trick Room and sun on the same moveset is Cresselia, and Cress has no means of redirection to protect Sunflora.

And the fact you're suggesting Focus Sash but also Solar Power shows that you probably haven't actually tried this in a competitive environment.

In the future, we only accept tried and true movesets and analyses in C&C. Take some time to read the guides and rules we have set up here before posting again. Welcome to Smogon!
