Shiny Milotic event Pokemon in Japan.

Ooh pretty a Cherish Ball shiny Milotic. I wonder if they're all male like that one is.
I'd be more excited I guess if I hadn't already hatched my own shiny female Feebas :|

There are two gifts, games, card games either participating in the event both Reasonable!
※ After Battle, a gift given to players participating.
 
I can't read Japanese, but by looking at the attack type and PP as well as attempting to match the kana, I think the Milotic comes with Rain Dance, Recover, Hydro Pump, and Icy Wind. I can't pin down the held item. (EDIT: Flame Orb?)

Nothing incredibly special aside from the shininess unless the item's really good, but it saves a Move Tutor use with Icy Wind, I guess...

Also Cherish Ball. But yeah it's mostly for event collectors.

EDIT: Wait, that's the ball it comes in. I'm trying to find out the item it's holding.

Not like I'm any good at the TCG anymore, but is there any chance this'll hit the US side of Worlds?
 
I hope that it's possible to make a wondercard of this. :D That'd be sweet! That way even if people couldn't win it, they could get it.(presuming the winners are nice enough to do that...)
 
If it's a wonder card, we can eventually get it soon

You're right on spot about the moves.
The item it's holding is かえんだま, the Flame Orb.

I was clinging to the hope that the item was one of those still-unobtainable berries, but the odds of that now are minuscule.

Well, I suppose it's for the better with only 47 of them out there...

Yay! Finding the characters and the translation for the item were quite tricky, especially since I don't know a lick of Japanese. :-P
 
Red gyarados isn't able to battle on wifi. ;_; I loved my red gyarados... that was my only self-leveled 100 pokemon ever lol. If only G/C/S was remade...anyhow, what he means is for wifi usage.
 
Who knows, maybe they'll end up using this to patch Platinum. Seems like kind of coming out of nowhere, or not?

It's not like they haven't done it before. Besides, in-game Milotics are hard to obtain as it is.

If I recall correctly, the game mechanics in GSC that determined whether a pokemon was shiny or not was a few certain combinations of its IVs (in order to allow trading compatibility with Red, Blue, and Yellow), the average of which never was higher than 20-21. That pretty much meant the red gyarados' IV range was always going to turn out shitty. :(

Reading through it, the event will be available to all participants after competition. Requirements:

-Need Nintendo DS Lite (wow, only lite?)
-Need Pokemon Platinum (haha D/P)
-Only Japanese Pokemon Platinum can pick it up (lol only Japan has this game?)
-You need to have the pokedex to pick it up
-It's a present for participants
-Only 1 Miltotic per participant

If it's mystery gift, we'll definitely be able to get it. If they are being this specific on the rules though, maybe it'll work differently. They had a much more "let's whore it out" attitute at the shaymin event. The guy who showed me how to pick shaymin up didn't even notice I saved inside the friendly shop and then turned my DS off. xD

IVs were out of 16 back then not 32 (0-31) and I think shinies had 11 or 12 all across the board.
 
A Pokémon's status as a shiny Pokémon will be determined based on specific values that its IVs take. A Pokémon will be shiny if its IVs are the following:
Attack: 2, 3, 6, 7, 10, 11, 14, or 15
Defense: 10
Speed: 10
Special: 10
HP: 0 or 8
If the IV for Attack is 2, 6, 10, or 14, the IV for HP is 0, while if it is 3, 7, 11, or 15, the IV for HP is 8. All other IVs are the same for each and every shiny Pokémon: 10.
Due to this constricted set of IV values for a shiny Pokémon, any shiny Pokémon that knowns Hidden Power in Generation II will use it as a Grass-type or Dragon-type move.

Anyway this is pretty cool I guess, since this is pretty much the first Event Shiny, correct?

They're pretty strict on this stuff though, Japanese only games? That's..


Well, anyway, for some reason I'm just not too enthused about this. They made shinies easier to get with the Radar (which I was pissed about at first), and now they're handing them out, possible one of the most rare ones of all too.

They better freakin' give us something, but I doubt it. This seems like one of those Japanese events that we could only dream about. And I can't help but think again about the people who don't get any events at all....

Also chiming in on the veiled hatred/jealousy of the Japanese....
 
Movie Shaymin was Japan-exclusive too, and while at the theatre, I was not able to pick up the mystery gift with my english Diamond version (so I had to pick it up with R4). So, it's still possible we will be able to use wondercard to get this milotic too.

edit: also, if you want to bitch about events (or lack of), talk to the Europeans or Canadians, and you'll get an ear full about us Americans. Japan is undeniably the homeland of pokemon-- can you really blame that events come out there and the games are Japanese first?

Besides, remember that we smogonites are a tiny fraction of American fans, and even if you put all the American fans together it's nothing compared to how big pokemon is in Japan.

In America, even amongst the kids pokemon is largely "a past fade," but in Japan, it's like the never-dying Sesame Street-- just with way more merchandise, movies and money involved. lol

edit: BTW though, this is the World Championships right? Won't there be some Americans there? We need to ship them copies of Pokemon Platinum JPN so they can pick up Miltotic for us. xD
