Scovillain was a central piece to the sun teams that dominated NU for one main reason: it's a Fire-type Pokemon with Chlorophyll. This absurd combination, especially when you factor in Terastallization, made it both incredibly strong and super fast under sun, establishing it as the premier wallbreaker on such teams. Tera Fire Overheat's damage potential under sun was insane, with it OHKOing some of NU's bulkiest Pokemon such as Alolan Muk and Slowbro after Stealth Rock damage, and its boosted Flamethrower was similarly great at running through teams. Additionally, Scovillain could smack certain Fire-resistant foes like Diancie, Flygon, and Vaporeon with Solar Beam, which further complicated dealing with it. Scovillain's offensive profile being so dominant meant your best bet at handling it was offensively, like with Accelerock Lycanroc-D, Extreme Speed Lucario, and First Impression Flygon. Tanks such as Dragalge, Assault Vest Tera Dragon Magnezone, and Incineroar were also some of your best defensive options to slow down the villainous pepper. So, sun teams frequently worked to overload these answers with other sun sweepers like Venusaur, Shiftry, and Lilligant. Similarly, Scovillain has some of the worst bulk imaginable, so pivot support like Memento Ninetales, Eject Button Slowbro, and Flip Turn Swampert helped get it onto the field more safely.
