SPOILERS! Scarlet & Violet Leaks Thread - Data/Mechanics

I'd rather BM Ursaluna were a legendary than another Battle Bond Greninja. They should not set a precedent or it will make it more difficult to nuke BB in the future.
Well it wont be a BB style, a lot of the context is just...different.

BB Greninja was locked to a demo and an anime tie in probably didn't help
BM Ursaluna is just available normally (even if it winds up being a one-off) and, presumably, not a tie in to anything.

Talking about the discussion of Blood Moon Ursaluna's type, I agree with the idea it will keep the normal type due to the signature ability having the effects of scrappy. If it is case that the ground type would be replaced, it would probably be unconventional when it come to Pokemon type conventions, considering that the mud which would be associated with ground types is still present in it's design and referred to in it's pokedex entry (the pokedex entry is in the spoiler of the post below).
Seems like someone's leaking the Home update again?

If dex entrie's reference to the mud being as hard as iron is referring to Ursaluna being a steel type, that would get rid of this oddness. But as pointed out by other posters:

Don't really see the eviddence /Steel beyond the dex entry, which as another user has already pointed out is pretty meaningless as a hint because Avalugg's entry also refers to it being as hard as steel. Also feel like a Steel typing would massively discount the haunted/werebear elements it that IMO feel much more in line with /Dark or even /Ghost.
Also wanna say, idt "its mud is as hard as iron" necessarily means Steel type - This has been used time and time again to say a Pokémon is bulky. Has happened with mons like Gigalith or Avalugg before. Plus, I really don't think "Blood Moon", nor its description, sound anything Steel-like

Not entirely sure what I'd guess the type to be though. Would be pretty funny if it was Fairy like 80% of the moon-related things
This doesn't necessarily correlate to it having the steel type. This oddity with Blood Moon Ursaluna if the ground type was removed may not mean much, but I wonder if there a possibility of Blood Moon Ursaluna having the same type as Ursaluna, being differentiated from Ursaluna by other means like stats, movepool and abilities, as speculated by other posters.

All of them.

My prediction is that getting Blood Moon Ursaluna will work like getting Dusk Form Lycanroc does - you get a special Ursaring with a different Ability from normal (like Own Tempo Rockruff) and only that Ursaring can evolve into Blood Moon Ursaluna.

Also even though it looks believable, Steel/Ground is pretty sus. Why would they give it Scrappy on Steroids without actually having Normal or Fighting stab?

As of now, Scrappy is an ability only seen on pokemon that have one or both these stabs. I'm honestly assuming it's Normal + X (which would inherit the Normal type from Ursaring and I find it the most believable) or Fighting/Ground.
Honestly I'd not be surprised if it's still Normal/Ground. Pokemon that completely change type keeping none of their stabs when evolving are extremely rare, even when it comes to regional forms.

The post is from Centro though, they've been know to just share their interpretations of Khu's words as facts. I don't dismiss the possibility of all forms being Ghost, but do take the info with a grain of salt because it's just Centro's take rather than a proper source leaking info
To add onto this, a gentle reminder that Centro has also just blatantly taken things discussed here in this very thread and shaved away speculation to reshare as fact. They’ve even like parroted some jokes users have made here. It’s a weird little feedback loop. Make sure you have a sturdier source for this stuff than just them!

TTBT, one of the things I'm curious about is whether Ninetales finally gets a second standard ability. Even if, of course, hidden is best for both Ninetales.

Still bummed that Sneasler got a second ability for SV, while Weavile has been stuck with just Pressure for 17 years, despite Sneasel having had 2 abilities since those were a thing.

And, of course, new TMs and the like, hoping Scorching Sands is back.
This is a great prompt. The release of new abilities for Pokemon is exciting, and the change of some Pokémon’s abilities when implemented into SV creates even more possibility for returning Pokemon.

I wonder what ability they'd get? I think maybe cursed body. Given their propensity for curses. Alternatively a unique ability with the effects of the move Grudge.

One thing to keep in mind when discussing the typings for Ogerpon is its new move:

- Ivy Cudgel
The user strikes with an ivy-wrapped cudgel. This move's type changes depending on the mask worn by the user, and it has a heightened chance of landing a critical hit.

While it's not proof of anything, the fact that it has ivy on its name means that it's likely part of the mon and not that it gains the Grass-type when wearing one particular mask (and be a worse Flower Trick since it only crits sometimes). Which is kinda sad because no Ghost/Rock but yay new Grass/Water after two decades!

And Grass/Rock. The only other Rock/Grass type is the Lileep line from the same generation.

yeah i wouldnt hold my breath if i were you.

Honestly i’m just wondering why Ogerpon wasn’t fairy/grass rather than ghost/grass. Fairies are a lot more on that sort of trickster archetype.

They’re alternate forms that change depending on which mask Ogerpon is wearing. It seems probable that the masks themselves will be either held items or key items. That said, the type combos aren’t confirmed yet.
The Masks can't be held items because there's no "proper" maskless ogrepon for the game to default to; all the renders have a mask.

So probably a key item (like a "mask box") or a set of key items you can use. Also means those people not content with just a living dex and want every "permanent" form, will have to collect 4 Ogrepon. RIP

Also is Blood moon for the first DLC?

Yes.

Right right, I thought I remembered you making that point earlier in the thread, but I couldn’t recall the specifics so I just hedged it, lol.

Maybe since this is like the Isle of Armor equivalent (accessible as soon as you start the Treasure Hunt), the questline for Ogerpon will be relatively easy to breeze through? Funny enough, I’m having to do that right now in Sword so I can get an extra Kubfu (I want those scrolls marked as obtained in my inventory list in Scarlet). It’s not too daunting.

(At the very least, it’s light years better than when I had to speedrun ORAS all the way through the Delta Episode three extra times for the Deoxys Formes…)

Yeah getting more Kubfu isn't too bad, compared to certain other legends. Like the Crown Tundra folks....was lucky I had to beat the entire game again anyway so I had a spare Zacian for trade fodder for Zamazenta (& then they did the shiny wolves event anyway....)

Hard to really gauge these DLCs though. They seem more....ambitious, comparatively. Probably since they have a better workflow and more experience with the concepts.
Maybe we'll be able to beat up Ogrepon, but have to come back in the post game to wrap it up.

The bright spot of being in this series for so long is I'm pretty sure if I dug through all my games, I'd have 3 distinct Deoxys (+ the one currently in Home) I could send forward if I felt the desire.

So looking through this, I'm going to go down the list and name each and every one of these, and going off this, such list will effectively be the Kitakami Pokedex. In bold are mons already in SV, in italic are returning old Pokemon, and in underline are newly introduced Pokemon.

I don't think its a good idea to trust a random 4chan post that has nothing backing it up. Anyone coulda just logged in and typed out those stats in like 5 minutes. Without the post having anything to give it credibility, I'd heavily advise against trusting it

Not to mention the Loyal Three having 600 bst instead of 580 as well as having HAs - Minor legendaries pretty consistently have 580 bst as of late and (aside from Enamorus) all recent legendaries have a single ability too. Not to mention they haven't made a new Shadow Tag mon in over a decade so idt monke having it is believable

Ogerpon also has 665 bst instead of 670 for some reason
