How it works

Every 7 days or so, I will post a core that is commonly used in the current meta. The goal is to suggest a way to counter the core with one or 2 pokemon. You must then explain how your counter(s) will eliminate the core regardless of what happens (bar crits, misses and other hax forms (keep stuff reliable though, zap cannon or multiple focus blasts are very likely not to hit). This means if your counter does not counter the worst possible scenario, it is not valid. Let it be very clear that a counter must be able to come in on both pokemon of the core! For example, Sceptile is not a counter to Moltres as it can't come in on all of its moves, only 1HKO moltres before moltres can 1HKO back with HP Rock.

You must include calcs in your post !

Points will be awarded each round and the user with the most points at the time I decide to stop this will be the winner. Leaderboard will be shown in the op.

-post a 1 pokemon counter = 2 points
-prove another user his counter does not counter the core = 1 point

You can only post 1 set of counter(s) per core, even if your core has been proven wrong! (Don't modify your post after being proved wrong, we'll catch you). You can prove other people wrong multiple times per round. A same pokemon cannot be used by two users! First one to post a pokemon is the only one to have the rights to use it during that round. However, if you don't have time to post now, you can reserve a maximum of 2 pokemon per round by posting so before they have been used.

Klinklang has no trouble switching into either of the presented Pokemon (it only takes real damage from Walrein's Super Fang, and because of the mechanics of the move it'll only cut Klinklang's current Hp in half at most). Once Klinklang has switched in, it can start setting up repeated Shift Gears, using the Restalk combo to outstall Walrein's Super Fang and absorb Uxie's yawn. After Klinklang has accumulated enough boosts, it can simply use Gear Grind to break Walrein's Substitute and hit it from behind the sub, messing up the subtect strategy, then eventually KO Uxie as well while its completely helpless to damage Klinklang in return.

Starting out with Walrein: Set up Shell Smash on turn 1. If Walrein uses a Substitute, it is going to get Rock Blasted - Rock Blast always breaks its sub. If it uses Toxic or Super Fang at all to speed up the process, the Lum Berry screws it over for the poison, but even without the berry (assuming Walrein Subs on the switch, uses Toxic on the set up turn, and then uses Toxic again), its still leaving itself wide open to a Stone Edge, so it either eventually loses to Rock Blast or instantly destroyed. Uxie is easily OHKOed.

Starting out with Uxie: Switch in, take a Psychic, get outsped, take another Psychic, and use Shell Smash. The Lum Berry prevents Yawn from working. Crustle easily OHKOs both Pokemon. It actually dies as soon as it defeats Walrein due to hail recoil assuming worst case scenario but it beats the core!

Uxie will not be able to break Vanilluxe's Substitutes with either of its attacking moves. In fact, Leftovers + Ice Body recovery is roughly equal to what U-turn does.

4Atk Uxie (Neutral) U-turn vs 20HP/252Def Shiftry (+Def): 47% - 57% (156 - 188 HP). Guaranteed 3HKO. 22% chance to 2HKO.

This guarantees Shiftry can switch into Uxie, take a U-turn, and set up a Substitute in front of Walrein.

Scenario I- Uxie is in.

What I do: Switch in Vanilluxe. If it Yawns me, I Taunt it and then fall asleep. From there the sleep will wear off before Uxie can Psychic-spam Vanilluxe to death (thank you Ice Body + Leftovers). If I am not in the KO range for 1 more Psychic I Toxic Uxie and then Taunt it. If it tries to Heal Bell it will fail and then I can set up Substitute, which Uxie cannot break. If I am in the KO range I switch to Shiftry and Substitute on whatever is in, blocking Yawn or Toxic. Once I get the opportunity, I will Leech Seed the opponent, breaking a Walrein sub with Bullet Seed if needed (generally it will be Taunted first). Super Fang will never directly KO Shiftry, but if the hail does, then Vanilluxe can switch in, stall Uxie out of Heal Bell PP and Toxic-stall both to death behind a Substitute that will not break by anything besides Super Fang, but Vanilluxe will not die to a Taunted Walrein since Hail doesn't do damage to it. Blizzard will speed up the stalling process and has perfect accuracy under hail.

Scenario II- Walrein is in.

What I do: Switch in Vanilluxe.

If anything besides Toxic is used, I use Substitute, then Taunt. Walrein cannot kill Vanilluxe in this scenario without Uxie's help (and even then I can Toxic Uxie on the switch-in and stall Heal Bell PP, preceded by a Taunt). Then Walrein comes back in and is also Toxic-stalled to death, even if Vaniluxe is not behind a Substitute because then Shiftry can come in, Sub, and finish stalling out the turns.

If I switch in on Toxic, I Substitute, then Toxic. I switch back and forth between Shiftry and Uxie, Leech Seeding the first switch-in, and then use Substitute to block status. Whenever Walrein is in I will Taunt it. If Walrein threatens a kill with Super Fang I just switch back to Vanilluxe. With constant switching, Ice Body, Leftovers, and Leech Seed will outpace hail and poison, and both Uxie and Walrein will eventually die to Toxic.

DISCLAIMER: These EVs revolve around Walrein having a Hardy nature since none is listed and it doesn't affect Walrein's stats. If I need more detail to get my point please say so!

escavalier cannot be worn down by toxic or hail thanks to overcoat and takes pitful damage from uxie's attacks. with sleep talk and rest, it doesn't mind being put to sleep with yawn. twineedle makes sure that walrein cannot stall out escavalier with substitute and protect.

Sets up rain dance on anything which keeps him from getting toxic, stop Walrein's recovery, and allows him to use rest as recovery. Encore locks Walrein into Toxic or Substitute, or Uxie into Yawn. Bug Buzz, expert belt, and a modest nature allow him to 2HKO Uxie, and eventually wear down Walrein, who is a non-threat to this set. 252 HP makes Uxie's Psychic a 4HKO, and he doesn't need any extra speed to beat these two.

Super Fang doesn't do anything because Ghost-type. Psychic doesn't do anything because Dark-type. Don't care about Toxic or Yawn because of RestTalk. U-turn does like nothing.

You might argue that when I'm RestTalking, Walrein could be behind a sub and stall me when I wake up due to RestTalk's unreliability. However, this Spiritomb can, under every circumstance, set up to +6 without dying (unless it kills both of them off first before it gets to +6, but yeah), but:

+6 252+ SpA Spiritomb Dark Pulse vs. 232 HP / 4+ SpD Walrein: 450-529 (107.39 - 126.25%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Comes in on Walrein: Missy uses Taunt. If Walrein subbed on the switch, Missy Taunts and 2HKOs the sub with Shadow Ball and wears down Walrein, while Taunting as it goes along. If Walrein Toxics on the switch, Missy Taunts and wears down Walrein, Resting when needed.

Comes in on Uxie: If Uxie Yawns, Missy Shadow Balls and then Sleep Talks until it wakes. All Uxie can do is try putting Missy back to sleep again, because

Simple set that functions like Scorpdestroyer's Missy set. It Taunt Walrein, its immune to toxic. It has Rest and Sleep Talk as recovery. It is immune to Uxie's Psychic and takes pitiful damage from U-turn. While Drapion can retaliate with Crunch.

I might move some Atk EVs to HP so you don't die at the end of Scenario II but otherwise I don't see any problems with this counter.

SpDef Magneton can switch into either Pokemon, as it's immune to Toxic and can bypass Yawn with Sleep Talk. It can wear down either Pokemon with Thunderbolt which is super effective on Walrein. It doesn't really need Eviolite to defeat the core because only Super Fang can touch Magneton, so Leftovers is better for canceling out hail damage.

0 SpA Uxie Psychic vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Magneton: 34-41 (11.18 - 13.48%) -- 9HKO at best

Druddigon (M) @ Leftovers

Walls all 3 Pokemon. Qwilfish can Taunt it to prevent it from using Rest, but HP Electric does a good deal of damage (32.33 - 38.32%) and Qwilfish can't use Waterfall without taking damage from Rough Skin. The other two Pokemon don't do enough damage to Druddigon, who can defeat them with Dragon Claw. I guess Rotom-C could Trick Druddigon, and then Qwilfish could be sent in a bunch of times to lower the damage of Dragon Claw, so in that case I'll add another Pokemon.

This is the strongest attack that the core has against Druddigon:

Lanturn (M) @ Leftovers

Lanturn beats both Magmortar and Qwilfish, and Druddigon can switch into Rotom-C if it uses Leaf Storm on Lanturn. Lanturn can paralyze the opponents so Druddigon can outspeed them, and can also use Heal Bell to cure Druddigon if it's asleep.

I don't really think a single Pokemon can counter the core since Rotom-C can use Trick. Otherwise I would have only used Drudd or champion Hypno.

Altaria and Camerupt counter this core pretty nicely (actually altaria does a pretty good job checking this core on its own, but in case of things like Stealth Rock or Rotom-C's trick its probably a good idea to pair it with another Pokemon regardless). Altaria can switch in on Qwilfish, Magmortar, and Rotom-C decently well, (especially because of the extra Hp investment i can use because the Magmortar in the core has maximum HP invesment instead of speed) only really fearing repeated Thunderbolts from Rotom-C, and can dent any Pokemon in the core with a decently Powerful specs Draco Meteor OHKOing all of them except Magmortar, who is still cleanly 2HKO'd by Meteor. After Altaria has scored a KO, it can simply switch back out to restore the power of its Draco Meteor. This is where Camerupt comes in handy, it makes a nice secondary check to both Rotom-C and Magmortar, being immune to tbolt/volt switch, having enough bulk to take a Leaf Storm, and resisting Fire Blast, and can threaten all 3 members of the core with either a STAB lava plume or Earth Power. It can't take Qwilfish's Waterfall well at all, but Qwilfish is a free switch in to Altaria regardless, making this a moot point.
