This is a team I've been working on for a while trying to use an Ambipom lead. I've gotten it to over a 50% win rate and am looking to for help to tweak it into a stronger team. So, without furth preamble, here's the team:
AT A GLANCE:
***************************************
***************************************
TEAM IN DEPTH:
Ambipom (M) @ Life Orb
Jolly nature
Ability: Technition
4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
- Fake Out
- Taunt
- Low Kick
- U-turn
My ambipom is somewhat standard. It runs fake out of course to compliment it's technition ability. It's great speed also makes it a naturaul taunter against stealth rocking suicide leads. Low Kick lets we use him as a blissey breaker or surprise a sword dancing lucario/scizor. U-turn lets me get out of a bad situation (like a lead Gengar).
FIGHTING goes to: Gyarados, Venusaur, Swampert
Venusaur (M) @ Leftovers
Bold nature
Ability: Overgrowth
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpD / 4 Spe
- Sleep Powder
- Leech Seed
- Energy Ball
- Sludge Bomb
This is probably the 'iffy-est' choice on the team. Venusaur is a good bulky pokemon the works well with Ambipom. I can u-turn on a taunted poke and set up sleep powder very easily and it can easily absorb any Fighting attacks aimed at Ambipom. Energy ball and sludge bomb are their for the stabs, obviously.
GROUND goes to: Gyarados, Swampert
PSYCHIC goes to: Tyranitar
FLY goes to: Tyranitar, Swampert, Gyarados
FIRE goes to: Tyranitar, Swampert, Gyarados
ICE goes to: Heracross, Tyranitar
Gyarados (M) @ Life Orb
Adamant nature
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 6 HP/252 Atk/252 Spd
- Waterfall
- Dragon Dance
- Earthquake
- Ice Fang
Dancing Gyarados maybe nothing new but he's never gotten borring to me. Many is the time I've been able to U-turn Gyarados in and force a switch allowing me a free dragn dance. I've thought a bit about switching Gyarados to a builkier spread though.
ROCK goes to: Venusaur, Swampert, Heracross
ELECTRIC goest to, Venusaur, Swampert
Heracross (M) @ Choice Scarf
Adamant nature
Ability: Guts
EVs: 252 Atk/6 Def/252 Spd
- Close Combat
- Pursuit
- Megahorn
- Stone Edge
Ah, Heracross. One of my favorite pokes. The choice scarf set makes Heracross a great revenger killer. I'm running stone edge and pursuit to try and give heracross as much type coverage as possible. To be perfectly honest, I'm not sure there are any problems here. Which probably means that there's something hugly wrong with it. Please let me know if you can see it.
FLY goes to: Tyranitar, Swampert, Gyarados
PSYCHIC goes to: Tyranitar
FIRE goes to: Swampert, Gyarados, Tyranitar
Swampert (M) @ Leftovers
Relaxed Nature
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Ice Beam
- Roar
A good physical wall, roarer and back up starter is ambipom gets KOed to quickly. I've decided to run stealth rock over surf since I already have good access to water moves with gyarados. Ice beam also allows Swampert to act as my dragon killer, being immune to Latias' T-wave.
Grass goes to: Venusaur, Heracross
Tyranitar (M) @ Choice Scarf
Jolly nature
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
- Stone Edge
- Crunch
- Pursuit
- Earthquake
Tyranitar takes up my final spot due to the rest of my teams weakness to Flying and Psychic. Because both of those types are fairly speedy, I'm, running the Choice Scarf set over Choice Band. This has allowed Tyranitar to funtion as a back-up revenge killer if Heracross goes down.
FIGHTING goes to: Gyarados, Venusaur, Swampert
GROUND goes to: Gyarados, Swampert
STEEL goes to: Heracross
WATER goes to: Venusaur
GRASS: Heracross, Gyarados
Well, that's my team as it stands right now. Tell me what you think. All suggestions and complaints and comments are welcome.
