Welcome to Smogon! Take a moment to read the Introduction to Smogon for a run-down on everything Smogon, and make sure you take some time to read the global rules.
Set 1 (Type, Stats, Ability) Name: Electangle Type: Electric Stats: 100 / 75 / 72 / 75 / 175 / 103 | BST: 600 | Weight: 238 kg Ability: Pressure / Synchronize | Mold Breaker (HA) Movepool: *learns universal TMs Physical: Wild Charge, Zing Zap, Power Whip, Earthquake, Rock Slide, Heat Crash, Superpower, Special: Thunderbolt, Discharge, Volt Switch, Energy Ball, Giga Drain, Overheat, Dazzling Gleam Status: Stealth Rock, Thunder Wave, Haze, Aromatherapy, Flavor: Thunder, Rising Voltage, Spark, Charge Beam, Shock Wave, Electro Ball, Electroweb, Thunder Shock, Grass Knot, Bulldoze, Stomping Tantrum, Brick Break, Fling, Payback, Brutal Swing, Rock Smash, Body Slam, Double Edge, Slam, Tackle, Take Down, Swift, Tri-Attack, Giga Impact, Hyper Beam, Helping Hand, Agility, Electric Terrain, Eerie Impulse, Magnet Rise, Magnetic Flux, Light Screen, Description: Mono-Electric is an ideal type for a blanket check to many of our offensive pokemon (especially the new ones that rip apart our old defensive cores). It's also a type that's fairly lacking in the tier. The combination of Electric STAB and Heat Crash allows it to deal with a lot of attackers, even with its low offensive stats. No recovery keeps its giant bulk in check.
Set 2 ( Stats and movepool of Alcremie) Name: Orchile Type: Grass / Poison Stats: 65 / 60 / 75 / 110 / 121 / 64 | BST: 495 | Weight: 12 kg Ability: Sweet Veil | Aroma Veil (HA) Movepool: Special: Sludge Bomb, Clear Smog, Giga Drain, Leaf Storm, Energy Ball, Earth Power, Mystical Fire, Psychic, Shadow Ball, Dark Pulse, Status: Strength Sap, Will-o-Wisp, Spikes, Toxic Spikes, Toxic, Stun Spore, Leech Seed, Calm Mind, Aromatherapy, Synthesis, Trick Room, Flavor: Sludge, Acid, Venoshock, Gunk Shot, Poison Jab, Cross Poison, Poison Sting, Solar Beam, Grass Knot, Petal Dance, Vine Whip, Mega Drain, Petal Blizzard, Seed Bomb, Magical Leaf, Absorb, Grassy Glide, Razor Leaf, Mud Slap, Dream Eater, Psycho Cut, Night Slash, Payback, Pollen Puff, Cut, Endeavor, Slash, Wrap, Body Slam, Tackle, Growth, Worry Seed, Sweet Scent, Safeguard, Corrosive Gas, Poison Powder, Venom Drench, Disable, Curse, Sunny Day, Rain Dance, Grassy Terrain, Description: Defensive Spiker that checks Cellsius and Teslapple very well, as well as a few other special attackers depending on its coverage. It has huge coverage and a wide support movepool that it can use to hit most possible most switch-ins.
Fakemon Name: Envrym [envy + wyrm; envy is a kind of apple] Set Number: 2 (Balar) Weight: 0.9 kg Stats:123 / 132 / 84 / 74 / 111 / 76
Typing: Bug / Grass Abilities: Run Away / Aerilate / Magic Guard
Movepool: Universal moves, First Impression, U-Turn, Grav Apple, Rapid Spin, Knock Off, Aromatherapy, Wish, Lunge, Sticky Web, Drum Beating, Forest's Curse, Leech Seed, Sleep Powder, Stun Spore, Leech Life, Horn Leech, Worry Seed, Seed Bomb, Leafage, Grassy Terrain, Energy Ball, Magical Leaf, Bug Bite, Bug Buzz, Fury Cutter, Infestation, Skitter Smack, X-Scissor, Tackle, Body Slam, Withdraw, Astonish, Defense Curl, Focus Energy, Growth, Heavy Slam, Rollout, Sucker Punch, Hone Claws Description: While the stat spread, especially the attack, leans into a very clear offensive role, I wanted to take a different route. With a poor STAB combo and a lack of strong moves, it instead plays around added effects to support its team. It particularly benefits from Life Orb boosting its meager attack BP without drawback due to Magic Guard. Drum Beating and Grav Apple make it harder to switch into due to the guaranteed Spe/Def drop. Grav Apple particularly combos well with U-Turn to take a switch. The mon is actually built around U-Turn to be a pivot, as it has quite good bulk and has a hazard immunity. This is highlighted with First Impression, which is its strongest move to take advantage of its attack and it bypasses its lower speed stat. It also takes on support roles such as a cleric, spinner or Wish passer.
Fakemon Name: Basifist [basilisk + fist] Set Number: 3 Weight: 456.7 kg Stats: 100 / 110 / 100 / 70 / 60 / 100 [540 BST] Typing: Dragon / Fighting Abilities: Compound Eyes / Stamina / Intimidate Movepool: Universal TMs, Cross Chop, Submission, Drain Punch, Arm Thrust, Dragon Rush, Dragon Claw, Outrage, Scale Shot, Stone Edge, Rock Tomb, Rock Slide, Bulk Up, Dragon Dance, Swords Dance, Hone Claws, Mach Punch, Tail Slap, Iron Tail, Tackle, Tail Whip, Poison Tail, Aqua Tail, Dragon Tail, Coaching, Detect, Sandstorm, Wide Guard Description: Lizard that uses Compound Eyes to boost its STABs. Cross Chop never misses and Dragon Rush has 98.5% accuracy, which act as midgrounds compared to Drain Punch or Outrage. Also happens to boost Stone Edge which is helpful. Has boosting moves to have fun with.
Fakemon Name: Fluidrake
Set Number: 1
Weight: 45 kg
Stats: 105/70/100/75/95/80 (525)
Typing: Water/Steel
Abilities: Poison Touch / --- / Sheer Force
Movepool: Scald, Hydro Pump, Surf, Spikes, U-Turn, Flash Cannon, Ice Beam, Toxic, Sludge Wave, all universal TMs
Description: Might change this one a bit later but for now here's this, a bulky Kelven/Cellsius check. Offensive typing and coverage aren't the greatest but it has okay power, great bulk and defensive typing, can set Spikes, and can pivot out.
Fakemon Name: Brainstrom
Set Number: 1
Weight: 75 kg Stats: 125/55/130/70/100/85 (575) Typing: Electric/Psychic Abilities: Psychic Surge/Electric Surge (Surge Surfer) Movepool: Thunderbolt, Thunder, Psychic, Body Press, Recover, Volt Switch, Dark Pulse, Psyshock, Expanding Force, Rising Voltage, Nasty Plot, Slack Off, Hurricane Description: For all of its amazing team potential to set terrains that have yet to be used, Brainstrom lacks support moves. It can heal itself, sure, but its only sources of damage are off 70 SpAtk, and even with the terrain boost of choice and the right move. It's still 70 SpAtk though. Its best use is to pivot about as terrain support.
Fakemon Name: Dullwurm (Catalex)
Set Number: 2
Weight: 32 kg Stats: Catalex's Typing: Catalex's Abilities: Catalex's Movepool: Coil, Gunk Shot, Megahorn, U-Turn, Bonemerang, Zap Cannon, Recover, Power Whip, Aqua Tail, Sticky Webs Description: Dullwurm is not as dull as its name implies, but its movepool is a bit lackluster. Its options are literally all laid out above, but is it enough to make it to the big dogs? The choice between No Guard and Neutralizing Gas is a tough one, but there's no other mon with the gas angle going here.
Set 1 (Type, Abilities) Name: Solaryu Type: Dragon / Electric Stats: 80 / 100 / 105 / 100 / 95 / 70 | BST: 550 | Weight: 106 kg Ability: Victory Star / Insomnia | Skill Link (HA) Movepool: *learns universal TMs Physical: Wild Charge, Thunder Fang, Outrage, Scale Shot, Dragon Claw, Dragon Tail, Fire Fang, Aqua Tail, Flip Turn, Play Rough, Zen Headbutt, Special: Thunderbolt, Discharge, Volt Switch, Draco Meteor, Dragon Pulse, Energy Ball, Dazzling Gleam, Psychic, Weather Ball Status: Defog, Roost, Thunder Wave, Healing Wish, Flavor: Rising Voltage, Thunder, Spark, Thunder Shock, Electroweb, Twister, Dragon Breath, Dragon Rush, Solar Beam, Eerie Impulse, Morning Sun, Sunny Day Description: Defensive Electric types seem pretty good and having one that can fill the Defog role should be a nice option for teams. Volt Switch or Discharge + Dragon Tail / Roost / Defog should be a pretty solid set. I also think it could be versatile with offensive similar to Kapagon, since it has some very strong STAB moves and a good offensive typing.
Set 2 (Stats, Abilities of Panthee) Name: Concragon Type: Normal / Ground Stats: 78 / 83 / 95 / 118 / 121 / 105 | BST: 600 | Weight: 590 kg Ability: Sand Spit | White Smoke (HA) Movepool: *learns universal TMs Special: Earth Power, Scorching Sands, Physical: Earthquake, Body Slam, Rock Slide, Stone Edge, Heavy Slam, Body Press Status: Shore Up, Stealth Rock, Defog, Parting Shot, Taunt, Pain Split, Haze, Iron Defense Flavor: WIP Description: Something of a fast support pokemon. I tried to limit the offensive movepool within reason, so it would focus more on its support movepool. It's pretty good at shutting down early-game hazards with Taunt, and while it can't outspeed Refluse it can at least avoid the Spe drop with White Smoke, then Defog the webs away later. It might also be a functional Sand setter and check to other weathers. Its defensive typing and coverage are not the best so that should keep its great stats in check.
Set 3 (Stats, Type) Name: Styrastle Type: Steel / Dragon Stats: 81 / 54 / 117 / 54 / 71 / 103 | BST: 490 | Weight: 362 kg Ability: Iron Barbs / Scrappy | Sturdy (HA) Movepool: *learns universal TMs Physical: Heavy Slam, Dragon Tail, Body Press, Seismic Toss, Knock Off, Status: Stealth Rock, Thunder Wave, Roar, Iron Defense, Flavor: WIP Description: Stealth Rock tank with superb typing. It's very limited in its attacking options, but it can do a good job of checking several pokemon and getting Stealth Rock up. It may compete with Modolith, there are definitely trade-offs and different matchups between the two. The primary advantages of Styrastle come from its Dragon typing, ability to apply pressure with Iron Defense, and Thunder Wave. Modolith's advantages come from better bulk, Levitate, Toxic, and Spikes.
Abilities: Magma Armor / Flash Fire / Early Bird
Weight: 171 kg
Physical Moves: Earthquake, Flare Blitz, Flame Charge, Bulldoze, Stone Edge, Rock Slide, Body Slam, Iron Head, Dig, Heat Crash, Stomping Tantrum, Rock Tomb, Heavy Slam, Smack Down, Sand Tomb Special Moves: Fire Blast, Flamethrower, Eruption, Earth Power, Lava Plume, Scorching Sands, Power Gem, Overheat, Solar Beam, Heat Wave, Ancient Power, Fire Spin, Mud Shot, Mud-Slap Status Moves: Tar Shot, Sunny Day, Sandstorm, Sand Attack, Torment, Scary Face, Flash Universal moves: Yes
Description: Right now Volvolpa grabs momentum with Volt Switch really freely due to being able to wallop any potential Ground switch-ins, while it's got checks and is far from broken this would be a mon that could actually switch in on it once while also blocking Volt Switch. It does a similar thing to Teslaple (surfn't) as well although we got plenty of good counterplay to that since the tournament so it's not as much as a focus. Overall this mon has great stats and typing but no consistent healing besides Rest and not a lot of utility, so it would fill the role of a tank that can duel many opposing attackers, or a bulky breaker using Eruption. None of its abilities are game-changers, but Early Bird is probably best to slurp Sleep Powders and makes Rest pretty consistent at healing it (really want this concept to work).

Description: This mon can be a general special wall courtesy of its good special bulk, neutral typing, and recovery. It can also be a surprisingly scrappy physical brawler with Huge Power. Poison Touch makes it a cheap bastard, capable of poisoning opponents while Knocking them off, surprisingly useful on a defensive set. It has a couple of multi-hit contact moves to roll for Poison Touch multiple times (gimmicky), although Huge Power is a usable option on defensive sets too. Offensively, Quick Attack gives it a priority option and makes CB a bit more palatable. Overall a good attacker or wall but the slowness and average type holds it back offensively, and defensively it might compete with something with a bit more utility, but it's still a nice choice.

Description: With great setup potential with Hone Claws + Scale Shot, this mon is an offensive juggernaut. Cross Chop lets it bust through Borassa and Modolith easily. While its speed tier is fairly mediocre and makes it easy enough to revenge kill, Prism Armor plus good physical bulk means that scarfers like Sorrée and Dragraceful probably can't beat it down until it's weakened a bit, even with the Scale Shot drops. The same cannot be said about Scarf Kelven which just deletes it. Its defensive checks include Faerenheit which completely shuts it down, and Quadringo, especially bulkier variants. PhysDef Scalaron is a bit less safe but can work too. Lastly a Cinnastar can be specialized to tank it and hit back hard with Sludge Bomb.

And with that, Restrictions is a finished mod! Thank you guys for submitting, voting, and playing the meta! It's all been a lot of fun, and I'll be sure to use what I learned from this meta to help improve the inevitable Gen 9 reboot I end up doing. This meta still may see some changes if tournaments happen or if it gets playtested further and more nerfs or buffs are desired, but otherwise, we are done!
So glad to try to contribute to this and posting my Pokemon! This was really fun and I can't wait to see more, Duo! Thank you so much for making this a thing. It's really unique!
Hey! It's been a while, and I figure just about everyone reading this already knows, but Restrictions is the next Pet Mod of the Season! The finished, Slate 20 meta will be live on the main server soon. Just like always, you're free to use this thread to talk about whatever you'd like with the meta!

This team operated on some assumptions that turned out not to be good ones as the tournament went on - for instance, that I wouldn't be likely to run into Orchile or Polbearab. I do think that Teslaple + Krachiten form a good Volt-Turn core, together with Spikes support. I also think the Magnet Teslaple set works pretty well, being one of the only ways for Teslaple to actually play around Cinnastar and Orchile while still threatening to sweep. The Borassa was pretty much there to check Trick Room, although Borassa proved to be a niche pick later on. I wouldn't really recommend using this team since Polbearab will rip it apart, however I think the Volt-Turn-Spikes core is a solid thing to build around.
This team leverages the extremely scary Polbearab to poke holes in teams, in hopes that Teslaple, Orchile, or Cellsius can clean up the rest. Some aspects of this team were counterteaming what I'd seen from this week's opponent. Teslaple's 80 SpD lets it live Specs Moonblast from Crystelf at +1 SpD, and Psychic on Cellsius was to always revenge kill Scimicobra. Scarf Cellsius is a very solid set that I ended running a lot; Modest allows you OHKO 0 HP Polbearab which I think makes it a must. Skill Swap Thuco-Tuco can turn the tables on Polbearab trying to set up on it, and helps vs. Trick Room Nimbusteed. This team is pretty solid I think, just pray you don't run into Specs Cindarner.
This team was pretty much meant to combine what had emerged as the most solid defensive core with offensive threats that could handle (what I thought was) the only thing that could rip it apart - Polbearab. Both fairies switch into it (unless it's Nuzzle) and can outspeed and OHKO it. It ended up facing Specs Cindarner, to which I had no answer. The Regolite set may seem odd, but it switches into the main answer to Kelven (Cinnastar) repeatedly and is itself very hard to wall without having Modolith on your team. I think this team can work but the results haven't been great. I do think Regolite as a Cinnastar answer and breaker is worthwhile idea, though.
This team handles the balance-breaking threats that had emerged in the tournament - Polbearab, and to some extend Cindarner. Cinnastar beating Cindarner is nothing new, while Sharm (and Torgeist) handle Polbearab. It's not as as solid vs. Cellsius and Teslaple as teams with Orchile and Fluidrake, although you do have answers to both. Punduluum turns out to be a surprisingly solid balance breaker, with Sharm being one of the only defensive staples that really abuses it. Specs Cellsius, Calm Mind Teslaple, and Fluidrake are the biggest threats to this team (which could very reasonably be run together), but they're also things that most teams are preparing for. Regolite is also a giant threat.
My team decided to bring nothing but Rain once we lost our shot at the playoffs; I also wanted to give Specs Borelem a shot however... so Choice Band Kapagon it was. This pivot Spam + Spikes team is a decent showcase of Borelem; it draws in pokemon like Orchile and Thuco-Tuco in order to give Borelem a lot of chances to fire off attacks. Hail chip is a massive problem for most of the tier's special walls, allowing it to break through even Modolith by spamming Blizzard. Earth Power is also a huge problem for special walls. Wraithful is an unusual pick, but on an offensively-inclined team its pivoting ability and spinblocking is valuable. The three Choice pokemon make this a somewhat prediction-reliant team, but it can be pretty scary if played well.
No seriously these are only teams my team ever used in the format. Me and mag tested like, twice in the entire first 5 weeks and like once on our last week. Anyways fun meta, id marry orchille in real life, cellsius is a fucking bastard, good night tri-state area.
