Aqua Cutter gives up some power compared to Liquidation but does not make contact, which avoids activating Greavard's Fluffy and Voltorb's Static, and removes the risk of activating Pawniard's Defiant with a Defense drop. Brave Bird can be used for super effective coverage versus Grass- and Fighting-types, most notably Toedscool. Alternatively, Aqua Jet gives Quaxly priority, which can be used to threaten weakened foes without a Speed boost. Pokemon weak to Stealth Rock, such as Nymble and Larvesta, are great partners for Quaxly, as they appreciate Quaxly removing hazards the removal of entry hazards to be more effective in their roles. Larvesta in particular is useful as it checks the grass types that otherwise wall Quaxly without Brave Bird has great synergy, as it counters the Grass-types that can give Quaxly trouble. Foongus is another good partner, (AC) as it switches into Spores from Toedscruel and opposing Foongus which otherwise cripple Quaxly can usually switch into Grass- and Electric-types and provide Spore support. Ground-types such as Mudbray and Diglett checks Electric-types that threaten Quaxly out; Diglett can also trap these electric-types enabling Quaxly to spin more safely. also check Electric-types, with Diglett in particular making a fantastic partner as Arena Trap can completely discourage Choice Scarf Magnemite from committing to an Electric-type attack.
