As with all other metagames, they will be starting out in the mini format. Some Pokemon may be initially restricted, if ZUQC predicts they may rise, following Tier Shifts.
This announcement concerns the 1v1 writers for OMC&C.
So, 1v1 will be undergoing a change in how analyses are written, which will affect all Gen 8 mini analyses, as well as Gen 8 full analyses. Currently, the second paragraph for mini analyses is entirely focused on Team Support. For 1v1, this is not the most relevant topic, and often we found that the sections were extremely repetitive, drawn out, and usually boiled down to the extremely simple idea of 'Have teammates that beat what you lose to'
So, in order to make the mini analyses more relevant to the 1v1 metagame, we decided to shift the topic to a kind of 'Matchups' or 'Strategy & Support' section, focusing more on Usage Tips related info, with some mention of teammates near the end. The purpose of the second paragraph now is to:
How to use the Pokemon (if applicable). (if the Pokemon is more complicated than 'click the move that hits hardest', talk about it)
Explain complicated matchups, if necessary.
Lay out exceptions to archetypes that you normally beat that readers should be aware of. (in the example below, Dracovish is said to usually beat Fire-type Pokemon with Fishious Rend in the first paragraph, but speedy Arcanine and SubSwarm Volcarona are exceptions listed in the second paragraph)
List out generalized teammates or excellent specific teammates to help in areas the Pokemon struggles with.
Here is an example of what I mean, for Choice Band Dracovish:
Fishious Rend is notable for being able to beat Aegislash, which can normally beat physical attackers with King's Shield, and Primarina and Magnezone, given the appropriate Special Defense investment. Despite being Fire-types, faster Arcanine variants and Substitute Volcarona beat Dracovish, either by losing its Fire typing through Burn Up, knocking it out with Outrage, or activating Swarm and Petaya Berry and OHKOing with Bug Buzz. Crustle is slower than Dracovish, but with Sturdy can avoid being OHKOed, and knock out Dracovish with Counter. Galarian Corsola can beat Dracovish, despite being slower, since their access to Strength Sap and Cursed Body can heal off damage dealt until Dracovish's Fishious Rend is disabled. Bulky Steel-types like Aegislash and Magnezone are generally appreciated as partners for Dracovish, who can generally handle offensive Fairy- and Dragon-type Pokemon like Togekiss and Kyurem, as well as fast offensive nukes like Galarian Darmanitan and Porygon-Z, and Galarian Corsola. Aqua Jet Chilan Berry Primarina can also be used as a partner to shore up Dracovish's weakness against Sturdy Pokemon, as well Dragon-type Pokemon, Porygon-Z, and Galarian Darmanitan.
It starts out by saying that Aegislash, despite being known for usually beating neutrally effective physical attackers, will be beaten by Dracovish, as well as Primarina, who would normally resist Water and hit Dracovish super effectively, and Magnezone, who can survive Fishious Rend with Sturdy, if Dracovish runs a SpDef set.
Then it moves on to listing important exceptions for Pokemon that fall under the archetypes of Pokemon Dracovish would normally beat. Volcarona and Arcanine are listed as Fire-types Dracovish cannot usually beat, and slower Pokemon who beat Dracovish anyway, like Galarian Corsola and Crustle, are numerated, too.
Then it moves on to generally good teammates that could be considered in order to help Dracovish.
We believe that focusing on these points will be able to give the most amount of specific, 1v1 related information to any reader, and not waste space on stuff that really isn't important for 1v1 as a whole.
How this will be implemented
Analyses on the Smogon Dex or in GP already will be retroactively updated by the QC team to have these new focuses on the second paragraph.
Anything currently in QC will simply have their second paragraph be shifted in a QC check, though if you as an author want to change your analysis in QC to fit these standards before being checked, be my guest.
We will ask, though, that any author currently in WIP change their second paragraph to this, or implement these standards rather than the older ones.
For Full Analyses (This doesn't apply to Gen 8 yet, but will in the future)

I've decided to step down from my position as OMCC Co-Leader and Moderator. I've only served this section as a Moderator for a short amount of time, and I think that the section is very promising and will be fine without me as Moderator. I will remain on the National Dex QC team, but am taking myself off the Mix and Mega QC team, as I simply don't have a great grasp on the post-DLC metagame.
ZU received 22 new mons from the shifts this month and is expected to be a drastically different meta compared to last month. All ZU analyses are on hold until further notice. Do not reserve any new Pokemon for ZU until announced otherwise.
First news: NatDex and STABmons are now available to reserve again! STABmons have updated their on site analyses, while NatDex has chosen to opt to fully revamp their on-site analyses instead. You can find more information on what's being revamped here and in the Reservation OP.
Second News: A few of the OMs have been hit particularly hard by the effects of DLC, in general. With their metagames requiring updates to old analyses essentially every half year, due to DLC, the decision was made to temporarily halt reservations for the metagames most drastically affected. AAA and Mix and Mega analyses will be on hold until the all DLC has been released. This ensures that time and energy is not committed to creating C&C work that will inevitably need to be redone, for these smaller metagames. Naturally, if there is a sudden uptick in metagame forum activity, these circumstances could change.
For separate (but related) reasons, BH will also be putting their analyses on hold until the release of DLC 2. BH is expecting to be radically changed with the release of DLC 2 - with all prior legendaries suddenly becoming legal, the power creep is likely to completely reshape the BH landscape. The QC team has determined that continuing writing analyses
For all analyses on hold, ongoing work will still be QC checked, as per usual. Expect analyses in GP to receive a 3rd QC check of sorts.
In the meantime, these 3 metagames - AAA, Mix and Mega, and BH - will be creating and posting Sample Sets, in order to keep optimal information on the dex. This will be counted as badgeable work. If you wish to get involved in this work, contact a QC member of the respective teams, which you can find here.
The VR rankings is now a VR list that can be found here. As always, post in the reservation thread to get approval for new threads.
The current analyses in QC and GP are expected to be outdated to some degree, and their examples should be updated and edited in. Use example Pokemon that are High or Mid on the VR list, and generally replace examples that are now Low or unranked. For existing analyses that had drastic viability dips, like Cufant and Eiscue, language that oversells these Pokemon should also be replaced and updated.
Tagging all currently active writers to update their existing analyses where appropriate:
The 1v1 analyses community has outgrown us here at OMCC and have their own C&C section to better suit their needs. We want to thank them and their contributions here, and encourage anyone who was planning on anything related to 1v1 analyses to check them out!
On the same note, Alakazam will be stepping down as OMCC leader and moderator to now focus on the the new 1v1 C&C subforum. In his place, Guardsweeper and I will be the new OMCC co-leaders. We plan to continue the growth and maintain the quality of OM analyses to the best of our abilities :)
Congratz to kay joining the ZU QC Team! In other news, Aaronboyer decided to step down from his position in ZU QC. Thank you from all of us for your contributions and help!
In anticipation of DLC II, OM C&C reservations are being locked effective immediately. Further information regarding the unlock-date and the transition in analysis formats will be communicated at a later point in time.
Hello everyone! I'm glad to announce that OM C&C will be reopening. With the release of DLC II, we will be switching over to a brand-new format. This format is a slightly expanded version of the current preview analyses, with the addition of ‘Other Options’ and ‘Checks and Counters’. This format will still need a total of 2 QC checks and 1 GP check! Here’s a template:
List some options for the Pokemon user that are plausible but not always recommended due to either being not consistent enough or too outclassed by other Pokemon in the metagame.

AG will be the only metagame up for reservation for now.
As for the remaining metagames, a few criteria will need to be fulfilled prior to reopening. These are:
Metagame stability
Uploaded analyses need to be updated to the current metagame and the new full format. In case the analysis is too outdated, it has to be replaced with a sample set in its stead.
Sample sets need to be uploaded for every Pokemon on the S- and A-ranks. Naturally, this counts towards the pre-contributor and contributor badges.
Beyond this, currently ongoing analyses will need to be updated to the new format as well! I highly suggest current writers to do this as soon as they believe / get confirmation that their metagame is stable enough.
Writers should check out the Camomons VR along with the uploaded sample sets for the Pokemon to write for, and reserve them in the thread as per usual.
Congratulations on joining OM C&C
NFE is back and open! Check out the reservation sheet as always to see the new DLC2 Pokemon you can reserve, as well as revisions or new sets for already published Pokemon. Also check out the new resource thread for the viability list and a set compendium soon to come.
For NFE analyses currently in QC or GP, we're asking the writers to update their analyses with the DLC2 metagame in mind, and include the new sections of Other Options Checks and Checks and Counters. The team will give a final QC check for those analyses that are currently in GP.
Edit: for Pokemon that already have a published analysis, their strategy comments are already written, and only the set and set comments need to be written about or edited.
The NatDex community has outgrown us here at OMCC and have their own C&C section to better suit their needs. We want to thank them and their contributions here, and encourage anyone who was planning on writing anything related to NatDex to check them out.
Also, everyone give a warm welcome to In The Hills, joining the mod team with Guard and I. Congratz!
