[SET COMMENTS]
Kyurem can easily dismantle various defensive structures found in archetypes ranging from full stall to bulky offense teams. The combination of Substitute and Pressure means Kyurem can PP stall its checks making it very annoying to deal with. Earth Power compliments Freeze Dry well as they give Kyurem perfect coverage and makes Kyurem very difficult to switch into. Substitute makes Kyurem immune to status moves and allows it to get free turns on passive Pokemon such as Alomomola and Ferrothorn. This combined with Roost and Pressure means Kyurem can beat its checks, such as Gyro Ball or Body Press Ferrothorn and Chansey, by stalling out all of their attacks. Protect can be used in conjunction with Leftovers to stall out offensive threats that Kyurem cannot safely Roost in front of, such as Mega Lopunny and Tapu Lele, for longer. However this leaves Kyurem vulnerable to hazards and without reliable recovery which severely lowers its longevity. 56 HP makes it so Blissey and Chansey cannot break Substitute in one hit which allows Kyurem to 1v1 them.

Kyurem fits on balance and bulky offense teams that appreciate its ability to dismantle opposing fats and balances. Offensive pivots, like Tapu Koko and Urshifu-R, can bait in walls like Ferrothorn, Toxapex, and Ting-Lu for Kyurem to prey on. In return, Kyurem can help break down their checks and make it easier for them to clean up late game. Other offensive Pokemon, such as Zamazenta and Great Tusk, also appreciate Kyurem pressuring Gholdengo, Zapdos, and Alomomola. Due to Kyurem's relatively low speed stat and somewhat middling bulk it is easily threatened by strong wallbreakers, such as Zamazenta and Tapu Lele, so Pokemon that can switch into them, like Gholdengo, Toxapex, and Ferrothorn are appreciated. If running Leftovers and Protect, Kyurem becomes vulnerable to hazards so hazard removal from Zapdos, Great Tusk, and Tornadus-T are also appreciated. Alomomola also makes a great teammate as it can safely pivot Kyurem onto the field and can heal Kyurem with Wish.
