Hello! Welcome to my next RMT! Now that the aegislash testing is over (and thankfully, it looks like it's staying gone), I can finally build a team based off of one of my favorite pokes to use, choice banded dragonite. Enjoy, and please rate! (Changes will be made in bold)
P.S. I am not done editing this team quite yet. I was in the middle of it when I had to leave to do something important. The team building process has the real team.
I really wanted to build a team off of dragonite, as not only is he extremely fun to use, but he also is one of very few pokemon in OU with a +2 priority move, in extreme speed.
Magnezone and dragonite have perfect defensive synergy, magnezone killing all the fairy and steel types, and Dragonite cleaning up the rest with choice band outrage.
Bisharp can help out this core by pursuit trapping, cleaning up faries that magnezone fails to, and killing off the ghost types that are immune to extreme speed.
If you use a dragonite, you really need to have a defogger or a spinner. Latios seemed to fit the bill pretty well, as it also was able to keep up the mainly offensive presence this team has.
I figured that having a mega is always nice, and i wanted to use mega gyarados, so i figured why not combine the two? Gyarados also can help to clean up teams that dragonite seems to fail to.
I figured that i needed a stealth rocker, so a defensive chomp seemed to be able help this team the most, causing physical attackers to take about 30 percent of their health when they use contact moves.
After some testing and suggestions, I decided to replace latios with latias for healing wish support, and garchomp with skarmory for an even better physical wall, and something to handle fairies better.
I was considering mega scizor for a while, and Team Pokepals said it actually would be better than gyarados for this team. I was also able to run a rotom wash over skarmory now.
THE TEAM:
Dragonite @ Choice band
Ability: Multiscale
EVs: 252 Atk, 252 Spe, 4 SpD
Nature: Adamant
Outrage
Extreme speed
Fire punch
Earthquake
Dragonite is the poke I've wanted to use the most, so i decided why not build a team off of it? Anyways, choice banded outrage can usually OHKO everything that doesn't resist it, besides a few very specific defensive pokes. Extreme speed is the main reason to use dragonite, as it has +2 priority, allowing dragonite to outprioritize things such as talonflame and bisharp. Fire punch deals with ferrothorn and other steel types, which dragonite hates otherwise. Earthquake really just rounds off the coverage, allowing me to kill heatran and at the very least be able to touch azu. Multiscale can allow dragoniute to live through ice beams and proceed to OHKO more things, and i run an adamant nature to hit as hard as possible.
Magnezone @ Choice scarf
Ability: Magnet Pull
EVs: 252 SpA, 252 Spe, 4 Def
Nature: Timid
IVs: 30 Atk, 30 SpA
Thunderbolt
Volt switch
Flash cannon
Hidden power fire
Although dragmag doesn't work as well as it did in black and white, it still is a decent enough strategy, and magnezone has perfect synergy with dragonite anyways. Thunderbolt is a STAB move that i can lock myself into once all of the ground and electric types are gone. Volt switch allows magnezone to gain some momentum. Flash cannon is another STAB move that allows me to hit fairy types for some more damage. Hidden power fire can allow magnezone to take down steel types, which are otherwise troublesome. Magnet pull allows me to trap steel types and make sure that they go down. The IVs are what give me HP fire.
Bisharp @ black glasses
Ability: Defiant
EVs: 252 Atk, 252 Spe, 4 Def
Nature: Adamant
Knock off
Iron head
Sucker punch
Pursuit
Bisharp makes a fairly decent partner to dragonite, being another mon that can kill steel types, and having utility at removing items, killing ghost types, and pursuit trapping certain mons. Knock off hits the entire meta extremely hard, while also removing their items. Iron head allows me to take down fairy types more easily yet again, as well as it being another STAB move. Sucker punch allows me to take down faster foes, and pursuit allows me to kill things trying to switch out.
Latias @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 72 HP, 184 SpA, 252 Spe
Nature: Timid
IVs: 0 Atk
Psyshock
Draco meteor
Healing wish
Defog
I originally had latios here, but people have said that latias would be better for healing wish support, which was pretty true. It also handles keldeo better, which helps. Anyways, latias is a great defogger for this team, which really helps out dragonite. Psyshock is STAB, and it also hits special walls harder. Draco meteor is a powerful attack to bust a few holes early on. Healing wish, as said, can help bring things back from the brink of death and allow them to sweep again. Defog gets rid of stealth rocks, as well as screens, which can be helpful at times. 0 attack IVs to minimize foul play damage.
Scizor @ Scizorite
Ability: light metal---> technician
EVs: 248 HP, 252 Atk, 8 SpD
Nature: Adamant
Bullet punch
Superpower
Swords dance
Roost
I was originally running Gyarados instead of scizor, but scizor helps to deal with fairies much more easily. Bullet punch allows me to hit fast fairies much more easily, is an amazing STAB move, and kills faster threats. Superpower allows me to deal with bisharp, which otherwise this team would have trouble with. Swords dance allows me to set up, and end up being able to either possibly sweep or just deal more damage in general. Roost heals off damage I took while setting up. Light metal is there before mega evolving to have low kick deal less damage to me.
Rotom @ leftovers
Ability: levitate
EVs: 252 HP, 252 Def, 4 SpD
Volt switch
Hydro pump
WIll o wisp
Pain split
I was pretty weak to birdspam (mainly talonflame though) and Team Pokepals said that rotom would not only be good for this team, but also be able to burn bigger threats and stop birdspam. Volt switch allows rotom to gain more momentum, and overall help the team. Hydro pump is a strong STAB move that can help to hit ground types that are immune to volt switch. Will o wisp burns the main threats to my team, and can help cripple other things that have set up. Pain split can recover a decent amount of HP, and can also do a lot to opponents, as rotom itself doesnt have much hp in the first place.
THREATLIST:
I kinda just made this team, but i guess i'll try to make a threatlist
FAIRY TYPES: I didn't even realize this while building the team, but 1/2 of these mons are weak to fairy type. Its a good thing they're typically slow, so i can revenge kill them with bisharp or dragonite pretty easily.
Keldeo can hit my entire team pretty hard, but usually they are either choice locked into a move or life orbed, meaning they either can't switch their moves or they're too slow to kill me, meaning i don't have too much trouble.
P.S. I am not done editing this team quite yet. I was in the middle of it when I had to leave to do something important. The team building process has the real team.
