Poliwrath Annihilation [OU]

What's up guys. I haven't been active for about a year, and decided to get back into the swing of things. I'm planning to use this team for WI-FI, but I wanted to fix it before I bred everything. Remember that this is for Wi-fi, so I don't want to hear "you should switch dusknoir with rotom-A" because I'm not using pokesav. Alright then, onto the team!

Oh one more thing. The whole point of this team is to have Poliwrath be the lead, so please don't suggest to change him (he is actually dirty anyways). I'd just like some suggestions on how to build the best team around Poliwrath.

The Team

SANDMAN @ Leftovers
Nature: Adamant (+Atk,-SpA)
Ability: Damp
EVs: 252 HP / 152 Atk / 88 Def / 16 Spe
Moves:
~Bulk Up
~Substitute
~Focus Punch
~Waterfall

I got this set from Shizzle. Thanks dude!

This thing handles everything except jirachi, machamp, and any other lead with thunderbolt or that resist water/fighting (not many). It wrecks metagross, aerodactyl, infernape, swampert, etc. My opponent usually taunts and I use water fall/focus punch, or I sub while they set up stealth rock. This thing usually takes 1 poke down, 2 if I have some luck, and 6 if I having a really good day xD.

Mamoswine @ Life Orb
Naughty
244 Atk/ 64 SpA/ 200 Spd
~Earthquake
~Blizzard
~Ice Shard
~Stone Edge

Your standard MixMamo. I use this to get rid of Skarm-Blisses and other walls. I like the fact that he has the third strongest Earthquake in the game. Ice Shard is for Dragons, etc. I felt like I needed a wall breaker on my team, as its not necessarily offensive minded. This is the only thing on my team that scares jirachi away. Also, he takes electric attacks aimed at Gyrados. Are there any other suggestions besides Mamoswine? I'm a little concerned about Blizzard's accuracy though...Let me know what you think.

242.png

Blissey @ Leftovers
Bold
252 Hp/ 252 Def / 4 SDef
~Charm
~Softboiled
~AromaTherapy
~Seismic Toss

Charm Bliss! I love this thing, and I'm surprised more people don't use it. Charm incoming attackers and wall them like their special. Pretty simple. One thing I've been bothered with is this can't handle ghosts, so I'm thinking I need a ghost counter for some backup. Alakazam?

dusknoir.png

Dusknoir @ Leftover
Impish
252 Hp/ 28 Atk / 228 Def
~Will-o-Wisp
~Pain Split
~Shadow Sneak
~Thunder Punch

Standard Tank. Needed a physical wall, and this helps when Machamp comes in. It would Rapid Spin, but I have no stealth rock or spikes support :( so that's a potential problem. I had Ice Punch on it on Shoddy, but I haven't had anything to use it on, so I'm thinking of switching to Thunderpunch for Gyrados. Will-O-Wisp has helped me alot.

130.png

Gyrados @ Lefties
Adamant
156 Hp/ 72 Atk/ 96 Def / 184 Spd
~Waterfall
~Stone Edge(Ice Fang?)
~Dragon Dance
~Taunt

Bulky Gyra. Waterfall is your typical Stab, and Stone Edge is for other Gyras (as I don't really have a Gyrados counter on this team). I Dragon Dance on the switch, then hurt whatever I can. Taunt is for opposing walls, although I haven't really used it. Maybe Ice Fang should go in that slot? Gyrados can take the fighting moves when Dusknoir is gone, or if I see an oppurtunity for Gyrados to switch in and sweep. I don't think I have been using him right, as I haven't had much of a chance to sweep. Maybe I need a more offensive Gyra...or another sweeper? Let me know!

Heatran @ Choice Scarf
Naive
252 SpA / 252 Spd / 4 Hp
~Earth Power
~Fire Blast
~Explosion
~HP Electric

Revenge Killer. Out speeds Gyra and smashes him with HP Electric. Earth Power is for steels, other fires, and Tyranitar. Fire is there, cause, well hes Heatran. He takes Fire moves directed at Mamoswine. Explosion is when Blissey/Vaporeon switch in on him. Choice Scarf because my team isn't that fast and I need a revenge killer. I felt my team needed a special attacker. IVs are self explanatory (I would hope). He's been alright I guess..not really doing his job, but its probably because he doesn't fit.

Yea so there it is. It is rough right now, but I've actually been pretty successful with it, so I think with a few changes I could be all set. Thanks for reading!

I realize that but you don't know how many times I've saved myself from an explosion (fortress, metagross, etc). If you predict an explosion, you can focus punch-- you don't even need a sub. I've found Damp extremely beneficial.

Honestly, if you're running Substitute. Why would you be worried about Explosion? Isn't that what subbing is for? To dodge that kind of thing. I also suggest you put the Water Absorb on Poliwrath. Water Absorb is a sexy ability to have.

Also, half your team is weak to Fighting. (Which is a pretty common attacking type), allowing an easier chance to get swept by a sweeper with a fighting attack. I'd switch out the Tran, Bliss or Mamo for something else.

Cool Poliwrath though! I love Poliwraths!

haha thanks dude. Poliwrath is actually a really great anti-lead. But anyways, what should I do about Tran, Bliss or Mamo? If there were anyone on the team that I'd say needed to be switched, I'd be Heatran. Should I try Infernape instead?

Two day bump. I could use some help :)

Edit: Changed Earthquake to Shadow Sneak and Ice Punch to Thunder Punch on Dusknoir. Testing Mixed Dragonite over Mamoswine, but that leaves half of my team weak to electric...thoughts?

Nice to see the lead :)
The idea behind Damp is because pokemon like Metagross/Heatran who can't do much to Poliwrath after a sub [+Bulk Up for Metagross as well] think screw it, ill explode, and whether its a glitch on shoddy or not, I don't know, but it takes up a turn, in which you can Bulk Up once more. Although of course if Poliwrath was running any other set Water Absorb would be much more useful.

I think Blissey here is a bit of a gimmick, and without stealth rock, charm isn't doing much. As I would think charm pressures switches, which your opponent will happily take if no SR is down. I recommend Toxic or Thunder Wave, which cripple pokemon such as Infernape/Lucario [Twave]. If they switch into Blissey, they would expect a switch, and Lucario user's would go for the SD, while you Thunder Wave and switch to Dusknoir/Gyarados. Switch out Aromatherapy for something, you can always tank status with blissey thanks to natural cure, and throw in a special move so gengar doesn't trouble you as much.

Blissey @ Leftovers
Bold - Natural Cure
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 Spe
~ Seismic Toss
~ Ice Beam / Flamethrower
~ Thunder Wave / Toxic
~ Softboiled

I don't think Ice Beam is as needed with Mamoswine on your team, so Flamethrower would probably be better.

Also on Heatran if you are running Explosion use a Naive nature.

I don't see MixSwine working without Hail support, Blizzard has terrible accuracy, and a standard LO Physical set would work great, many teams never even prepare for Mamoswine.

EDIT: You also need another SpA bulky wall or SpA sweeper, right now your team is too physically based.
