PokeStats: Power and Accuracy in OU

I run Blizzard on a hail team (Tentacruel) just because it does a ton to Celebi. When sand is up it only has 70% acc, but is pretty reliable for me. I like to switch it out ice beam and blizzard. I usually don't use moves that are low accuracy unless I have to. I'll run rock slide as a 4th move on CS Terrak just because you don't know how many times a Volcarona has swept me because I've missed Stone Edge.

I never understood why Gamefreak made the accuracy of thunder and rock type moves so horrible. Rock type moves especially were given the middle finger by Gamefreak. Unless I'm mistaken smack down is the only rock type move ON THE PHYSICAL SIDE with perfect accuracy. Rock and electric type moves do have good coverage, but the coverage is not that amazing and it wouldn't hurt the metagame one bit if they improved the accuracy. You still have plenty of ground, volt absorbers, motor drivers and grass types to switch into electric attacks, and you've still got tons of ground, fighting, and steel types to absorb rock attacks.

Okay, I'm done. Sorry about the rant...

I dont know if this happens to you guys as well, but when I use powerful non STAB moves they connect more than if I were to use it with a mon with STAB. Talk about sheer luck, or dumb luck.

Just adding some more to simplify my earlier statements:
i generally divide stats into inherent and variable. The inherent value is essentially the stat(s) that stand out, if we take heatran for example the base 130 SpAtk i classify as inherent as it is naturally good without any investment. Most of the time on our sweepers we tend to pump up the inherent values with ev's and nature boosting such as Haxorus in Atk and Spe. If you pump up inherent values i see no reason to further increase the power with inaccurate moves and jeoperdise his non-inherent values (missing and getting slammed with an SE move on his lack-luster defenses). When it comes to Heatran however i pump up its variable stats; the 106 defenses and then run a less accurate alternative such as Fire Blast to work along his inherent value to give it a strength of an invested heatran with a weaker alternative (theoretically, not always the case).

that is my pre-prepared accuracy/power balance however a lot of this game isn't pre-planned (looking at you hax gods) so in general if i can afford to miss i will go for the Hydro Pump which i use most of the time however if i cannot afford to miss at all then i (obviously) go for scald. I also mix up hydros and scalds so i am not backed into a corner.

So to sum up:
Power>Accuracy on Bulky Offense (Heatran etc)
Accuracy>Power on set up sweepers (Dont want them to die of a focus miss etc)
Mix up Accuracy/Power moves on your team to give you options
and finally i would like to quote rudyard kiplings "If" for those moments when it all depends on focus miss etc to motivate you.

"If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings..."
