@ Jon, I make my teams balanced and include the cool Pokemon I come across. You may train yours differently, but I find that if you just level them up high enough you'll be fine! :o

Yes, you will be fine, at least until the Battle Frontier scales your level 100 Illuminate Starmie with a Jolly nature down to everyone else's level, and it's screwed because its EVs are all over the place on top of all that. See, if it got me to the Battle Frontier, logic dictates that I would want to use it in the Battle Frontier; I can't if it's just going to fail tragically, however.

Then, about 2 gyms down, you meet a shady guy who wanted to be an artist but got rejected. He could be called "PkMn Trainer Adolph". He could eventually turn out to be quite a public speaker and get into pokemon-politics. Then, after gaining much power, he invades Poland. He soon decrees that anyone from Hoenn is an abomination, and the 'pure' nation must prevail over all others. He, and leaders from other Poke-countries get together and begin fighting a war in the Gen-5 nation. Soon, a group of People get together and bomb Kanto in an in-game cutscene called "Pokemon Diamond and Pearl Harbor". Kanto unwillingly joins the alliance of nations (conveniently called the "Allies), and begins to fight the war. PkMn trainer Adolph soon gathers up a large amount of PkMn Trainer Jews and puts them in Safari Zones, where they are forced to work in inhumane conditions. Eventually, PkMn trainer Adolph comes up with a "Final Solution"... he summons a legendary pokemon to battle all of the PkMn Trainer Jews and kill them. You, as one PkMn Trainer Jew, must battle/capture the legendary and allow the Allies to stop PkMn Trainer - Adolph, who later Gets Away Safely! from battle and commits suicide.

After the war is over, Kanto and Jhoto begin a Pokemon Race, starting an Ice-type Cold War during which they compete to see who can get the best pokemon. They use underdeveloped nations such as Orre and Fiore, which no one cared about before the War.

After all this, a couple of Poke-Extremists from Fiorre hijack a Dark Lugia and send it crashing into the GTS, igniting a sudden rise in racial profiling against Fiorre-ians, another game no one cared about untill Gen. 5.

All this being said, I think a war would be a great novel plotline for pokemon games. Too bad it's never gonna happen.

that is almost like hitler story, hence the name adolph i guess....

This was...sinister
I laughed hard at Diamond and Pearl harbor and Ice-type cold war though =P

All i know is I'm down with having a "gym" of some sort or atleast bring secret bases back but enhance them a bit. The latest thing we had close to that was DP Underground, which was absolute crap, and that Villa in Pt that you randomly got with the over-priced items.

I think IVs should remain is because, like someone mentioned a couple pages back, it gives breeding more of a purpose than just getting those babymons to fill up your dex. HGSS introduced IVs being passed down with the "power" items held by the parents. Maybe BW will offer more enhancements. Or atleast give some Ingame knowledge of EV and Iv exsistance.

We're not supposed to know about IVs... or EVs, for that matter. They're ingame mechanics that Nintendo never expected us to use for Competetive battling.

I dunno about that.
With items to affect the passing of nature/IVs/earning EVS and an ability to assist catching Pokemon with the nature you desire plus ingame IV hints, I wouldn't go as far as to say we're not supposed to know.
I think that they don't want to burden new/young players with all that complexity especially since you don't really need to know it all to beat the game itself.
However, if you're a competitive Pokemon player you know certain things are in the game for you, it's pretty obvious.

I would have no problem with IVs if you could work your way towards your IV goal through some reliable (non-RNGA) process.
As it is now, you can increase your odds but there will still be a tremendous amount of randomness invovled.
Just about everything involved in raising a competitive Pokemon without hacking has been made easier with each new game.
I have hopes that IV training will be streamlined but I am not in favour of abolition of IVs.

Arceus created all Pokemon as equals. It's just that some Pokemon are more equal than others.

And another one of your quotes finds its way onto my sig...

in soviet russia YOU are world war 2.

Not the right format for a "In Soviet Russia" joke...

Anyway, that whole thing about online gyms sounds really cool. Nintendo is really starting to use the DS' Wireless capacity to its full effect in Pokemon games as the fourth gen draws to a close, so while there's not really any concrete evidence for this sort of thing happening, it's certainly possible.

Here's something I don't think anybody's touched on yet...it doesn't look like we're getting the PokeWalker back! I mean, if a Pokewalker did come with Black and White, GameFreak would have let us known about it. That's a shame...I really liked that whole concept.

The whole Adolf (not Adolph) Hitler as a Pokemon trainer thing...I don't know about that. I'd honestly prefer Hitler as a Pokemon.

dragon typed volt absorb is given to many dangerous threats. Dragonite gets an ability that nulifies it.
Fuck mence and latias and flygon and kingdra

Obvious inclinations aside, that Pikachu's super cute. Just wanted to say.

I don't think we'll ever get a Dragon typed Volt Absorb, or anything of that sort. The absorbing abilities are based on types which represent forms of raw energy, like Fire, Electricity, and Water. Dragon is a type that represents a physical form, an actual being, if you will. I highly doubt the inclination to absorb a Dragon Claw as a form of health; it just doesn't seem right.

I lol'd hard at every single line of this post... it's been a while since I've seen something this witty. Props to you, FattyButt. Scrap Black and White, GameFreak should get you onboard ASAP for the production of Pokemon: Axis and Allies Versions; coming to a non-Jewish store near you.

Anyway, I agree an actual plot would be a wonderful addition to the next generation of games, and more mature themes wouldn't hurt either. But the reason it will never happen is because Pokemon must stay youth-friendly... and since I myself was introduced to Pokemon at the age of 8, I don't want to see that change.

I want another bad guy like Cyrus. I really do. That scene where everyone was cheering for him in the Galactic Headquarters really surprised me. He seemed to really contrast all of our previous bad guys, maybe just in personality and how people felt about him. I just want another character like that, just with a better plot, and if the cutscenes have to be animated with sprites, for them to be more like Mother 3 cutscenes.

@FattyButt - lol that was fun, my favorite part "underdeveloped nations like Fiore and Orre"

Anyway, changing IV and Natures at will, would be way too much, but there should be a easier ways to get desired pokemon.

Pages back someone told me that breeders do like to hatch thousands of eggs, but people that doesn't have the time (or will) for that we have to play in simulators (which are pretty good, i agree) or some will resort to Pokesav.

The opposite is true.
Gamefreak has been shoving IV, EV, and Nature concepts into our faces over the past Gen. They're beginning to go WITH the Pokemon community.

There are EV Items, and IV checker, Ribbons for Maxing EVs, literally people TELLING you where to EV Train. Their guides tell you all about EVs now, what berries do to stats, what the Vitamins do, where to go to train, and even have adopted the term "Shiny Pokemon" from the community. Making easier to pass IVs....

They CARE about competitive Pokemon, and are pretty much telling people how to do it.

I think it takes too long to hatch and train pokemon. I mean, I hate cycling up and down to hatch an egg with the right nature and the right ivs, to then have to ev train it and level it to 100. I think all pokemon of the same species/form should have identical stats, and that way you could catch any pokemon and stick with it for the rest of the game.

No no no no no. Pokémon being individual creatures is an important part of the game; although it might benefit competitive players (other than things like Trick Room or Hidden Power), its overall contribution would be negative. No way are Game Freak going to remove that.

On a different note, I agree that there should be more ways to increase the speed of hatching eggs. An 'incubator' item that can only be used once, but hatches an egg instantly (and can be purchased, or somehow obtained as many times as you want); a key item which has a similar effect to Magma Armor/Flame Body and stacks with them; even a rocket bike that goes ridiculously fast but only in straight lines. Do it, Game Freak :P

I mentioned this before, but I don't think anyone saw it. The protagonists look like they're wearing Poketches so they could make a Poketch app that works like the IV people or tells you something really vague like "Your Pokemon's strength is 31" that would make no sense to casual players but competetive players would know exactly what it means. I don't think they'll change the way IVs are determined, aside from possibly making it so that you can use two Power Items while breeding.

Perhaps if they wanted to make hatching more "interesting" they could put together some sort of minigame that has to do with the incubator. Kind of like making poffins and the likes, but instead it's trying to keep the incubator working. That way, it would "keep the young audience entertained" in addition to speeding up the process for more serious gamers like us.

Edit: After some thought, I'd like to see something where you stay "Champion" of the Elite Four. They always say you beat the champ, but you never get to act like one. Maybe creating the Champion role to act like the Battle Tower would be cool. You sit in your spot and heal and fight trainers who think they can beat you. If you lose, then you have to try to fight the E4 all over again.

maybe we will get motorcycles or scooters, lol
this new region is all urbanized, atleast it seems to be so far and the characters are said to be older.
rocket bike would be epic though

The only problem I have with a rocket bike is that a bunch of kids will probably try straping fireworks to their bikes to try and make them go faster. I suppose it would be ok if it looked nothing like a bike, though. I think what they should really do is make a bike with three speeds, normal, fast, and Linoone speed (aka really, really fast but you can't turn) so it only makes kids want to go really fast on their bikes under their own power.

Edit: Also, America and Europe would probably take it out for that very reason.

gamefreak, instead of giving tips about ivs and evs, should just tell everyone what they are already, of course we all know about but the fact me(and one other kid) are the only persons that know about ivs/evs/natures in the ENTIRE school piss me off.

Kids have been doing that for years, no way you could argue Pokemon caused it.

Word. It all started with the Macho Brace, which "promotes growth". Well, it's probably not clear to the average gamer what the hell they're saying, but then we got the Power Items in DPPt, that flat-out said they make Pokemon grow up to have more [stat]. They also changed the wording of the vitamins' item descriptions in-game to reflect a change of "base" stats. Of course, their idea of base stats differs from ours, but it clues attentive gamers into the possibility that there's a hidden value that these vitamins affect.

My point is, they're being more and more outspoken about the inner mechanics of a Pokemon as time goes on, so this could be the generation where we can see even deeper into the inner workings. Perhaps it will show small progress bars next to each stat to denote their EV investment, or graphically denote in the Pokedex which Pokemon grant which EVs.
