Well the characters are supposed to be older in these games. I don't know what's up with her hair. Does Pokemon take place back in the '80s or is this back in time before the other games?

I think even for a game that's expected to be more mature thematically, war, disease, famine, and death are a bit too 'heavy' as concepts for legendaries. Death's probably OK, there are many very creepy ghost types already, and disease might be viable (I mean we have stuff like Muk), but I can't see there being Pokemon themed on war and famine.
Famine is pretty easy really, the easiest way would be with a locust styled Pokemon. We're missing Grasshoppers as it is.

War is harder, but I can see it happening. Pokemon has covered Genetic Engineering, Climate Change(I'm currently writing a paper on this, it;s complicated as shit), and Time/Space. Why not cover the causes of life and death. The whole Game is based on fighting anyway. I could easily see a counter set of legendaries. Peace, Plenty, Life, and Medicine are just as easy to do. (Black and White-Horsemen vs their counters.) I'm so sad this won't be in the game it sounds like so much fun.

Claw Sharpen + Dynamic Punch FTW (when Machamp goes extinct)
Still, they might even introduce some more powerful but inaccurate moves with debilitating secondary effects to pair with Claw Sharpen.

Many of the most powerful sweepeing moves have a tendency to miss and end your sweep.
Now you get an attack buff and a bit of insurance against miss hax.

It could even help your secondary status moves.
If something fast Claw Sharpens on a free turn it can use a pretty accurate Hypnosis/Sleep Powder to disable a counter, Claw Sharpen again and hope to sweep.

Wow, would you look at that. So far, I think that this generation has started off pretty well.

-I like the idea that the trainers are older, like most other people here. I just hope that the plot is a little more developed in this game as well.

-I'm very impressed with Zoroark's ability. It's completely unique compared to any other, and brings a lot of questions and possibilities on how it works. Personally, I think it just changes the sprite and (maybe) the name of Zoroark to match that of the opponent pokemon, then reverts back to the original Zoroark sprite when enough damage has been dealt to it.

-The new moves are also nice. Trickery seems like the perfect revenge move against pokemon with Swords Dance, or Nasty Plot if it's considered special. Which I doubt. Also, Claw Sharpen will probably not replace any sort of Dragon Dance, but will be good for pokemon that gain Swords Dance and have low accuracy physical moves. I doubt any pokemon not getting Swords Dance would get it, though, and in most cases it would be preferred since most physical moves have 100% accuracy either way.

-Like pretty much everyone else here, the grass starter is my favorite. It's simple, stylish, and very visually pleasing compared to the rest. I'm also happy that they continued the reptile trend for the grass starters, seeing that it's obviously based off of a vine snake/anole. The fire pig is cute, but is a little bland. I don't really mind that so much, but it doesn't really compare to the grass starter in my eyes. I'm expecting a pretty intimidating evolution for this one. And then there's the poor water starter...Really, I love the idea of having an otter as the water starter(Was hoping for it, actually), but they really messed up the design for it. However, I have faith that the evolutions will look a lot better, so I urge everyone not to judge it so negatively. It is..kinda..cute.

I really think that generation 5 will turn out great!

claw sharpen gets my attention, moves such as cross chop, stone edge, aqua tail, blaze kick, and dragon rush were replaced with more accurate versions, on most movesets. On the surface +1 attack raise isnt that great, but the extra power on top of the +1 attack could warrant this move very useful. Possibly on bulky attackers like dragonite who use dragon rush and (hopefully) new inaccurate physical move, or aqua tail, or something like electivire who get speed from somewhere else.

What the Gen5 starter final forms should not look like.

These new starters look a lot more fantasy-like than the others.

A fire type pig? Can't wait to see it's final form.

EDIT: Anyone think it looks more like a bunny?

oh, woops i was mistaken with evassieness

any ways im going to choose the water starter looks like a clown.

And I bet Zoroak is going to be uber =p

Where are the people getting these info about Zoroark's ability and moves like Claw Sharpen and other stuff like that?

The Grass starter looks kinda like it's high so I'm not sure what people see in it. I'm just assuming that a lot of people like it from BuddyBlueBomber's post but he might be speaking for himself and dragging other people with him.

EDIT: Never mind, I found the source of the info.

I wouldn't discount it, either. After all, GameFreak does take a lot of inspiration from a lot of different sources...and they were already being called out by Christians for their devil-power and evolution-babble. Also, there was the HGSS Arceus event. I don't see how the Four Horsemen could possibly draw more ire than what's already been drawn.

With the idea of Fire/Ground, Water/Rock, and Grass/Steel starters in my head, what if this is the generation where the starters bear 4x weaknesses to one another?

While I'm still uncomfortable about the HG/SS Arceus event, I can honestly say the fact Pokemon evolution is scientifically garbage (plus the fact that I know if you REALLY look into Christianity Satan would never take on a cartoon devil form unless it was to make you underestimate him, so the devil-power thing is also a theologically invalid argument against Pokemon.) The Four Horsemen wouldn't really draw me ire at all. In fact, they'd more likely just be called out for being T-rated mons in general: A lot of Christians are fine with Pokemon, yes we find Arceus annoying but it's kind of the closest thing to a theologically watertight argument against Pokemon you'll find...and as for evolution, more scientists have probably been irritated by it than Christians in general just because in real life lizards do not glow white and turn into dragons that are 4x weak to Stealth Rock.

And I'm suspecting that the legends will be more akin to Gens. I-II this time. Nothing else really has seemed truly akin to Gen I (I thought I heard GAme Freak was hoping to reestablish the feel of the original R/B,) and as finding Missingno. is straight out...

Dragon, mouse, rooster, monkey and now pig. I wonder if gen 6's fire starter will go along with the zodiac as well.

*Pig-Rabbit. I'm pretty sure the Rabbit is part of the zodiac. They're combining them to complete the zodiac faster(?). Fire sheep haha...or is it a goat? I keep hearing different things. We haven't even gotten to gen5 yet so let's stick to this and not go THAT much ahead.

Why so much hate on the water? Look at that cute guy! Piplup isn't much, but look at Empoleon. Watch this otter rape you so badly its not even funny. It will be Water/Ghost. lol

Piplup is decently cute. Not the cutest but pretty cute. I'm not a big fan of Empoleon looking like a gladiator. The thing that throws me off about the Water starter is that it looks kinda like a clown and it's not smiling. I don't like unhappy Pokemon...but overall, I have to say that these starters look much better than 4th generation's.
