Pokeball Tattoo

I'm 22. I'm considering getting this pokeball as a permanent tattoo. They handed these out as temporary tattoos during the Video Game Showdown in 2008. If I were to get it, it would be on either my upper arm or upper back. The diameter is approx 1.6 inches. Opinions?

ok to be honest, if you're 22 and considering getting a tattoo you probably aren't considering what it's going to be like in about 40 years.

You should get like Pokeball on one arm and your favorite pokemon on the other arm. Be like " I caught this *Flexes your right arm so pokemon pops out* with this *Flex other arm*." If you aren't buff then a pokeball with this

It's a simple Pokeball. It's not like a giant Pokemon logo. And if I don't like it when I'm 60, I can have it removed or have another tattoo over it. I've seen it done a bunch of times.

lol. That's something to consider.

If u want one, go for it lol. U can always get it removed/tatoo over it. Plus it's small.
Personally, I'd go with upper arm. And perhaps consider some other type of pokeball, like an ultra ball or a dusk ball. Pick one that compliments your skin color lol.

Don't removed tattoos leave fugly scars?

EDIT: Laser treatment in this case will deal with the skin’s pigmentation and does not cut through or harm the delicate surface of the skin. Any scarring therefore would be of an absolute minimum but they may appear some pigmentation changes. Hypo-pigmentation, loss of pigment, and hyper-pigmentation, excess pigment, may be apparent after treatment but this can be expected to fade and normal skin tone should return after 6 months.

nvm.

Do what you want with your body now- don't worry about the future. I mean, as bad as of an idea this is, if you think about it, when you're 62 you're gonna be ugly anyway. What's a silly tattoo gonna do that age won't y'know?

Frankly, I'd put it on my upper shoulder on the meaty part. Tbh, I've been contemplating this exact thing for a little bit, but i'm too worried about marring my body to do it. =X

Upper arm might work better. A t-shirt could cover it up when you dont want to show it at work but when your around friends or at the beach, wear a muscle shirt and show it off.
Get a painted tat first, see if you like it, and then get the real one.

there are tattoos that come off in like 6 months, I would get that, lol

not that anyone here will actually influence you, though

btw dragonites has a point :)

For anyone saying he can always get it removed, laser removal is painful, costs a shitload, and repeated treatments are necessary. Are you really willing to do that later on if you decide you don't like it just because a couple years ago you thought it'd be neat to get a red and white circle with a dot in the middle tatoo'd on your upper back?

There have been a bunch of times I was SURE I wanted something and later came to regret such a decision.

I have loved pokemon since the beginning, and I'm sure as hell not going to love it in 20, 30, or 40 years from now. My dad is a tattooist, and i do not have a tattoo, because I fear of what will I have to see on my arm for the rest of my life, and I think something like Pokemon won't last forever. I know my love for pokemon won't last forever, so I know for a fact that whenever I do decide to get tattoos, Pokemon will not be on my list of options.

With saying that, I really do not recommend getting a pokemon tattoo. Go with some cool mythological creature that you love the most or put something in rememberance of your favorite family member.

I can't stand the people in the topic saying that it'll turn people away and shit, and that it's not cool, etc etc. Reality check; people don't give a fuck, and it's his opinion. If you're still at that stage where you think being open about pokemon means you lose all status in life, why are you on Smogon? I cannot stand closet players that are too fucking afraid to be associated with Pokemon, and then shun everyone else that is open about it.

As for the gripes about removal and junk, A) it's really not that difficult to cover up, and B) "it'll suck in 30 years" is a piss poor excuse, because it assumes you're body is going to waste.

If you want it, get it. I actually think it's a cool ideal (would even consider it myself), though you really need to get a different drawing/pose (that one is poor). Something like marc.z's avatar (as a standard pokemon of course) woud be better than what you have in the original post.

Thanks everyone!

I just wanted to thank everyone for their input.
I'll just do one mass response.

dragonites and Veedrock have good points. I'm leaning toward getting it on my upper arm. This isn't the only tattoo I'll be getting but it will be the only one dedicated to Pokemon. I've been playing the game since I was 12. So basically, for an entire decade of my life.
Right now, I'm more into it than I've ever been. I know for a fact that if I got sick of the tat, I could simply have another tattoo put over it and there would be absolutely no evidence of the pokeball. I've seen the procedure done on some of my friends. Quick and painless. I currently walk around with a Pokemon hoodie. I haven't been shunned or insulted. Maybe it's the fact that I'm 6'3". lol. But many people of all ages have come up to me and said "Hey, I love Pokemon!"

You only live once and, as it stands, I want this tattoo. Anytime I play Pokemon, I have a great time. I love interacting with people on a global level, doing something that we all enjoy. I want to be reminded of this on a daily basis. Getting a little ink is the way I have chosen to express that.

As for getting action, I'm engaged so I think I'm ok in that department. She supports me in my decisions. But thanks for your concern =P

i really want a tattoo of the picture of my avatar on my left, inside-ankle area. i want it done in very light colors- nothing too bright; i do not like bright tattoos.

or this one above. i like my avatar picture much better, though.

and the "Only if you never want to get laid" post is probably one of the most unthought-out comments i've ever seen. the logic of "if you have a pokemon tattoo, you will never laid" is a good lul.
and besides, you don't get tattoos to impress girls. ideally, that is.

Take a few months and think about it. If you still feel that you want it after at least two months (hopefully 6) then I guess do it.

yeah I would really hold off on this until later. Frankly it's poke ball though, so nobody will really care. That roselia tattoo on the other hand is just innapropriate for a guy =[

Funny you should mention that site Pirika. Me and my friends saw these months ago, love the Magikarp, and are looking into blending it in with other ink we're working on.

I'd definitly get it. When you're in a retirement home at some point and the old guy next to you looks at the pokeball on your arm and says, "Is is that a pokeball?" you can tell him it is and you'll make friends pretty fast. xD Old people love to play Pokemon. :P Provided you don't forget what it is...
