ORAS OU Pidgeot Hyper Offense

MEGA PIDGEOT - SPAM HURRICANE

Hello o/
This is my first team I've found worthy of a forum post. It consists of Mega-Pidgeot with Nasty Pass Celebi, this team can handle of most of the OU tier, (with the exception of Zard-X, which can be played around if necessary.) It is also not meant to be an amazing laddering team, as hyper offence loses to many other popular battling styles in the current Meta. It is meant to be used as a fun team to use. However it can be used on the higher end of the ladder quite well.

The Team:

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
pidgeot-mega.gif

Pidgeot @ Pidgeotite
Ability: Big Pecks
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Hurricane
- Heat Wave
- Hidden Power [Ground]
- U-turn

This set takes full advantage of Mega-Pidgeot's high base speed, which can out speed a lot of the tier. It also comes with a highly spamable move in Hurricane. One downfall with this set in particular is that it can be easily worn down by Stealth Rocks because it has no recovery. Roost can be added in the place of Hp-Ground, as other Pokémon on the team can handle Heatran.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
celebi.gif

Celebi @ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 HP / 96 Def / 140 SpD / 20 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Nasty Plot
- Giga Drain
- Recover
- Baton Pass

This Celebi is the only bulky pokémon on the squad, it is meant to be a pivot to bring in other threats with baton pass. The nasty pass is also meant to be passed into Mega-Pidgeot to either sweep once checks have been taken out, or to give it an easy KO. However, swords dance can be replaced with nasty plot, and giga drain with seed bomb. This alternate would be used to pass into other pokémon on the squad. The Ev's in SpD are to ensure that Celebi isn't 2HKO'd by latios' Draco Meteor. The Ev's in speed allow Celebi to outspeed Adamant Bisharp, however Celebi is not supposed to be kept in on a Bisharp. The Spe Ev's can be altered to a have 108 in Spe, this enables Celebi an outspeed on Jolly Bisharp, however I believe the rest of the team can handle jolly Bisharp so it isn't as important. Celebi is also the dedicated switch in to Rotom-Wash and status.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
excadrill.gif

Excadrill @ Air Balloon
Ability: Mold Breaker
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- Iron Head
- Rock Slide
- Rapid Spin

This Excadrill is used as mainly a spinner to keep Mega-Pidgeot healthy as it doesn't have roost. It is also one of two pokémon to weaken Rotom-Wash. It has the standard spread and moveset. The air balloon can be replaced with Life Orb or Leftovers, although Life Orb decreases Excadrill's longevity and Leftovers doesn't allow Excadrill to come in on Scarf Landorus-T locked in on Earthquake to spin.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
infernape.gif

Infernape @ Focus Sash
Ability: Iron Fist
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Hasty Nature
- Close Combat
- Mach Punch
- Stealth Rock
- Overheat

This Infernape is used as a lead 9/10 times, it is also used as a pseudo check to the likes of Bisharp and Weavile with Iron Fist boosted mach punch will OHKO a weavile and have a 93.8% chance to OHKO Bisharp. Overheat can be switched with Fire Punch as they offer a very similar damage output thanks to Iron Fist, it can also be switched for U-Turn for a pivot.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
raikou.gif

Raikou @ Choice Specs
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 30 Def
- Volt Switch
- Thunderbolt
- Shadow Ball
- Hidden Power [Ice]

This is the second pokémon that can take advantage of a Nasty Pass from Celebi, this pokémon is severely less reliable of a sweeper than Pidgeot as it is slower and locked into a move. Although can have sweeping potential once checks are weakened and Ground types are eliminated. Raikou has the standard set for Choice Specs. It is also used to weaken Rotom-Wash for a potential Mega-Pidgeot sweep after a Nasty Pass.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
azumarill.gif

Azumarill @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Huge Power
EVs: 92 HP / 252 Atk / 164 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Belly Drum
- Aqua Jet
- Play Rough
- Knock Off

Finally, Azumarill is used as a secondary sweeper. The Belly Drum + Aqua Jet set relies on other pokémon to eliminate checks such as bulky Grass or Water types that outspeed and KO after the Belly Drum + Sitrus Berry (Such as Rotom-Wash or Serperior). These threats can be taken out by the likes of Mega-Pidgeot, Raikou or Excadrill. Knock Off can be replaced with either Superpower or Waterfall, this however removes the team's only Knock Off user which is very important in the current Meta. The Ev's are taken from the standard Belly Drum Azu set, the 164 Spe is to outspeed uninvested base 70s. The rest is in Hp to give Azumarill more bulk to survive hits and set up a Belly Drum. The Hp Ev's are also important to ensure Azumarill eats the Sitrus Berry after a Belly Drum.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I enjoyed using this team on the ORAS OU ladder and I hope you do too. Be sure to leave some constructive criticism below and have a nice day n_n

Be sure to send in showdown replays if you do decide to use the team on the ladder.

Hey nice RMT! A few suggestions:

-First, I suggest running 240 HP EVs on Celebi. This is the most efficient number for Leftovers + hazards. To ensure you live the Latios Draco, I'd just throw the leftover EVs into SpD. Also, if you want an alternative spread, you might want to consider 240 HP / 164 Def / 84 SpD / 20 Spe with a Bold Nature to better handle Mega Lopunny, which is rather threatening to this team (and most offensive teams in general :P).

-Next, I'd run Choice Scarf > Life Orb on Excadrill. You're team has 2 nice speedy Pokemon in Mega Pidgeot and Raikou, but I feel like a Scarfer would be really useful for handling lots of common speedmons that offensive builds tend to struggle with like Mega Lopunny, Mega Manectric, Torn-T, etc. (revenge killing mainly).

-Considering you have NastyPass Celebi, I'd run Expert Belt > Choice Specs on Raikou. With EBelt, you can bluff having the bulk of AV and/or being locked into a move (Specs). When you have a Baton Passer, it usually isn't that great to have it there for only one specific Pokemon. Of course when building, you probably have one main Pokemon you want to pass to in mind (Mega Pidgeot), but it's always nice to have another Pokemon who appreciates (but doesn't rely on) the boost.

-On Azumarill, I'd run a spread of 44 HP / 252 Atk / 212 Speed. This outspeeds uninvested Mega Scizor (with some speed creep), and it provides a nice HP number for Sitrus Berry + Belly Drum.

-Finally, I'd suggest a more standard Lead Infernape set (provided below). Endeavor is just too much to miss out on IMO considering it gets an opposing Pokemon down to 1HP. Also, 168 is all you need for Chansey (2HKO), and Overheat really appreciates that Blaze boost + more SpA EVs. I like Infernape on this team because it helps with Bisharp like you said, but if you find Bisharp to be less of a problem in the future, you might want to consider Azelf > Infernape. Azelf has a nice base 115 speed, it gets access to Explosion to carry momentum and put a dent into something, and it gets moves like Dazzling Gleam (for Mega Sableye) and Iron Tail (for Mega Diancie).

Infernape @ Focus Sash
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 168 Atk / 88 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Endeavor
- Overheat
- Stealth Rock
- Close Combat

Hopefully these suggestions could help n_n

I appreciate the feedback on my team, and I can agree with Expert Belt on Raikou, alternate Ev's on Azu and the Infernape set. However running a scarf on Excadrill may help otspeeding certain threats, it loses a lot of momentum when spinning as it will be locked in. This makes it big set up fodder for a bisharp, which without Infernape would sweep the team at +2. It is too risky in my opinion but I can see why it would be better.
